First annual Arizona Antlerfest
tjhunt2 replied to GRONG's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
Wouldn't you know it, my weekend to work. TJ -
I'ld like that. pm sent! Jeremy.......how did your turkey hunt go? I take it you were the one in the white pickup. If I knew it was you I would have followed you and introduced Peg to ya and showed her your shop. My goal is to have Peg harvest first since I have several days off later in the week. Thanks for the well wishes and hopefully she can pull her third turkey this weekend. TJ

I know how hard that it. I had to put my last lab down 5 or 6 years ago. I like the idea of you going to purchase another right away for the boys. It will help mend their minds alot faster with the attention on the new dog. Sorry for your loss. Tomorrow will be a sad and tough day for everyone. Thoughts and prayers for the family. TJ

One fine looking mount. Both animals are outstanding trophies to be proud of. Thanks for sharing and congratulations to Jody. TJ

As Hank said in his song, "just carrying on a family tradition". I'm really trying to clean up my act but not having much luck. TJ

I just drove thru there Sunday and all the snow has melted leaving standing water everywhere but not a problem fishing the lakes. I personally don't like staying in camp grounds, having two dogs, so I usually camp off the Young road which is just down the road from Woods Canyon turn off. Take the first right after turning on the Young road and you will find quite a few camp spots at no cost. Camp stops are far from each other so you won't disturb your neighbor. Good luck! TJ

Matt, it was a pleasure meeting you and Hank at the plant yesterday. He is a great looking dog and one of the friendliest dogs I have seen just meeting someone for the first time. That definitely is a big plus right out of the gate. Glad I could be of some help and whatever way you go with the training of Hank I'm sure he is going to satisfy your needs in the hunting field. I can just sense it. Keep us informed how the training goes. TJ

Opening Weekend Of the Junior Turkey hunt started with a BANG!
tjhunt2 replied to Koury Guide Service's topic in Youth Hunters
Not only did I enjoy the video of the Koury brothers fishing, I'm now becoming a bigger fan of the Kourys after seeing them mentoring these young turkey hunters at no cost. I know there are many who go unnoticed promoting our sport but this is just one example that makes me smile. I don't want to turn this great post into something other than positive replies so I won't comment on those who think the jr,'s shouldn't be allowed to hunt before the general hunt. Thanks for sharing and go get'em kids. TJ -
Happy Birthday and hope you find the other side. TJ

Pheasant Hunting
tjhunt2 replied to tjhunt2's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
mbiewer, no I didn't join Desert Pheasant but I have shot birds there with a friend who had been using them. That's a good looking gsp you got and I would quess it wouldn't take much to get her trained. They have so much natural instinct not to mention they are a great family dog with a whole lot of energy. I am going to shoot you a pm with more information. They will give you twice the loving you give them that's for sure. TJ -
My lab, Lexie, is now 14 months and my relationship with this dog is more than I ever could have imagined. Starting shooting over her the last two weeks of dove season and really never got to duck hunt her but did shoot a couple mallards she wouldn't retrieve. I been working her in the back yard with those fozen mallards and now joined a Pheasant & Chukar Preserve to continue her training during the summer months. My first outing went pretty good being she never smelled a pheasant before. I had 5 birds planted and she showed a lot of potential and actually retrieved but came up 5 ft short of bringing them to me. We will work on that. She has the run of the house and continues to chew everything in site. She is becoming my best friend and goes everywhere with me. She has her spot on the bed but bringing them antlers to bed in the middle of the night sometimes just don't fly. She is always carrying them around. Here is a picture of our last outing. Ted (aka jackshoe) and I Lexie and me Lexie's everyday thing to do is dragging antlers in the house.

jwhunter, them are some great looking trout for sure. The color on them are beautiful to say the least. Sounds like you guys hit it good. I just got back from the San Juan River in NM and only caught 3 fish in 3 days of fly fishing. There were 11 of us and we had a great time with excellent eats. Thanks for sharing your catch with us. That looks awesome. I just showed Peg and we both are ready to tackle it on my days off. I could actually taste it as I read your post. This to is becoming one of my favorite topics. FOOD! TJ

Guess the score contest - April 2011
tjhunt2 replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
Finally I got it right! 135" exact on the money. TJ -
It's not the kind but the amount that counts. Lots of cold beer! Amanda, Peg wants to know if Paul will be moving in as well. Not quite sure we could afford to feed him. TJ
-
Good luck to both of your boys on their turkey hunts. Keep us posted and take lots of pictures. TJ

It's nice seeing the family all together on your turkey hunt. That's a good looking bird and are all those kids yours? Great looking family by the way. You better start banking your money. It's going to cost you a bundle for permits in a few years but look at how much fun it's going to be. It won't be long and you will never have to carry another harvested animal with that crew. Thanks for sharing. TJ

Tony.....the brain is already scrambled but I do manage to read between the lines and figure out bits and pieces. Amanda......I never ever thought I could get any smarter than I already is but cwt has elevated me higher than I ever thought possible. Non-Typical Solutions.......Ag classes? Just when I thought I had it all together . TJ TJ is always learning new stuff. just a couple months ago he learned that narrow road + big mesquite tree = remodeled truck door. \"/ SunDevil.....yes, I'm still learning new stuff so let me share the proof that narrow road + big mesquite does = ouch! but it was worth the price of mentoring two beautiful women on their ham hunt.
