Elkaholic unfortunatly I am still learning alot about my 308 . I have worked up anouther load that seems to be shooting great out to 700yards on paper but still have not had a chance to pull the trigger on anything farther than 200yrds.I took my rifle on a hunt my good friend had this year in 24b and I let him shoot his 1st coues with my rifle.Hopefully this weekend I will get a shot since I will be in 36b .If it does not happen then maybe next year when the wife and I go on a speedgoat hunt in Wy.

My wife and I are on are way to the big easy we will be spending time at places to eat and drink are share of hurricanes at pat obrians .this is are first trip to new Orleans I have my comes whitetail stickers.if anyone has suggestions on places to go fill free to list.

I am up at my friends in Williams and we just got done watching a couple of big bulls up on the hill across the road fighting.after dinner we will be going to check out a few camps to see how they are doing .if they have any I will get pics.

I would but that is my work weekend,this is a great dealfor a fully guided speed goat hunt.All you without elk tags should be all over this plus if you have a new long range shooter this would be the hunt to go see just how good it really is.

Most outfitters will let you reschedule your hunt for the following year, some will charge a fee and some do not.Maybe you should give them a call and explain your story and see what they will do for you.Then your son and you will get to enjoy that time.The price you are asking for is a steal of a deal if I did not already make plans for that week my wife and I would be calling.

hornady 168-a-max,43grs rl-15,lapua brasswith cci br-2 primers (I still cannot locate any federal match grade primers).This is the load I shoot in my little sweetheart 308 . I am looking for a Browning A-bolt II varmint stalker in 243wssm .I have looked on gunbroker and there were none available.If someone has one or might know of somewhere else to look please post it. Thanks

Just wanted to let everyone who will be hunting or camping in the Kaibab forest to know about the road closures and camping area closures.The Kaibab forest service has put out a map showing the only roads that are open for driving a vehicle on and these are the only ones we are allowed to use.They will only allow you to travel up to 1 mile off these roads to retrieve a downed elk.Thats 1 vehicle 1 trip. they also will only allow you to camp no more than 30 feet off a opened road.I would suggest if you are going to be hunting or camping in the Kaibab any time soon to get one of these maps at thier office.They will not be putting up any road closed signs they expect all users of the forest to know these new rules.

It might get delayed a bit cuz of the special meeting tomorrow to decide on lowering the turkey tags in unit 1 and 27 due to the fire. ?? who knows, kinda like the antelope situation this year delayed the draw a bit.

Tuesday my dear friend called me and told me she had some terrible news, her house had been robbed. She proceded to tell me that our Polaris Ranger that was in her garage was stolen along with one of her quads. They trashed her house looking for who knows what. They took a pair of 8X Swarovski's but left her 15's on the tripod sitting in the living room??? They torched, cut and pried open her gun safe that was in the shop, took over 18 guns, but left about 12??? The things they took does not make a lot of sense, so the sherrif's think that they were tweekers. We lost 2 double bull blinds, 2 hang on tree stands, 2 spare tires, a bag of tools and parts. We do have insurance to cover the Ranger, but will cost us to buy a new one. We are going to get a list of the guns that were stolen to post, so that people can keep an eye out for. Our Ranger is a 2007 with faded out camo that looks purple now, had the lock and ride system, roof, windshield and back, we have the doors still at the house. If anyone sees and ad or hears of someone selling stuff, we would appreciate hearing about it. This theft took place just outside of the town of Williams, off of I-40. We will keep ya posted. Just wondering what going on. Last thing about the banquet that was said was something about filling another table! Since the last post there has not been even a peep about the banquet. I am starting to wonder if my wife and I are going to be sitting at a half empty table.I let Amanda know that I will buy a ticket for a person in the military,so if any of you guys and gals know of such a person do not forget to let Amanda know , and if that person wants to bring there spouse or kid I will also cover the cost of a second ticket.
