Lark, you never told us you were a movie reviewer before. It doesn't surprise me though. Some might think you're full of it but not me cuss I was abducted once by them same aliens. Use to speak and spell real good til they got a hold of me and now it's all I can do to think it. I recall one time when they were examminin my brain one of them there aliens said somethin that sounded like Lark. Didn't give it much thought back then but do you suppose it was the same critters? I was afraid no one would believe me but if Lark ain't afraid of no little stinkin alien story then I ain't afraid to share mine eder. TJ

As was said above, by Coach, you have definitely have come to the right site. Welcome to coueswhitetail and I hope you enjoy the ride. If you haven't already taken a Hunter Safety Course I reccommend you do so. There are alot of good hunters on this site with a ton of experience under their belt and are willing to share it with you. I would suggest looking back through some of the older topics in the discussion forum for alot of good information. Another source of good info is looking at the home page and look at all the listings on the left side of the screen. This is a great start where you will find anything from hunt strategies, where to hunt, to the fundamentals of whitetail hunting and other game animals. Don't stop there. Look at the store section and you will find many books and videos that can help you get started. I recently got a copy of "Coues Deer" by Duwane Adams and Tony Mandile. I highly reccommend it. I'm sure you will get alot of tips to help you along and I must say you are off to a good start with that lion. There is alot to learn and it takes years to become a seasonned hunter. It's not always about the biggest or the most but how you conduct yourself in the field in a safe and ethical manner with respect to the game you pursue and respect towards your fellow hunters. I hope a few of these tips will help you along. I sure would like to see some more pics of that mt lion and maybe you could share the hunt with us. TJ

I have to say my favorite elk unit is 22. I have killed 2 rifle and 14 archery in the last 23 years and the memories I have of all those hunts are priceless. I've drawn 23 staight years for elk and the number of pigs and deer I've killed are a gift from the hunting gods. I feel unit 22 has more to offer than any other unit in the state. TJ

Mr. Pine Donkey, thank you for starting a new post to let those, who feel the urge, to vent somewhere other than on Alan's parade. Your position on "Life's not fair" was well written and I certainly know where you are coming from. I had the pleasure of meeting your lovely wife and daughter last year on the women's pig hunt and you are a blessed man. I feel your frustration with the undiagnosed condition your daugther has. Yes, life just isn't fair and we all were not born on the same playing field. I pray they someday will figure out what's wrong and find a cure. She certainly is a sweetheart. You hit the nail on the head when you said the memories are sweet because of the people, the animals, and the outdoors, not the money. You're right when you say there are alot of generous people, who have money, and spend it on helping others less fortunate than them. If I were to come into alot of money, not going to happen, I would try and make every child as happy as I could and give all my money away to cure all illnesses in the world. Money is nice and a must have to live but I am rich in family and friends and happy with what God has delt me. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, if they like, on Alan out bidding another for the right to hunt but they certainly don't have the right to judge a man without knowing where he comes from and what he's done to contribute to our sport. Just saying! TJ

Not a problem Amanda, in fact I should be thanking you. My sales were the results of letting me post my items here in the classified section. My Dad and I are going thru a few of his things and I hope to be posting a few more items in the near future. Thanks again for all you do for us spoiled brats. lol TJ

Don't see a problem with that. Good luck on your hunt. TJ

I am tellin ya, just move up here. Buy a license for 25 bucks and the tag is free!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 5 legal rams picked out this year already. 2 of them are ready to keel over from old age at any time. Charlie has 7 picked out. Its gonna be a good year for sheep. I will be gunnin for my 7th ram and 5th mount. I know that is more than my fair share but it is one of the few things that keep me putting up with these aweful winters and in most cases aweful summers as well. This summer so far though has been a dream come true. Lots of sun and warmth without the freakin smoke. BTW, as far as AZDBHS is concerned, enough points I do not have but the ones I do have are better than nothing at all. I'm packin my bags and heading your way. You do have a room for me right? lol You're living my dream man. SOMEDAY! TJ

After scouting for turkeys Thursday my brother and I decided we would beat the storm and came home early. If I was going to be stuck in the house I might as well cook up some phesant and have my Dad and his girlfriend over for a BBQ. So I thawed out some birds testerday. It was fun and I took a few pics along the way. First you got to shoot the phesants. Breast out the meat. Salt, pepper, and garlic along with chili & bacon. Laying chili on breast meat. Wrapping the legs with bacon over chili. Prepareing butter crumb potatos. Ready for some heat. Steamed cauliflower with cheese sauce. Cook on low heat until the bacon is cooked. The end results were awesome if I do say so myself.

I use to put my name and phone number on my tree stands and blinds but no more. I don't trust the forest service. I've heard cases where they called with your stuff and then gave out tickets when you would pick them up. I'm not taking any chances with them. couesdeerhntr.....I wouldn't worry to much on the guy showing up. If you are there first then it's your spot but if he is there then back out and talk with him later if you really insist on hunting there. I actually had a hunter in my tree stand on opening morning before daylight, with my sign saying I would be sitting there that day. He was there first but in my stand. He insisted on climbing down but I let him sit there and went to a backup spot and killed a bull. On another occasion a hunter was sitting beneath my tree stand in a home made blind and I backed off after waving to him because he beat me in there. Later that same day I got in there before him and climbed up in my tree stand. He showed up that evening and I waved him off but he continued to walk in and sit under me at the foot of the tree I was in. I asked if he was going to sit there and he said why not. I explained how I had backed off and now he should do the same. He opened his pack and settled in. I told him to think about what he was doing and make up his mind before I climbed down to make it for him. He lift!

Congratulations to Alan on harvesting this breautiful animal and to Mossback Outfitters. I will never in my lifetime ever have the money to buy one of these tags but I will tell you I would if I had the money. I think it's a good deal for everyone involved. Thank you azgfd for selling these tags in the name of benefitting our wildlife. I have nothing against guides or paying clients but do have some issues with the ones who do nothing but show up after the animal is found, pay the guide, pull the trigger, and then claim he is a hunter. I was wondering if anyone planned on attending this banquet? Amanda has had sponsor tables for cwt members in the past for us to sit together. Let's see if we can fill a table ot two. For those who haven't attended or never heard of OE4A, let me assure you, it is one banquet you don't want to miss. OE4A (Outdoor Experience 4 All) is hosting their 3rd annual fundraising banquet and is a non-profit organization dedicated to providng children with an outdoor adventure. I don't know how to attach the website but here it is. www.OE4A.org Not only do they have the best food, and plenty of it, this includes an open bar but this is way more than just food & drink. You will come away from this night with a heart warming experience knowing you have contributed towards helping these great kids. I ask you please check out their website to what they are all about and to see all the things they have planned for the banquet. TJ
