This post is for the dogs

This has always been my favorite post except when someone has to say good-bye to one of their dogs. They bring us so much joy and unconditional love in our lives. If only all the people were as kind and loving. Hunterjohnny & Stanley.......sorry to hear of your loss. For me, it has always been one of the hardest things to go thru. I've found out that sharing stories of the good times and love our pets gave us really helps to start the mending process of a broken heart. Thank you both for sharing Daisy "Roo" and Ruby with us. Thanks Amanda for posting. Thoughts and prayers for all those families who lost loved ones, the volunteers, and those who are still fighting illnesses from that horrible day. God bless them all! TJ

    coal for tent stove

When I was kid growing up, in Brilliant, Ohio, that's all we ever had was a coal furnace. I shoveled and hauled many tons of it on my sleigh. It was a great source of heat but very dirty. I never gave it much thought of using coal in a camp stove. I do remember the snow being very dirty looking around the house all the time. Just wondering if the black mess is worth the trade off for the longer hours during the night. Let us know how it works out if you go that route. TJ

    MY HOME BURGLARIZED

I was enjoying my moring here on cwt until I came across your post Bill. Now I'm just sick to my stomach and mad at the same time. Peg and I are so sorry this had to happen to you. I hope they catch the thieves and you recover your property back. No one should ever have to go thru something like this. Thieves need to be shot in public right after they chop off their fingers. TJ
  8. Thanks for posting. Looks and sounds like you had a great evening of dove hunting. I will be cooking my dove for monday night football. Thanks for sharing. TJ

AZGFD doesn't care about the youth.

Cody, when I read AZGFD doesn't care about the youth in your topic, right away I thought there must be some misunderstanding. I'm sorry to hear how things worked out and I can understand your frustration. Right away I wanted to get to the bottom of what went wrong so I took what you wrote and then went into the g&f regulations for some sort of explanation. #1. The azgfd does make mistakes now and then like we all do so here is a suggestion that might help the next time you receive a different tag than you put in for. Run a copy of your application before you send it in. This way you have some proof and I know for a fact that this can be brought to the commission board for review. Without this it's possible you and your father's application was filled out wrong. This actually happened to me a few years ago and I swore I filled it out right until I found my copy. #2. The g&f regulations does have a part of their regs that can be a little misleading and confusing. It saids that a youth license is good from 10years of age thru 20 years of age. This is where it gets tricky. You have to realize that there is a differrence between a youth and a jr tag. I can see where one might mistake a jr tag as being a youth tag. There are no youth tags for big game. The regulations states persons are eligible to participate up to and thoughout the calender year of their 17th birthday. This means your sister was a year older than allowed but still considered a youth since she was not yet 20years of age. I certainly see how this can be confusing and mistaken as part of the jr hunts. I hope this was of some help to you Cody. Please go to pages 24 thru 26 of the regulations and you will see that your opening statement about the azgfd not caring about the youth is totally wrong. You are part of the next generation that the azgfd and us old farts need to carry on our hunting heritage. Thanks for being a cwt member and good luck with the next draw. Thanks for posting. This was a good point you brought up Cody and it just might be reworded in next years regs. to clearify the difference between a jr hunter and a youth hunter. TJ

    Archery Antelope Success!!

Congratulations Andrew. It sounded like it was a tough hunt. It's stories like this that make me a big fan of Coury Guide Service. The story was awesome and the pictures are great as well. Thanks for sharing. TJ
  13. Man does this bring back memories for me. My first deer ever was a spike at the age of 24 and I can remember it like it was yesterday. You will never forget your first and thank you for sharing it with your cwt family. I could feel the excitement as you told the story and the pics are great. Congratulations on your buck and thanks for donating your rifle tag to OE4A. TJ

    Finally broke the 100" mark.

I know you work hard preparing for your hunts and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Congratulations Tracey on a beautiful buck. I would have guessed the score higher than it was. No matter what it scores, it's a trophy to be proud of. Another great writeup. Amanda certainly has made my life, and many others, more enjoyable with the ability to read and share stories like yours here on cwt. Thanks for sharing Tracey. Give my best to Angie and I hope she has a speedy and full recovery. TJ

    Stolen Jeep with sticker!

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going out and pull all my stickers off the truck, boat, and camper. Wouldn't you think the thieves would be smart enough to just ask Amanda for a sticker or two. TJ ps....all kidding aside I feel your pain and sorry to hear about the jeep being stolen.

  22. Glad to see this posted and thank you PRDATR. I picked up hundreds of spent shells last year. So far I haven't seen the mess as in the past but will continue to pick up if I see them. I put my birds on ice and clean them at home. Thanks to all that take the time cleaning up even though it isn't your mess. I know it makes me feel better knowing I have helped alittle. TJ

Got my Mexico Coues back today

That sure is one beauty of a buck. Got to love the points coming together. Congratulations on a fine buck. TJ
  24. You are absolutely right Casey. Labs are known to be over weight and Lexie's no exception. I've been walking her for the last couple months and trying to get her pads toughened up along with shedding a few lbs, both her and me, but it's hard to do working mostly 12hr days. It doesn't leave much time for anything and living in town doesn't help the situation a bit either. Not making any excuses, for I know I have to work her alot more. I assume you didn't work with your dog on the gun training. I started out with a cap gun, then a 410, and finally a 12ga. while letting her chase pigeons I caught in town. A good friend of mine helped with Lexies training. I bet it's not to late Casey. There are alot of good books and info on the internet. Good luck with her. TJ
