Looking for a decent Spotting Scope

For tripods, look at the SLIK Sprting Pro EZ. I just returned from a trip and used my Swaro's on it for days on end, very stead tripod, fairly light, and a decent price, think it was @ $130.

    Legal Lead-free Bullets for CA

Tony, thanks for the link. I've lived in California for almost 7 years and if a condor landed on my truck hood, i'd have no idea what it was......i'll be deer hunting in the 'lead free' zones starting in July, but will stick to the bow.

    CWT.com Archery Hog hunt?

Varmints are 'off limits' while hog hunting at Tejon....not sure why, but that's one of the rules they clearly state and desertbull hit the nail on the head.....wet roads at Tejon are a very bad thing.

    CWT.com Archery Hog hunt?

Tejon Ranch is well worth the drive and $450 for a hunt in California is slowly turning into a bargain. I've hunted the ranch on two seperate archery only hunts, having a great time each and seeing 50+ hogs along the way....but going home with a full cooler is definately not a sure thing and the success ratio is way less than 50%. It's a tough hunt and the hills are steep, but seeing how you guys hunt coues and know how to glass.......you'll do very well! This is mine from February of this year in 'Carbon Canyon'....had to name it that as my buddy missed 4 seperate hogs over the 2.5 days.

    2008 CouesWhitetail Blacktail Smackdown.

Matt.....you're gonna have a great time in the Trinity's, lots of bears and a chance at some smoker blacktails. I'll be headin' in that Friday as well and staying for 5-7 days. Might see ya on the trail.

    Sitka Gear

I used Sitka gear on 3 backcountry hunts this past year; a 3 day deer hunt, 5 day bear hunt, and a 10 day elk/muley hunt. The clothing dried extremely quick and peformed great! but you're right, it's a tad pricey, but in my opinion, it's worth it! As of January at the ATA show, Sitka was not offering their line in Max1....all my peices are in Mtn Mimicry, great pattern, but like you, i prefer Max1 for the early season. Buy a couple peices and see how you like it.

    How would you ride?

I used horses/mules this past year on one trip, then goats on another....the goats were easy to take care of, could pack a pretty heavy load, and required zero maintenance-other than a high line during hunting hours, had to do this or they'd follow you in the field. They didn't drink any water for 4-5 days and just browsed on bark, limbs, dirt, and whatever they found near and in camp..........pretty neat critters for backcountry hunters.
