A day glassing with Duwane Adams

Kast, I have went on 6 unit 1 bow elk hunts, 1 unit 1 muzzleloader elk, 2 kaibab muley rut hunts, 1 colorado muley hunt, 1 NM antelope hunt, 1 javelina hunt, a few AZ coues hunts and 1 Mexico hunt and a few scouting trips. In each and every time out with Duwane, I learn something and pick his brain with questions. It has been invaluable experience not to mention he is just a great guy to be around.............Allen....................

A day glassing with Duwane Adams

Kast, I have taken the guide apprentice program and of course glassing lessons etc. It is the best money you can spend, Duwane is by far the best hunter I have ever hunted with and really can increase your skills by his teaching. You can read books and buy all kinds of gadgets but learning from a pro is so much more efficient..........Allen Taylor..........

A day glassing with Duwane Adams

If everyone wants to do this, we would need to get going because once September rolls around, Duwane is tied up pretty much the rest of the year. Sept Elk, October early elk rifle/mzz, Nov. Kaibab, December late hunts then Mexico late Dec-January for coues/muleys.......Allen...........

A day glassing with Duwane Adams

That is some of the best money you can spend. He will show you tactics/tips and other ways to glass more effectively than you will learn in years on your own. Glad you spent the time. Maybe we should have a CW sponsored glassing day where we set up a group from CW and have Duwane come and give a presentation out in the hills?...............whats everyone think?.............Allen Taylor...........

Rebuild Water Catchments in Unit 9

Jim says some very valid points: Give your money at the functions or your time at the work projects. Whichever we end up doing, it goes directly to our Arizona wildlife. There are alot of people that can give money but many many issues can be solved in donating your TIME to either be a project member, or board member, committee member etc....most all of our Arizona conservation organizations are really hurting for volunteers so anything anyone here on CW can help with will be very appreciated..........Thanks Jim for all you do............Allen Taylor...........
  11. Doug, great tips. Are you a photographer? If so, send Amanda a note if you would be interested in being a presenter at the ADA deer clinic. I just spoke via email with Kevin Harris the ADA president and they are in need of a speaker for "Photography" for the deer clinic. They have Duwane Adams speaking on Muley/Coues hunting, S.W. meats for game processing-(Mike Miller I think) and Leonard Ordaway from the game dept. but they are still in need of a Photographer so maybe you could give this presentation????? Think about it and send me or Amanda an email and we will get you in touch. Thanks again for this info, it is very important.............Allen Taylor............

    Couple more pics...

Dan, you shouldnt hunt those little deer and tiny elk, take me up on a guest pass and let me cull the elk and coues herd for you...........LOL>................Allen.........thanks for the great pictures, hope you shoot a monster this year.........
  14. I just watched Extreme bulls 3 and it is a fantastic DVD. Couple of our CW members are on there, coosefan (Mullins guide service) and CouesKrazy outfitters. There are alot of monster bulls on this DVD, some great bulls taken and some great bulls missed. I was really hoping Jay Scotts wife killed a monster and yet, the bow string hit her sleave so "Murphy's law" kicked in and tripped her up. Anyway, ChappelandScott guide service put together a great DVD and I highly recommend it. I think Amanda sells them here on CW or if not, I am sure she will pretty soon. Some great footage to while away the time till bow season gets here..............thanks.............Allen Taylor..............

    Ocotillo bucks

I love Ocotillo's. I think the deer feel more safe in them and they love to eat the leaves. I think Brett and I talked about this a few years back, but I would glass the heck out of ocotillo's............Allen...........

    Video review - Xtreme bulls3

Glad those who watched this liked it. you can get the video at www.chappellandscotthunts.com 1-800-383-6223 or at the Sportsmans warehouse. I really liked this video better than the last, and for 20.00 it is a great way to get further excited about this years hunts............Allen Taylor.........
  17. Bill Q: two or three weeks ago we were camping up on the upper log. I have a picture of a black rattler just up the road from the bridge where you turn left to head towards Holly Lake. I believe this is above 8000 feet. I will get my son to post this picture..........Allen..........
  18. Great pics Ernesto..............That rattlesnake looks like an Arizona Black Rattler. I happened to see one a couple weeks ago while fishing the white river (upper log) and had never seen one up there before so when I got back into town, I searched the internet and got to a website for Arizona rattlesnakes and it said it was a black rattler. Anyway, great pictures and looks like you had a great time..............Allen...........

That is a very nice looking deer. Bet you were happy to finally get the mount back and hang it up. Congrats.............Allen..........

Brett, I will keep an eye out for your beer theiving hands..........LOL..........I plan on being in Duwane's camp so if anyone needs their boots cleaned or dishes done, look me up.........LOL..........congrats Lee and your wife on the Kaibab tag, hope she has the time of her life and shoots a monster.........Jim, if you and your dad have too many tags, let me know, I will take one of them off your hands...............Allen.............

    Zeiss 15x45 What's the worth

Treestandman: I am totally sorry if I have irritated or offended in any way. I have used this specific binocular at the advice of Duwane Adams in certain situations like antelope hunting, Kaibab hunting, Mexico muley hunting in the flats and they are pretty good glass. There is no replacement for a tripod and stability. I think in some situations the 15's by Zeiss are pretty good where that extra bit of power can help before you set up to pick an area apart. Here is an example: On the Kaibab it is huge area and you may be moving around alot looking for a big buck. In your looking for this buck, doe groups/bases are important so while moving you will occasionally throw your glasses up to check out areas sometimes a mile away. It is much easier to tell if there is a deer a mile away with 15's than 10's but you dont stop and set up a tripod for these occasional looks. Anyway each person develops a style and I have luckily developed a friendship with Duwane and he has taught me a few things that I really listen too and he just picked up a set of these three years ago and uses them in specific situations that seem to really work. He never has nor never will use them to replace his 15x56 SLC's they are apples to oranges in comparison but the Zeiss for some types of hunting can be a good glass..........again, sorry if I offended.............Allen........

    Cabelas or the Sportsmens Warehouse?

After going to Cabela's, I was kinda let down. I guess after all the hype, I expected to see more selection in the pack section but couldnt find even one Eberlstock pack (which is what I was going to buy for my son). I went to the optics counter to buy some replacement lens covers for my 10x42 SLC's and they dont carry any parts/pieces just the bino's according to the counter person. I went to the bow section to possibly buy a youth bow and the counter person said they did not have a youth bow section. It is probably me and my over expectations after all the hype, but for my money, Sportsmans so far is my choice. I actually went there today and bought the pack and bino lense covers with not a problem............Allen Taylor......

    Shipping Hides/Antlers

Jim, get on Monster Muleys and send HunterHarry an email and post this question there. I am pretty sure you will have to split the skull plate but if you get a bull that is B&C potential, then they probably have a carrier that can air ship the horns as is without any skull splitting. As for the meat, once its frozen, you can carry on some of it in boxes as additional luggage ( just check the weight maximum's) and then pay for the rest to either be extra luggage checked on your plane or shipped. When I came back from Kodiak, we packaged my deer meat in an empty suitcase and checked it on as an additional bag. The horns were real small compared to a moose, so they were not an issue. Just post this question on MM and you should get some good responses that will help out.............Allen..........

    Zeiss 15x45 What's the worth

The weight on the 15x45 Zeiss is less than the 10x42 swaro's. I dont ever go without a tripod but for different types of hunting like antelope or when you are moving, you sometimes have the 10's around your neck. In this case since you are getting a 5x more bino that weighs the same as the 10x42 and is very crisp, I like the Zeiss. It will never replace my 15x56 SLC's but is still a great piece of glass for the money.......Allen. p.s. I have never used my 15x56's around my neck, never will and know they are way too heavy............
