Thanks Amanda for posting. Tony was a good friend and I will miss him dearly. We talked frequently and he enjoyed sharing his cooking, on facebook, up to the end. I moved to Az in the early 70s and I read lots of his articles over the years. I had the good fortune to share his last hunt with him. RIP my friend.

Thank you Andrew for your interest and submitting recommendations for the 2023-2028 hunt guidelines. I read all your recommendations. You definitely have a lot of good points, but with all due respect, I believe we have to be careful recommending some things because somethings usually never are reinstated once taken away. I’m referring to just a few things.
1. Eliminating crossbows as allowable archery equipment isn’t something I would recommend but I’m ok with tightening requirements for obtaining a crossbow.
2. I’m not in favor of restricting hunting over manmade water.
3. I wouldn’t recommend reducing archery elk season to 1 week.
Like I said, once taken away, usually we never get reinstated what we’ve lost.
Just my humble opinion.

Congratulations on a beauty of a ram. Didn’t know you drew because I haven’t been on here in a while. So happy for you!😀

Wow, this is amazing. Congratulations on a very nice ram. I’m pushing 70 and I better draw quick before I fall apart.

Congratulations on an awesome ram and thanks for sharing with us all. I’ve been putting in ever since I moved here from Ohio. There were a few years I couldn’t put in but have 28bp as of now.

Major Changes/Proposed Changes/Recommended Closers
It’s been happening to us hunters for some time now. Slowly but surely we are losing more and more hunt opportunities and just not archery deer hunts. There are many reasons I’m not aware of but I’m leaning towards anti hunting pressure rather than (Hard Data/Facts) from AZGFD. Just my humble opinion!

The Superstitions hold a special place in my heart. It's where I first started hunting when I came to Az. I've hunted the Reeves Ranch area and stayed in the cabin several times and camped in the orchard as well. I've rode horses in there and the wife and I have hiked in several places in our younger days. I have always called it my playground. Yes it saddens me that so much is burning. I hope and pray the monsoons get here fast but it's not looking good. ☹️

It's with a heavy heart I share the passing of a long time cwt member and friend Mike Leas, aka GameHauler. He passed away June 14th at his home in Payson, Az. He lift behind two beautiful daughters, Dani and Linnea. I had the pleasure of making many good memories with Mike and the girls on many hunts. One of my favorite Topics Mike started on here was "Let's See Them Kids". My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family and friends.

I just got done reading thru this whole post. First of all welcome to the coueswhitetail.com site. When I first came to Az, back in the early 70s, I too was looking for information on hunting deer as a newbie. I just wish I had this site to get me started on my way. Second of all, you definitely have started in the right direction by joining this site. The info you have received here so far is from hunters who are sharing their experiences they have learned over their years of hunting. It doesn't get any better than this. This is what sets this site apart from all other hunting forums, guys wanting to help, and believe me you have a whole lot of good pointers from great guys who no what they are talking about. Good luck in the draw. If you don't draw 24B don't worry. There will be lots of great left over tags in the southern units with lots of good deer hunting.
Not much to add from what has already been said. It's never to early to start scouting the unit. Even if you don't draw where you're scouting the experience of glassing and looking for deer will help no matter where you hunt. Good luck! 😊

I was told many many years ago that we had hybrids and I also was told by azgf that the tail would be the main factor in determining muley or whitetail. I say whitetail. Never the less it's a dandy of a buck.

It’s been 16yrs this last April since I was introduced to CWT. I lived on here day and night before I retired. Met some really great people on here and made friend with so many. CWT stickers on most of my toys and worn out many coueswhitetail t-shirts. There isn’t enough time for me to thank Amanda, the friends I’ve made, all the help that made me a better hunter, and those I’ve never met in person but feel like we’ve been friends for years. Thanks again to all my CWT family members and friends.
