Hey guys! So this Thursday I wanted to go out and try to build a water catchment in an area near by! Recently I had one of my favorite spots was used as a mud bog and I wanted to try and take that out of the equation. I saw a few forums in the past around 2010 asking the same thing and it was legal then, so is it still legal on public land? Also would I be allowed to drop a mineral lick? I do not intend on hunting this spot, more of just a hobby to get cool photos of deer, javelinas, and even cardinals (pretty cool birds out there). Thank you!

That's the plan. I had 4 groups of people walk up to my blind while I was hunting in the matter of 2 days. Too many people! Hate it! But there is a deer population! So i just wanna get cool photos and videos and post them up each week. I never used a camera before and Josiah showed me them and i thought they were neat. He showed me all the pictures of elk through each month and it was super cool! I think itll be a nice hobby

I had to do that for my father a few years ago actually. I accidentally put in my number with the auto fill instead of his. They were kind enough to help me! I imagine they'll do the same to you!

Would it be smarter to bury a the stock tank and run water and salt out too it weekly? It's just a 40 gallon so it wouldnt be much of a hassle I dont think. I live like 30 minutes away from where I'd like to put it

Great memories like these right? I wouldn't think of building a tank if this BS here didnt happen But you know. Let's ban trail cameras also right dude? Screw catching these a-holes who do this crap. With how much of a drought we have there wont be much to get any pictures of anything. But yeah let's go destroy water sources and not make new ones. Then ban trail cameras because you know, that makes the quality of the deer go up all the sudden, not the fact you're supplying them with basic needs. Go say that to fish and game bud. Bet they'll love you like everyone else on the forum

Some people said I was legal to put out a tub without a platform to catch water too. So that maybe an option. If I am allowed to build one itd be like this right here. I wouldnt really wanna use it for hunting. More of getting cool trail camera pictures. Just for a hobby because I dont really like hunting that unit. To many ATV traffic and weekend warriors.

I decided to email someone who helps with water at fish and game. And he gave me the BLM number and email. He was worried about the same thing with littering

Where in the regs does it say that? I havent seen it yet and I just wanna see it in writing, I had a few others reach out and tell me that salt is allowed on public lands, and some even put out tubs and put their own water in it too. So I just wanna get a clear reading of it

With this trail camera ban would I be allowed to put a camera in a mule deer area I know from let's say Febuary through July? The area does not have an early OTC archery season, and the first season is I believe a youth hunt in Mid October. So if I take my camera down early enough (July) would that count as "aiding in taking game" I just wanna watch antler growth

Hey guys so I just needed help on what to choose on a type of hunt for a begginer. I would like to be on archery because I just enjoy it more than rifle! But what should I do? Early cow? Save points for a trophy bull unit? Or should I do another late bull and sit water if it's another dry year? Thank you!

Gotcha! I always wanted to try an early cow hunt up near forest lakes! I ALWAYS find lots of elk there and to just hear the bugles is so cool too! Is there any other units that are worth looking at? Like would unit 8 be an option? Does unit 9 have an early cow?

Honestly anywhere that has water near it and under 2500 feet. Even with this rain coming they'll be within a few miles of any water. These cooler temps should make it a ton of fun this last week man! 37B has had a fair amount of deer. More than I normally find anyways! Just look for water and find a glassing point within a mile or 2 from it! Good luck man!

Yeah. It used to be a huge tank. Like 50 yds Then the last few days it was like a 10 foot puddle. Now it's just a mud pit with tire tracks. Had a small 2 foot puddle and I hoped it would still be enough to have something come in! But no luck for today. I am just going to wait till after next weeks rain and maybe get one after that, right before the season closes

I was in 37B the last 3 days! It was awesome! 3 does at a tank. Then the next day I had a buck that was spooked by something, run from behind me in my blind. I had about a 30 yard running shot if I wanted to take it, but I wasnt confident i would make the shot so I passed! We stopped at about 80 yards away and was huffing and snorting in all directions for a few minutes then walked away. A few hours later in the afternoon I walked back to where he had stopped and saw scratching marks in the ground and he had peed on a few piles of poop too. This morning I go back there and to my suprise my water hole had turned into a mud bog for some people during the night. Looks like a few got stuck too!

Today in 37B we had a buck rutting on some does. Found a tank near by them and plan on sitting water on Wednesday and Saturday!
