Happy BD Younghunter
tjhunt2 replied to GameHauler's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hey Christain, I hope you have a great Birthday and good luck in the draw. TJ -
Not only is this a monster bull to a 11 yr old it is to me as well. TJ

I got it all figured out now. I was wondering why I haven't seen Outdoorwriter on here lately. He changed his name to snakekiller, 11 yrs old, but when I saw the quality of this so called monster elk picture it all clicked. It's Outdoorwriter in disguise. How many others figured Tony out? TJ

Looks like a good spot. Thanks for sharing. TJ -
Thanks Amanda, I woke up to coffee and a slide show of your trip. Now that has started my day off right. It's been about 12 yrs since I've been over to Klondike. Bought some home made jerky there that tasted like it was made back in the 60's. They weighed it on an old scale as you bought it. I don't recall beong in the area were you were but after viewing your pics it makes me want to go back. The deer is just above the v. The horizonal back line of the deer caught my eye first. Sounded like you all had a great trip. TJ

little miss Huntn coues.....welcome to the site and it will be good to get some fresh air on here at last. Congratulations on your elk tag and I wish you all the best on your hunt. You have one up on everyone with all that experience that runs in the family. Keep us all updated on your hunt and post some pics of your scouting and hunting trips. Good luck, shoot straight, and welcome again to the site. TJ

I made a 190mi. rd trip today just caus I couldn't take it any longer. I just had to know if I had any pics. After pulling my SD card and viewing it I was sure I was going to see a bear but no such luck. After replacing a new card I walked to my salt to see if the camera would take and it did. I walked 15 yds back to my camera and only 30 sec had ran off and I turned back to the salt and a bear was walking right towards me. I figured he hadn't seen me yet and I, for the life of me, couldn't find my camera. I had placed it on my belt just in case I needed it in a situation like this but with all the excitement I was in a total melt down. Now, I had the bear in the salt and I bent down to look for the camera in my pack and he finally saw me and ran off. I was shaking like a leave and looked to see if the trail cam caught it but it was just finishing count down for the next pic. The only picture I would have would be the one in my head. He was blond with black legs. It was a great day. Here's a few pics for ya. TJ This is the odd antler bull

Cam Pics in Rim Country

Casey.....I thought of you the minute I saw this bull. They say things like this sometimes come from an injury. You are known for shooting antlers off animals, correct? If so, maybe we might change his name from the Odd Bull to Casey Critter. TJ dang TJ, that is freakin harsh! Either way, I'll glady take a shoot at him.... However, if I recall correctly, I do believe Chrissy shot a bull in the base of his antler with his bow... Am I wrong? When you get as old as I am you loose your sense of who's who. Casey....you're probably right. Maybe Chrissy's bull ran all the way down into 22. Why didn't I think of that one? TJ -

Great news Jim. Now go find us some more critters to look at on here. You need to start being a little nicer to the wife. You got me scared to death. I could see that happening to me as well. TJ

Snuffer...one hick of a nice deer. Congrats to your boy and what a hole that rage left. I shot one in my broadhead target this last summer and it fell apart. I took them right back to SWH. Maybe I should give them another try. TJ

A big congratulation to Tyler on that critter. I can't get enough of pictures like that. I hope Tyler gets someone to start keeping track of his kills. TJ

Any idea what this coues bunny would score? I'm not going to give his exact location just in case someone gets any idea of going after him. TJ -

Don't rightly know but I have a couple more picks of him and it definitely is growing out of the wrong spot. TJ -
Snakekiller....welcome to the site. Not bad for your first trail cam at age 11. Keep them coming. I hope to have some to share with you after going up to Payson tomorrow and pulling my cards and hanging a few more of my own. Keep up the good work! TJ

Thanks for sharing Amanda. I bet them finds that you say have been there for some time are hard to leave behind. I know the San Carlos don't allow you to take them. Looks as though your dogs really enjoy being out there with you. Great pics. TJ -
Huntn coues summed it up pretty well. The only other thing I like to do is add a ground cloth to keep the dust and noise down. I have used indoor/outdoor carpeting but have recently gone to a cargo blanket from Harbor Freight which has black on one side for additional darkness. I prefer a 4 legged chair with a comfortable back and arm rest but just make sure you shoot out of it before hunting with it. Good luck on your hunt. TJ

It was a good trip and only a few boats on the river. Here are a few pics.

Can You Find The Animal In This Pic?

Thanks for sharing the pics. It does help to pass the time until d-day. TJ -
Snapshot..yea, that is what the fishing report says but the few fisherman we talked to said it hasn't taken off yet. I didn't get to fish it the way I wanted due to some boat motor trouble and getting sick which kept me in the motel room all day yesterday. No, I didn't get to wade fish on this trip. The scenery, as you know, made up for the lack of fish caught. It definitely isn't the good old days of the 70's. TJ
