Was the aforementioned goldfish pond in Unit 21 by chance?

Love the pics of Waldo and Suzi as they are old pals from Yuma! I know she was thrilled with her bull! Congrats on a fine season! Schmitty

I was just looking @ pics of Kaitlyn and Hakan playing together back in CO. Funny how they grow up so fast! My girls are jealous of the pink rifle! Good job getting into the elk. Sorry about the loss of meat. Schmitty

The lenses are perfect, they've been protected at all times unless actually shooting. There is very slight wear on the body (very light ring marks), turrets are solid. Scope is 3 years old, but is the same model/product# being currently sold. I'm in Prescott, I'm selling to finance a new Swaro Z-5. I'm in Prescott, If you want it, I can meet up with you in Williams. Let me know if you have any other questions, Schmitty

Casey, If somebody else doesn't jump first. I'm going to be doing some load development next week and H1000 is looking to be THE powder of choice. If so, I'll work something out with you. I'll keep you posted. Craig

I've gotten it at Albertson's before. They generate some pork fat when cutting shouders into country style ribs, so a week when they've got CS ribs as their lost leader, there's a good chance they may be have an excess of pork fat to give away or sell. It's much harder to come by than beef fat I've noticed. Pork shoulder's are pretty cheap @ Costco or Sam's, so often times I'll just blend Ground pork shoulder 50/50 with game meat when making sausage and it still comes out very lean compared to commercial products. Good luck, Schmitty

In your opinion - who makes the best wall tent?
Schmitty replied to mtn-memories's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Buster, You sure you didn't steal my tent? The 14x16 Davis with the 3 windows is a pretty nice setup! -
Just got done eating the last of last year's antelope. Meat was stir fried with zuchinni, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, onion, garlic and cilantro served over rice. It was a pretty fulfilling meal as the only store bought items were the mushrooms, rice and garlic. Everything else came from the grasslands of NM and our garden. I'm of the opinion that antelope backstraps are best cooked over mesquite coals lightly coated with olive oil w/ salt, coarse pepper and a maybe a hint of garlic. I like to cook the straps intact until rare/medium rare and slice thin against the grain. Wish I had another one in the freezer. Schmitty

Go with a Davis. I don't think there is a huge difference between the top quality tent manufacturers, but Davis has a great reputation for customer service and taking care of folks. I have a Davis 14x16 sunforger 10 oz w/ screen door and 3 windows. I'd recommend spending the extra $ on windows to increase your ventilation for earlier hunts and summer camping. The sunforger treated canvas has minimal shrinkage (they recommend setting it up and wetting it down to shrink it down to the frame when you get it). A treated canvas tent will shed water just fine, is much more breathable than the synthetics, and is much easier to repair should a mishap happen and will most likely last much longer. There are plenty of outfitters who have been using the same wall tents for 20 plus seasons. Good luck, Schmitty -
The Beehive or the old "Fort Griffin" steakhouse is AWESOME! Those Iranian fellows sure know how to cook a steak! i've always got to watch my nephews as they try to steal the $1 bills off the wall in the bar. That part of TX is a neat place and full of game. The Shackelford County courthouse is one cool old building as well. I think it's been 4 years now that I've been going out there to cull does/hogs and predators with my brother and nephews as his coworker's family owns one of the bigger ranches in the county! I'd love to get out there one spring to chase Tom's! Congrats on a great trip! Schmitty

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm looking to thin out my gear as I don't get out as much as I'd like. Final Approach Legacy Layout blind. Nat Gear This was the cadilac of the FA line when it was made, it's considerably bigger than the Pro Guide, great for big guys or a guy and his pooch. Comes with snow cover as well. $150 FA groundhog blind. Shadow Grass Used once. $75 Reel Geese Goose Silhouettes w/ quality Final Approach carry bag. 24 in good shape with another 1/2 doz that need new stakes. $125 GHG duck decoys w/ anchors. Never actually used, but have been in a decoy bag for the past 7 years. 1.5 doz Widgeon and 1 doz Green Wing Teal. SPF!! Misc. Steel Shot. 3" shells, the majority are Winchester #2 shot and are new in the box. There will be some loose shells as well. Minimum of 250 shells, most likely closer to 275. SPF!!! I'm in Prescott, but can deliver to PHX. My wife will be heading to Tuscon tomorrow AM, so if you speak up before she leaves, I'll send them down w/ her. Let me know, Schmitty
