Not too sure if this is a topic already. But I just downloaded the etag app onto my phone. G&F posted about this app a few days ago so I gave it a try. It just stays on the homepage. It won't do anything. Is anyone else having the issue or heard about it?

The app they made also gives you draw results and all your licenses too. So it's like the portal but no service needed. But for me I have taken my family members hunting a lot over the past couple years since I got my driver's license. Almost every time they forget their tags weather its just the morning hunt. Or they left the tag at home and we didn't find out till the first day of hunting. On my brother first hunt which was late archery elk we drove up to Williams set up camp n all that. Woke up the next day and started hiking. We get up to a glossing point and I asked to see his license and tag and he didn't. So we had to drive 4 hours back home n all that stuff. So I guess for me it'll be nice for myself and them. Just depends on your predicament

Ah gotcha! Thank you!

That's the plan! Thank you!

That's sick man. I was looking into those but for now I don't feel too comfortable hunting that late due too the snow. I still have my little 2wd ranger. Maybe it'll get me on the main roads but sometimes the snow can get rough really fast. I'd hate to be stuck out there after a storm goes in. I have been saving for like an XJ or a 3rd Gen 4runner. After that I would like to start doing those late rifle tags. Odds seem to be a bit better!

Yeah I was thinking about using a hotel. I don't have good enough camping supplies to really keep me warm if an early front or storm came in. I have been doing research on some of the units. I just kinda figured that imma put in for some harder tags like early archery elk and the kaibab mule deer tags, while I wait imma use this year to start kinda doing photography so I can learn about these animals without hunting them. Maybe I'll get better at stalking them I'm the long run too. I'm about 5-7 years away from the unit I wanna hunt. So I figured I'll learn a lot in that time

Who all is going to 36a? Me and my buddy are going there Wednesday night to setup camp. If anyone wants to join us and combine camps lmk. If not good luck guys!

Sounds good! Thank you! I keep looking into it more and more, and it kinda sounds like it might have to be a next year trip

That's awesome dude. Congrats man!
-
Geez. That helps me make my decision

That's awesome! If I get drawn imma prolly end up shooting the first bull I get the opportunity to shoot. I'm trying to kinda narrow down areas I wanna hunt. Try to scout it a little before the draw. At least learn the roads

Dang thats crazy man. I was on an early cow hunt with my mom this last season. It was fun calling the Bulls in. I found a nice pocket in 4b with pleanty of elk. Would you recommend a cow tag for early archery? Would that be a waste of 3 points or should I just keep going all in on bull tags?
-
Gotcha. I got to go to a lotta good units during the rut the last few years. Called in Bulls almost everyday. Freaking insane!
-
Lol was it that bad?
-
Me too. I'll let you know what I find for mule deer!

Monsters at red butte. Found this giant near the trailhead. Here is a 234 casing for reference. It's not easy to find bucks. The east side is packed with hunters. Go far west. Less hunters. Only ran into 5 groups on the opening weekend over there. It's a hard hunt. All groups I talked too didn't even see any deer at all. I only saw one truck with a buck in the back. It was a 3x3

I had the tag last year. Saw about 20-30 deer a day and saw maybe 3 bucks. Most deer activity was near the park boundary and near the reservation boundary in the north west portion of the unit. They would run to the closest water source during the first 15 minutes of light or in the last 15 minutes of light each day. Then they would run right back to safety. Deer density is really bad. I had 5 scouting trips and had only seen 4 bucks between all those trips before the hunt. Good luck

Differences in Coues deer hunting seasons
UggRedBilly posted a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Gonna go on my first rifle coues deer hunt this year. Wanted to see what kinda season seems best. What are the pros and cons of each one? The units I am looking at are the 36's and I think 34b for a 2nd choice (garunteed draw) with 2pts. Any advice for weather scouting maybe road conditions and gear advice. Thank you! -
