    New Zealand Adventure

Ilene, Peg and I are looking thru your pictures and are in awe. You have got to be the best woman bow hunter in the world. I don't know much about the animals you shot but they all look like giant trophies for sure. You are my idol. Can't wait to hear some stories of the trip. I'm glad you and Roger got to make New Zealand. Maybe if Peg and I ever hit the lottery. The countryside looks beautiful. Glad you and Roger made it home safe. Thanks for sharing. TJ

San Juan River, New Mexico 2012

This has been our 5th annual trip to the San Juan. It's one of the best trout fisheries in the United States. After working 12hrs last monday we headed out for our 8 hr drive. Got there around 7am tuesday. After a couple hours of much needed sleep we hit the river. Needless to say we slept good that night. There were 11 of us this year and a good time was had by all. The raccoons get us every year. They ate 2doz of my tortillas after I forgot to put away. The weather was perfect and the turkeys were gobblin like crazy on the river. Here are a few pictures. I have got to get better of taking pictures. Made jerky for the trip Camp spot My personal bottle of brandy from a good friend. Thanks Paul! One section of river. My first first rainbow on a dry fly. Standing in the parking lot of the Texas hole. Ted Bounds, aka Jacksho & Rick our guide. A small rainbow. My guide hoding one of my fish. One of many beaver houses. One of many geese on the river. Another of Jackshoe's brown trout. Another of many brown trouts caught. Bird nests on ET rock. This rock looks like ET as you approoach from the upper section of the river. This muskrat was my fishing partner for a couple hours. Mike, from Presscot hooked up. My good friend Josh from Prescott. Jeff & Aaron Another friend, Jeff, from Prescot The wild bunch! Jeff,Josh,Mike, and Aaron Just me enjoying the river. Jackshoe with another of many trout caught.

1st Annual Shootin' The Moon Bowfishing Tournament

I have never done this before but it definitely sounds interesting. There's a change I might get day shift working 4 10's after many years of working second shift with every other weakend off to every weakend off. If this happens I might show up but probably wouldn't enter the contest. Maybe I could do something to help out on shore. I can count to 10 and know how to add so maybe I could help in the weigh-in. Sounds like this could be alot of fun. TJ

    Prayers for Allen

It always hurts worse when you actually know the person going thru this disease. Cancer can be mean and I hate it with all my heart. I know Bonnie thru the women's javelina hunts and have spent time with Annie around a camp fire. I got to meet Allen this last hunt and what a nice guy. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair for everyone. I was just sick to my stomack when I read this at work today and thoughts and prayers for Allen. God can perform maricles and I pray that this is another. Prayers sent. TJ

Do you like a good challenge???

No they aren't right. 1 hundred and 91 as I count. We can make this work Donnie. Come on all hunters and pledge to give something back. We have got to beat these anti hunters. If we fail then it's on your shoulders. I will never give up. Thanks Donnie for bringing this to the front table. TJ

San Juan River, New Mexico 2012

Sounds like your son has a real interest in flyfishing. Now's the time to get him some instructions before he developes any bad habits like I have. I would love to show him what I know but to be quite honest I only flyfish a couple times a year and would only pass on my bad habits I can't quite get rid of. My good friend Ted Bounds, aka Jackshoe, is 10 times the flyfishing guy I will ever become. Ted does give fly casting lessons. There's nothing like catching a fish on a fly rod. Make sure you post his first fish, on a fly rod, here for all of us see. TJ

Do you like a good challenge???

I like your challenge Donnie and the way you think. We all need to give back, get those who hunt involved in projects along with their families and friends, and educate those who don't hunt in volunteering their time with a project. With that said I still think we still need to continue to have some auction tags. The auction tags that are in place during our elk & deer banquets bring alot of money that I doubt would ever be raised otherwise. It would be great if donations and all the hunters could pull this off but I've been to a few water catchment projects and only a few ever show up. I don't want to sound negative but just realistic here. However, I will take your challenge my friend. Hope to see ya on a project soon! TJ
  14. Congratulations to Taylor and all the other successful hunters. Thanks for sharing Scott. TJ

  23. Wow, that was some tribute to your friend. I actually wiped a few tears from my face before replying here. I'm a big softy when it comes to dogs. They certainly give us more than we give them that's for sure. I've lost my share over the years and it doesn't get any easier. Thanks for sharing that great tribute to Apache with us here. TJ

    Josh's First Turkey

I haven't been on here in a week and what a way to start my viewing. Congratulations to Josh on his first bird and a great one at that. Another congrats to Nick with a beauty as well. Good luck to Matt. Hunting as a family can't be beat and thanks Coach for sharing some of it with us. That Josh is going to catch up to his older brothers real fast the way he's going. TJ
  25. For me, it is a matter of lack of knowledge. No idea what all of these different comittees represent, who the members are, what they represent, where the money goes. I put in for hunts, buy my hunting license, feel lucky if I get drawn. Go hunt. Always under the assumption that my money for tags, etc. is what took care of what I know as Game and Fish. When I started reading stories of hunting on this website, I started learning a whole lot about hunting and what is going on outside of my little, enclosed world. I learned that not everybody has the same idea what "ethics" are and it is a pretty heated discussion. I have learned that there are many factors that play into what Game and Fish has to deal with. Salt licks, blinds, two tracker roads vs. "maintained" roads. I have learned that there are many important issues out there that I honestly had no clue of and still wouldn't if it were not for all the info I have gleaned from this site. I realize that there is much at hand and much that is very important for the future of our hunting and fishing youth. Many people spend many hours on behalf of something that I have taken for granted. Even if I have not agreed with many things that have been said on this site I have still learned. Ignorance is what I blame my position on, but now that I have become more informed, I need to decide what is best for me to do to help. That decision becomes difficult though, when so many people claim one thing is what we need to do, and then a whole nother side of the spectrum says we need to do just the opposite. I am a rookie at this stuff, but I think I have a good grounding on what I expect from professional people who would represent my ideals and concerns. I feel I have met many people on this site that I would trust to make sound decisions on behalf of the future of our wildlife. I am willing and ready to help be a part of the solving of the problems that face us. Well said my friend! TJ
