Summer camo - NON-COTTON!
coueshunter replied to DesertBull's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Desertbull: I found some poly/cotton blends in the cheaper camo at walmart that has worked well just because it breathes. It is like the liberty brand or something with the iguana on it, dark brown/rusty color blending in well with the dirt/rocks. I know what you are talking about, cotton adsorbs the water and doesnt wick away the moisture. I am pretty sure Under Armor now makes camo colors, just saw it out at Cabela's.........Allen.......... -
Need good bino's, your opinion counts!
coueshunter replied to mulie hunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
For 500.00 or less, the fujinons are your best option getting 5x more so you can glass longer distances. Also I just left the new Cabelas out in Glendale and they have some Kahles 10x42 in the bargain cave for 500.00 that would be a great pair of bino's depending on the power you want. Kahles is a Swarovski company............Allen......... -
I am not a ballistic expert either, but know that placement is number 1. I personally would look up the ballistic coefficient on the 165 grain vs. 130 grain and look at using a partion in Federal Premium. I gonna guess that the 130 grain bullet may be a good choice even though it might sound too light...........have a great hunt..............Allen...........

My son drew a 36a junior either species tag so we are excited about that. I drew nothing and neither did my wife so we are on a 4 year drought but at least my son Travis has a tag............good luck to all those that drew. Any help for 36A junior tag would be appreciated............havent hunted the unit before...........Allen..................

shut out in az, too late for mexico?
coueshunter replied to bmf1321's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Brett, there should be alot of Mexico hunts available. If you want some advice, dont listen to the people that have "cheap hunts" available, go with someone who has done this before like the outfits mentioned here on this site. I have been to Mexico quite a few times hunting and guiding and it is not something you want to try and save a few bucks on. I had a nightmare experience three years ago buying some tags from the landowner and bringing some guys with me and the ranch was a bust. Plan on spending around 4,000.00 for a good hunt regardless of which outfitter you choose. Let the outfitter handle the paperwork for your guns if you want to bring your own, or pay to use one of their guns. Let the outfitter handle all the border paperwork and make sure one of the outfitters representatives is with you when you cross unless you fly into Hermosillo. I say all of this because each and every year there is/are problems at the border because somebody tried to cut corners and save money on a hunt. This is another country so let someone who knows the ropes handle the details while you go down and enjoy a wonderful hunt....................Hope you have fun and shoot a monster.............Allen Taylor............ -
I personally think the 15x45's are a great glass for the money. If I didnt have 10x42 slc's already, the 15x45 would be what I would buy. The 15x45's do not/will not replace 15x56's but for around the neck type glassing while you are moving etc. the 15x45's are great.................Allen.............

Dave, I hope you shoot a big one. Congrats on the goat tag and both the deer tags..............have fun...........my son drew a deer tag so I am looking forward to helping him out.............Allen..........

Michael, I know USGS has a map that covers most of this unit. I bought the map a few years back at wide world of maps in Phoenix. The name on the map was Sells. My son got this tag so I am in the market for maps as well so if you know of other better maps, let me know please.............Allen Taylor..........

I thought this might be a good topic. Why do most people want a spotter? What do they really use it for? I think most people would be best served by a tripod mounted pair of 15's and only use a spotter for scoring. Maybe this post will bring up good points and help some people buy the right equipment for themselves. What is everyones opinion on this subject...............Allen Taylor..........

Muleybull, that could be 39.00 for two deer tags if you applied for two people with the one card, or the charge for one deer tag got entered twice................Allen...........
-
I have a deer tag charge so either my son or I drew a tag..............cant wait to get out there after waiting two years for a tag..............Allen..........

I dont like to hear this. Hopefully they put this one out quick or it could be detrimental to the winter range............Allen.........

Sundevil said it right. I am not really sure what the NRA stands for after all the mudslinging during and after the Jennifer Martin issue. NRA seems somewhat out of touch with the regular members or at least their message is not totally clear to me..............Allen Taylor...........

I have the Bighorn (I think) it is 17x20 with the stove vent, the floor zips out around where the stove goes and it has alot of windows for air movement. I love the tent, it sets up easy and is real roomy. The storage bags are seperate for the poles/tent so it doesnt weigh too much to carry by yourself. Anyway, I like the tent. It will get condensation in it much worse than canvas if its raining, but that is the trade off for a lighter material............Allen..........
