I'm not to sure about all the screaming back and forth about Global Warming effecting our weather pattern but I do know for sure it has affected our gravity pull on earth. Some of you youngsters haven't been around long enough to realize what global warming has done to our gravity as in lbs of pull. From the beginning of time when the first apple fell from the tree man realized there was this thing called gravity. If that same apple were to fall from a tree today it would definately put a larger indentation in the ground. Do I have scientific proof of this? You bet I do! When I die I have left my body, through the donor list, for scientist to study this global warming affect on gravity. 30 yrs ago I weighed 155lb @ 5'5" and now 220lb. I once could run up any mountain here in Az but the pull of gravity has affected that task to a walk at its best, with many breaks in between. A 75lb. backpack 30 yrs ago would weigh 150lb. today. Just how bad has it gotten? I know a fishing buddy who shows an old picture of a 5lb. bass he caught and that same bass has doubled in weight over 20 years. I really believe it has something to do with the removing of the trees from the rain forest. Don't be fooled by this weather, its the gravity pull that will put you 6 ft under someday. TJ

Javi pit roast? That's right up my alley. I haven't had one in quite a long time due to me making sausage out of them now. Javi is my favorite thing to hunt and just watch for hours. Something about them just fascinates me! I'm always looking for new heards to view. When's the cook out? TJ

Thanks all, some of the birds came easy and others were hard to get. Are you having your bird mounted Ryan? They are expensive but make for a great mount. TJ You guys killed probably half the birds that were killed up there ....Unfortunately I'm not going to get him mounted. I will probably just buy one of those plaques to put the fan and beard on. Don't leave your fan feathers laying around like I did. I accidently threw my beard out with the garbage and my dog ate the tail feathers I laid on the table and forgot about. Oh well, there's always next year. TJ

Jim, looks like Hunter is going to keep the family heritage going for sure. Congratulations to Hunter on his first bass and all of you guys, for making it happen for him, as well. Sapshot, sounds like it is going to be a good time but the 12th is my every other weekend to work. I am going to miss the spanking Christian is going to get. That would be worth going for right there. TJ

Yep, she was in the Miss USA but didn't make the top 15. To bad she didn't have all my looks or she might have made it. Ted and I are skipping work the next couple days so he can try and accomplish what you did. Congratulations again on your first bird. TJ

If it's legal, it's ethical. -TONY Tony, I think the point you are not addressing with that statement is that there is a difference between Morally Ethical and Legally Ethical. There is a difference to me, anyhow, and if we all chose the high road more often then we (hunters) would look less the bad guy in the eyes of those folks that are on the fence.... Knowing and Staying within your (and your equipment's) limitations can & will make you a better and more Morally Ethical hunter. IMO. And that I believe is what most of the guys are saying as well. The only point I'm addressing is the one several members consistently state here. The words speak for themselves -- "if it's legal, it's ethical." I can't recall who first coined that phrase . Besides, there is NO such thing as "Legally Ethical." If something is illegal, ethics do not come into the picture, lawful conduct does. Ethics involve issues OUTSIDE of those proscribed by law -- a self-regulating system of proper conduct. TJ, It was SARCASM, thus the . -TONY Tony.... don't worm out of this one. If I would run across an animal that had been hit by a vehicle, it is illegal to put it out of it's misery according to the law. The first difinition under ethics...the study of standards of conduct and moral judgement; the first difinition under moral... is relating to, dealing with, or capable of making the distinction between right and wrong in conduct. I don't care what the law saids it is ethical to put that animal out of it's misery IMO. TJ

Casey, I have been wanting to get back up there myself. I fished it a couple of times and used my fly rod. The fishing wasn't excellent but still good. Looking forward to meeting you and your Dad at the get together as long as it falls on my every other weekend off. TJ

If I'm not mistaken, the other outing is the third weekend in June, 21&22. Whenever it is it is. Firstcoueswas80 suggested the second weekend in June. I think that would be to close together for me anyways. I use to be able to party that often before the global warming aged me. Beer & fish is right up my alley. Wlkman did say walley, right? It don't get any better than that! I'll help out where ever I'm needed. My specialty is guarding the beer coolers. TJ

Heck, 80 yards is the new 50 There are a bunch of folks out there right now that "launch" arrows as soon as they near that 100 yard mark It sickens me to see it or hear about it........total lack of respect for the animal and the image of bowhunting, and is only done becuase people are so eager to impress and be successful...regardless of how they achieve it! I do know a few folks and have guided a few that truely are capable of taking a 80 yard shot. These folks practice religiously and can group arrows tighter at 80 than most can at 30. Like has been said before, sometimes that once in a lifetime buck or bull may hang up at 80 yards........if that's within your range and you're confident, consistent and are able to range the critter.....then take the shot. OTHERWISE letdown and get closer....no reason to chance wounding a critter......and if you still feel like flingin' an arrow just to see where it hits, then you need to take up bowling and get out of my woods! What it all boils down to is that we all know deep down inside what our limitations are and each one of us knows when we are exceeding our own limits and taking a chance at wounding an animal.......it's not fair to the animal or the sport by taking chances like that. There's my $.02 JIM> Hold on their partner. Why would a 80 yard bow shot sicken you more than a 500 yard rifle shot? There is a bunch of people on this very sight that fire away as soon as they get to the 500 yard mark or more. They even brag about it. What is the wind drift on a 500 yard shot? What about all these volleys of shots that I consistently hear during early deer rifle season. 4- 5 quick shots. ARE THE DEER RUNNING, ARE THEY AT THE SAME DEER? Slob hunting is slob hunting. It is safe to say there is more slob rifle hunters then bowhunters, yet I sense there is more outrage at the so called " unethical bowhunter" This is hypocritical and I 'm sensitive. Bob I was just addressing my thoughts pertaining to the archers.......although it doesn't matter what weapon your using....limitations are limitations. Exceeding your limitations purely for hope that you MIGHT be successful is wrong......regardless what you are shooting with. What I say doesn't matter and won't change anything.......people have since the beginning of time and will continue to exceed their limitations, it's like gambling, they just want to see if they'll win or not and not worry about the consequences. I've done it and I'll bet that anyone who has much experience in hunting has done it, it's not right to do and we all need to try our best to be as ethical as we can while hunting. Jim, how right you are. I'm sure most of us have been there and I preach this all the time but most will experience it like we all did and hopefully they will learn a very valuable ethical lesson. You could be throwing Glass in a Stone house, there CC. There is a time and a place for shots like that.... and it has nothing to do with lazy. There are some of the best archery hunters in the country that can and will make an ethical kill at those ranges in the right conditions or situations..... .... I call it, Planning for the Worst, & Practicing to be the Best. It is only Lazy if it is done by some one who has not prepared for that kind of an opportunity. There are always those type of "hunters" in the woods..... but don't group the good with the bad. My $.02! +1 TJ
