    36C Tag- unit advice

I've spotted Illegals top to bottom of the unit in the flats and along the peaks. Whether it's too dangerous is your call as there is inherent risk in all you do. As for big bucks, they are spread throughout the unit as well in the flats, foothills and mountains. The biggest issue with 36C is limited access points pinch most hunters into similar locales. Be prepared to do alot of walking in the dark and stay out all day. Have fun, Schmitty

    Unit 8 Archery

Depends on the year and where you hunt. There are a bunch of tanks and you should be able to find a couple to have to yourself. Traffic really decreases after the first weekend. If you only have one week to hunt, I'd suggest the 2nd week as you'll only have 1/4 of the folks and the rutting action is typically better. good luck, Schmitty

    ooooopps

Pretty amazing that 400 acres on the Coconino could burn right now. Just went for a hike in the PNF and there's still water running down most decent drainages and plenty of standing water.

    texas governor

Pretty impressive, but pales in comparison to the gal up here that ran the mile plus back to her car w/ a rabid fox attached to her arm. She even got a spot on Letterman! http://www.dcourier.com/main.asp?SectionID...ArticleID=61023 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZfsAykwyS4

    My Famous Campfire Dinner...

If it were a bean and cheese burrito from Chile Pepper/Mr. G's down in Yuma I might be inclined to believe you. The Yuma guys know what I'm talking about! But from Taco Bell??? Might be good on day 5 of a backpack trip!!! Can't deny the quick, cheap and easy though!

What are the specs on the wood handled knife? blade length, steel, etc. thanks, Schmitty
  13. I just leave "the claw" attached to my rifle and when it's time to shoot, I pull off the optics and slide the claw in. Takes about 10 seconds and is comparable to a bipod in steadiness. (only with the bogen 701HDV head) I've not had an opportunity to use it on deer, but a few coyotes have bit the dust out to 400. Hope this helps. Schmitty

    Bleaching Skulls?

Go to the beauty supply store and ask for "40 volume" peroxide. You can brush that on pretty heavily and set it out on a nice sunny day. You might have to repeat once or twice, but that will get you plenty white as long as the skull has been thoroughly degreased. Good luck! Schmitty

    Suasage Mix

For a good old fashioned breakfast sausage look for the AC Legg old plantation standard breakfast sausage mix #10. Add enough fatty pork to your venison and it's pretty similar to the hot and spicy jimmy dean. The best part is that a packet to do 25 lbs of meat is only $2-3. I've misplaced my favorite italian recipe. For Brats, I use the german sausage blend from zach's spice and add a bit of corn syrup and black pepper to the mix. For smoked, I really like the Dobesh blend w/ a bunch of Jalapeno's mixed in. For Chorizo, I've got a pretty good recipe that I've got written down somewhere, I've never tried a commercial blend. I buy all of my spice mixes from allied-kenco.com. We also make up a bunch of snack sticks and jalapeno cheddar summer sausage each year from a recipe that's on the texas bowhunters website. Good luck, Schmitty

    Remington R-15 Scope rings help

You'll probably need to buy a one piece mount that will mount the scope far enough forward for proper eye relief. The cheapest ones out there are the Burris PEPR or the Rock River mount. I've got the Burris mount and it works quite well, I think it ran $65 or so. good luck! schmitty
  25. That beautiful rig belongs to AZ's newest paramedic, Senor Port of Groom Creek. Unfortunately the NOTCAL sticker took the place of a real gem the "bullriders for Christ" logo that was on the truck when Cap'n Port bought that rig. I was a bit upset when I saw the new change. The CWT sticker is a relatively new edition as Colin associates w/ quite a few CWT'ers and his ugly mug can be seen on a recent fox killing thread. Glad to see the Dodge immortalized on the world wide web! Take care, Schmitty
