Our Best Friend who we will miss
tjhunt2 replied to 125coues's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Peg and I are sorry about Duke. They do become a true friend and family member for life. Thanks for sharing with us Duke's picture. It was good seeing you and Kathy at the outdoor show this year. Good luck with your caribou hunt and how are things coming with the bed&breakfast in Williams? Take care and hi to Kathy. TJ -
My plans are to arrive Friday around noon to actually see if people really exist behind these forum names. TJ

RIP UP THOSE AZG&F SURVEY CARDS!!!!
tjhunt2 replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I'm not sure how far back these survey cards go but I can remember me thinking if everyone would say they were unsuccessful then I believed g&f would never go to a draw for pigs. I was not helping g&f one bit by falsifying information they so much depended on. I do know why some of you feel the way you do and that is your right but I don't think tearing them up and falsifying information is the answer here. I was wrong back then when all I thought about was killing my next critter instead of doing my part in helping manage for the critters I enjoyed pursuing. IMO...I strongly believe that if one is not happy with the way g&f is handling things then one needs to do their part assisting g&f collect the most accurate information they can with the situation now in place until mandatory survey is implemented. Yes, I am in favor of mandatory survey. The survey is a tool and if used correctly, (truthful information), can be a big asset for the g&f. TJ -

These binos are a really good price for someone looking to buy. I bought a pair from Ray 6 months back and haven't regretted it since except for loosing a little blood. My wife had me sign in blood that I would give her all my savings until they were paid for. OUCH! I checked around and you save hundreds on these. They even come with a camera adaptor, tripod adaptor, and a very nice case. Ray was excellent to deal with and will work out any details you have I'm sure. If I had the money I would buy them as well. Good investment! Good luck Ray and happy hunting. TJ

I've stepped beside them, over them, and even had one strike my boot but have escaped a bite somehow. I use to kill everyone I saw but have not killed one in over 10 or so years. I finally realized they are here for a reason and they are neat to look at. I would kill another if it gave me reason though. TJ

Coueschaser3....has your friend ever hunted 22s before? Jim is right about it being a tough hunt. Plenty of scouting is the key to success in this unit. Good luck to your friend on his hunt! TJ

Where Are You Going to be Opening Morning?
tjhunt2 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
REAL funny Casey! Even I got that one. Don't let anyone see you crying after all the yelling & screaming. All kidding a side, good luck and I hope you make it. Best of luck! I'll be sleeping in on opening day. No since in getting it over with to soon. Breakfast, coffee around the camp fire in the morning, a mid afternoon nap, and then enjoy the rest of the day looking thru the binos. Don't hurry a good thing. TJ -

Coues & Sheep said I was gobbling up to much of Amanda's web site so I deleted all the gobbler pics but Ted's bird. Sorry Amanda! I'll figure this down sizing one of these days. TJ

Jackshoe (Ted Bounds) and I decided to give it one last try and headed up to our area Tuesday with no luck that afternoon. We couldn't get a peep out of any of them turkeys. We decided on an area where we had seen some tracks and were up at 3:15am and were in our spot by 4:30am. after carrying in the doublebull blind and 2 chairs. We set up on a ridge and waited for daylight. I started with a few hen yelps but had no response. We decided if a turkey was in our area, it had heard us, so we chose to be quite and not get aggressive. At 5:55 this turkey walks by the blind and I turn to Ted and find him sleeping. I nudged his leg and he opens his eyes and realizes this isn't a dream. He slowly raises his gun and lets the safety off. The #6's did the trick at just 15yrds. It was a tough year for turkeys but we managed to get 10 out of 14 from our camps. Here's a few pics. [
