Saguro Lake(dog training info)
tjhunt2 posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I don't know a whole lot about training a dog and was wondering what your ideas were of the e-collar training? I read a few articles on the enternet but was wondering if any of you have any good training tips for me. I plan on using Lexie for mostly dove and duck hunting. She house trained by 12 weeks and now has learned sit, lay down, stay, and needs more training on her heeling. I took her for her first real swimming lesson yesterday at Saguro Lake and she blew me away. Here she is on her first retrieving session. She never hesitated to swim out to the dummy and bringing it back. She is 15 wks old. Lexie's first retrieve She is pretty tired after around 2 dozen retrieves She slepted all the way home -

Thanks again to everyone for your advise and pm's. I especially like the idea of the beer retrieve from elmergoo. If I could only get Lexie to master that it would definitely take some relief off the wife. Thanks 300ultramag for your advise and glad to see you back on here. Sounds like you might have a little experience with the dog training and I agree on the short training periods starting out. Thanks Andy! TJ -

Thoughts and prayers for family and friends. What a shame. I believe someone said on another post that it was just a matter of time before this would happen to an American citizen, hunter, or outfitter. Sad TJ!

It certainly would help out the farmers and if it worked we would forever be gratefull for helping such a tragic event. TJ -

It was a pleasure to meet you this Sat. and thanks for the pictures of my old hunting grounds. I have taken a lot of game from that area around Apache Lake and you certainly have away with bringing out the beauty of any part of the state you visit. Thanks Doug! TJ

Well, I have never been much of a hockey fan before but I'm on the band wagon now. Amanda was the MVP during the championship game which they won in 2002, if I got it right, and it doesn't surprise me one bit since she is our MVP of the internet. This is just awesome information we got on our leader and how has she kept it a secret for so long? Go Killer! TJ

Sounds like you had a good time out enjoying the spring weather trying to come thru and overtake the snow melt. I'll be at Big Lake the first 10 days of July and hope to catch some left over fish from last year. I know now is the time to be there but that's the best I can do. Good luck on getting Mr. Gobbler and keep us posted how it goes. Thanks for posting. TJ

Just to be clear, the TJ he is talking about is NOT TJHunt2, it's another guy who said his forum name was Hunter Tom or something like that. Don't want to get TJHunt2 in trouble with his wife!! Afterall, his wife might be getting jealous after seeing him in the CW.com dance team video!! Peg, you should take a pic of you in the new CW.com shirt and post it. Or maybe you are going to wear it to one of the banquets? I wish I had a girlfriend who would buy me a new Hoyt bow. jk I had Peg read Chef's post and she thought it was pretty funny. Thanks for clearing that up Amanda or who knows what might have happened if Peg got a hold of this first. Peg likes her new shirt and wants to know if everyone is going to wear theirs to the ada banquet on June 5th? TJ

Stopped by Jeremy's new shop yesterday, coming back thru Payson from Jackshoe's turkey hunt, and visited for about an hour. It was nice meeting some new cwt members, and seeing others I've already known. Jeremy has a very nice shop and I wish you well on your new career Jeremy. I would have liked to have stayed longer but Jackshoe and I had been in the woods for a few days and didn't want to run anyone one out of there if you know what I mean. Doug.... it was nice to have met you finally and hope your ride back down the Apache Trail wasn't to dusty for some good pictures. Christain.... I especially enjoyed talking with your Dad about bird dogs. Be sure and thank your Dad for some helpfull tips on training my new lab. Jimmer...glad to see you again. Amanda.....thanks for the shirts and Peg's fits good and glad to hear your new dog is working out for you and Paul. Elk-a-Holic....hope you had some luck on your turkey hunt GH.....sorry I missed Danny but I just couldn't wait to get back to near 100deg temps. TJ

As I grew up in Ohio my Mother was always there for me. We camped alot and made yearly fishing trips to Canada as I grew up. She made it a point for me to be in church every Sunday and after moving to Arizona she was always in elk camp. There are just to many memories to share on here but those who met her know she was one of a kind. As my Dad and I packed for a deer hunt, in 2000, my Mother passed away as a result of a stroke. Happy Mothers Day Mom and to all your Moms as well. TJ

Just got home from work and showed Peg. Her comment was "I remember when you looked like that." LMAO I think Globe would be a good starting point to taking it on the road Amanda. Maybe I can quit my day job. NOT! TJ

Thoughts and prayers go out to your Grandpa. I'm sure he has given you lots of memories to remember him by when his time on earth ends. God bless your Grandpa and prayers for family and friends as well to carry you through these hard times of losing a loved one. TJ

Sorry, but why would you be foolish to tell what the material the blade was made out of? Just curious! TJ

A big congratulations on your first buck and a dandy one at that. Cody, please do me and yourself a favor and start yourself a journal while you still have it fresh in your mind. I know now you think it will stay in your mind forever but believe me if you live long enough it will fade due to something we can't help. Old age! Keep us all posted on your next hunt and thanks for sharing. TJ
