  5. I've had the nikon monarch 10x42's for a while and love them...but last year i "moved up" to Vortex Viper 15's. The 15's are life-changing when it comes to counting points, etc. (at longer distances), but a tripod is certainly required for my taste. I cannot comfortably spend very much time behind them off-hand...can't hold them still enough. In short, the 10's are my all-purpose binos providing plenty of power and are extermely comfortable on the move - they also do very well on a tripod. The 15's are awesome, but I have to setup on a tripod to reap their benefits. A more "top of the line" brand may help resolve this, I'm not sure, but unfortunately I don't get out enough to justify the extra $$. Good luck and I would also advise you to visit one of the large sporting good stores to see which brands "fit" your face, if you have the chance. Apparently, my eye spacing may be closer than some and I had trouble getting a few of the major brands to close tight enough together...You will also get a side-by-side comparison of quality. Once you decide on brand, then you can likely find a smoking deal online.

    Online draw system fails AGAIN!

Same problem for me last night...tried again this morning and the site was still failing.
  8. For what it's worth... I once switched from Remington Core-Lokt to Hornady factory ammo at the last minute and it made a HUGE difference at 100 YDs (inchES). I'll never trust a last minute switch again.

    Tripod adapter

I'm in the same boat as DBArcher...I need a new adaptor for my 10x42 Monarchs. A few years back I bought the nikon version at Sportsmans in Tucson, but somehow lost the threaded portion during last years hunt. Now Sportsmans can't seem to get the adaptors back in stock and I'm tired of waiting, plus there seems to be overwhelming support for the Jim Whites. Can someone familiar with the Jim White Adaptors please confirm that I should order this one from CWT.com: "Front Mount binocular adapter" - fits all binoculars with a 1/4 inch by 20 tapped hole at the center of the frame. (Pentax, Swift, Nikon, etc.) (From Amanda's Link: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/adaptors.htm) ...this seems to be the only model that mentions Nikon, but i wanted to make sure before ordering. Thanks in advance!

    The "Spending Bill"

As “millions”, “billions”, and “trillions” roll off the tongue so easily these days, it can be difficult to wrap your head around the magnitude of the proposed federal stimulus package. Here are a few examples that may help put the quantities being proposed into perspective. 1 million seconds: ±11.5 days 1 billion seconds: ± 32 Years 1 trillion seconds: ± 31,688 Years 1 million inches = ±15.8 Miles 1 billion inches = ± 15,783 Miles 1 trillion inches = ± 15,782,828 Miles A stack of one-dollar bills*: 1 million bills: ±358 Feet Tall 1 billion bills: ± 67.9 Miles Tall 1 trillion bills: ± 67,866 Miles Tall *assuming a dollar bill has a thickness of .0043” 1 million ounces: ±62,500 pounds 1 billion ounces: ± 31,250 Tons 1 trillion ounces: ± 31,250,000 Tons

    Monarch ATB Tripod adaptor

I found that adapter (from your link) at Sportsmans about a year and a half ago...it definitely has to be removed for comfortbale harness use. I'll be watching this thread closely, hoping for ideas as well!

    Mid November AA 34a hunt

CK, We've noticed the same thing on the other side of the valley...coues and muleys running together at about 3600 elevation (and lower)...definitely down in the flats and not the foothills. Some of the mule deer hunters I know started tipping everyone off to the WT, now a LOT of the coues hunters that I know prefer the low country...I guess primarily because there is less hunter pressure down low during the coues rifle hunts. We've noticed the terrain makes it very difficult to find the bucks. With very little topographic relief, you have to either spot them a mile away and be sneaky as heck, and/or have cat like reflexes...if you come across something by happen stance, one hop and it's gone. My pop's open sight 30-30 is either completely useless (if we glass them from a distance) or the only way to go (if we kick somehting out). -JTH

  20. Thanks for the input. Looks like I'll be contacting Nikon!
  21. Does anybody have any experience finding local replacement eye cups for Nikon Binoculars? As warned on this forum, I probably should have just saved for Swaro's! ...I still like my Nikon's (for what they cost) but a small crack in the plastic threads of the eye cup became very annoying as the eye cup is constantly falling off. Had to finish up my hunt with old electric tape holding everything together. I'm pretty sure I can contact Nikon due to their "no-fault warranty" but I was hoping to find the piece locally and try to eliminate any coordination/shipping delays. I'm south of Tucson, wondering if Sportsman's carries anything? Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Want to buy

Also keep an eye out for the "International Residential Code" (IRC), we built a house 2006-2007 and Pima County Develpoment Services (from a permitting perspective) references the the IRC a lot...i found myself spending a few hours at a public library where most of the references/codes are available. It is not ideal, but i did get the info i needed.

    Elk Sign

If anybody really wants to do the math, here are the ADOT specifications for the sign. Elk Warning Sign Once you deterine the size of the sign (36" or 48"), you maybe able to make some assumptions on the dimensions in the graphic...and then scale up to a typical/well known dimension on an average bull to determine its score. I am way too lazy. Good Luck.

    Political E-scouting

The link below should provide some general answers to the hot national issues...hopefully it is helpful to you. Once you answer a few questions it will provide a list of the candidates who you have the most in common with. FIND YOUR CANDIDATE http://www.wqad.com/Global/link.asp?L=259460 But you're right...you'll probably agree on one/few issues and lose out on another (especially pertaining to the "mainstream" candidates).
