UNSPORTSMAN LIKE CONDUCT!!!!
tjhunt2 replied to Buckhunter's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
TLH.....that's a great idea. I just put up two new ones yesterday and don't even have a lock on them. I bought cheap locks and they weren't big enough. Ingraving your name somewhere is an excellent idea. Thanks. Here's a pic from yesterday's cam. I have several pics of this little guy. Notice his right antler is growing out next to his eye. -
Wow, that was some hunt. Thanks for sharing. Glad everyone made it ok and sorry for laughing thru your story. TJ

Thanks everyone! My wife wanted me to stay home and have a little get together for my birthday but I decided I wanted to spend it in my elk unit and spent the day checking cameras and sleeping out under the stars alone. Spent most of today there also until the rain ran me home. Found out when I got home my Dad & I drew our 22 wt tags. That's what I call the perfect birthday. Amanda...I knew you hadn't forgotten me.

My vote is going with Archery Headquarters in Chandler. After reading the post on hear I would say that an issue could be made about every shop sooner or later. My experience with Randy, George, and the guys, at Archery Headquarters, has been nothing but first class. TJ

While in the woods/desert
tjhunt2 replied to KGAINES's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I would have to say rattlers are second on my list after fearing myself. I never thought I would ever admit that but the older I get the fear of hurting myself on every trip out crosses my mind. I do most of my scouting alone, which worries the wife, and tend to still over do it until I hurt. Please say the body isn't getting old! TJ -
Scout'em.....congratulations to you and the wife on your first. You got a gun and she got sparklers. I thought they were illegal here in Az. Sounds like you're off to a great future with the better half. TJ

Everything from now on just isn't worth going after. Thanks for ruining it for everyone. Unbelievable! Thanks for sharing but not sure I would have. Do you have to look over yout shoulder everywhere you go now?

Gutless Field Dressing

Thanks for showing her Mike. All the hard work that went into Amber definitely has made it easier on many of backs including mine. It has the gutless method beat all to heck. TJ -
Gutless Field Dressing

Actually, I can't remember how many elk we have brought into our elk camp with the help of Game Haulers's Game Getter called Amber. You drive to the elk and pick it up, take it away from the water hole and gut it hung by Amber, and then drop it back in Amber and take it to camp where you skin it as you pull it up into the tree with a vehicle and have a few cocktails as you skin it out in comfort. It never got any easier than that. That has been our preferred way but we have had to do the gutless a few times. The gutless way is the way to go if you don't have a trophy elk. A trophy elk is bull or cow that can be driven to. Maybe GameHauler will post a pic of Amber for those who haven't seen her. TJ -
Gutless Field Dressing
tjhunt2 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Definatley not a good example with the antelope! We skin the whole animal not just the front shoulders. As far as being clean I think its by far very clean! The last few bulls weve killed have ranged from 1/2 mile to 2 miles from the nearest point we could get any vehicle to so we bone it out right there. So I guess my question to Jeremy is how do you do it? Jermey have you ever tried it or you just baggin on it??? OH BTW what does your comment mean when you said the guy in the field does not want to get dirty and would rather sacrifice game meat? Huntn coues.....I'm with you on this one. Waiting for the answers myself. Yes you still have to be a little careful with hair, like any other method, but this method works great if you can't hang'em yourself. TJ -

Let me guess, they had a cake for ya and a girl popped up out of it wearing nothing but a coueswhitetail t-shirt. WhooooHoooo! Wish I could have seen that. All joking aside, you are a great sport and take a lot of ribbing and you deserve to have a great Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY and may the hunting Gods treat you right in the up coming draw. TJ -

Not only is this a monster bull to a 11 yr old it is to me as well. TJ

I got it all figured out now. I was wondering why I haven't seen Outdoorwriter on here lately. He changed his name to snakekiller, 11 yrs old, but when I saw the quality of this so called monster elk picture it all clicked. It's Outdoorwriter in disguise. How many others figured Tony out? TJ

Looks like a good spot. Thanks for sharing. TJ -
Thanks Amanda, I woke up to coffee and a slide show of your trip. Now that has started my day off right. It's been about 12 yrs since I've been over to Klondike. Bought some home made jerky there that tasted like it was made back in the 60's. They weighed it on an old scale as you bought it. I don't recall beong in the area were you were but after viewing your pics it makes me want to go back. The deer is just above the v. The horizonal back line of the deer caught my eye first. Sounded like you all had a great trip. TJ
