KGaines: I have a sad story to tell, she shot a real nice bull 5x5 and we had it on video etc.....shot hit behind the left front shoulder and exited. We could not find the bull and we all are sick. I went back in the next morning and looked the rest of morning and we lost the blood trail. I had her shooting a .280 with 150 partitions and I really think the partition just punched through and didnt open up or hit any bones......anyway it was hard for her to take losing an animal.........Allen......

It will depend on where I am hunting but typically I walk about 1/2 hour to an hour to get set up. I dont hike all over, I glass my butt off and find the deer first then plan a stalk if there is a big enough buck.........Allen.....
-
count me #4 and my son Travis as #5.......we as a family were tagless last year except for my wife who drew a depredation hunt for elk in July.......hope this is the year.............Allen.......
-
Just buy it since its your brothers and you want an 06. What I would pay for it from my brother would be 200.00.......but again, what I think is secondary........just make sure you haggle and fight with your brother over the price...................LOL................Allen......

Last two years in unit 1/27 I have personally seen many bulls......seems like the ratio would be 2:1 bulls to cows............Allen.....opening morning of last years archery was great, we had approximately 10-15 bulls bugling and chasing in the timber..........only saw about 8 cows in that area.......
-
You will always be 10 years younger than me..........LOL......happy b-day...........Allen.....
-
Nut, I have the same dilema as you........my son Travis may draw the Kaibab or Early bull......I put him in seperately and hope if we draw our dates dont overlap or conflict..........Hope I have some problem WHEN I draw a tag........LOL........Allen.......
-
I am putting in anticipating the same as the last 6 years.......NADA........have never drawn any tag for Elk, Sheep, Antelope, Bear or premium deer. I have drawn 2 october coues tags...............hope this is my lucky year in AZ but if not, I think I will be going to CO on a landowner tag for Muleys.....come on draw gods..........Allen Taylor..........
-
I saw that Dan. I know that the Elk and Buff are a problem up on the Kaibab but to try and hunt all three at the same time is not going to be real efficient. I would probably buy the tag for buff if it wasnt too much...........hopefully I have this problem........LOL.........Allen.....
-
I personally have only put my tag on one buck 104". like most of you, I have passed and passed and helped out others. I am kinda stuck on 100" plus....Allen.....
-
Deer 1 Antelope 4 Elk 4 Sheep 2 I hope this is the year to draw and elk or premium deer tag but we will see......LOL......

My favorite coues gun is a 257 weatherby mag with 115 ballistic tips......4.5x14 leupold with premier reticle .........Allen......

Doug, I wasnt able to go but sure appreciated Mark Bool sending out a summary (that I forwarded to you a few seconds ago) about the meeting. I believe Amanda went and probably can give a great summary of where we are headed.......I sent Ben out a copy and I think I have the actual study from the firm ADA hired: Logan Simpson that I will fax to you and Ben. Just email me your fax number.......AT.........
-
Doug, send me an email at environmentalfiltration@msn.com and I will forward to you the email outlining what happened. I know most involved were happy with the meeting............Allen......

CHD: I am somewhat lost on this last post. If you truly want to help deer and share knowledge with others, then try and overlook stuff you may percieve as shortcomings in others.......you of all people must know that many computer jockies are just that.........basically I thought you did a great thing by volunteering your time for ADA projects, maybe help out on the political committees and now you dont like a pretty selfless post by other regulars????? what gives? I guess I expected you to buck up and help out.............to each his own........Allen...............
-
Glad some of you made it or will make it to future meetings......what I have learned about ADA is that most everyone is just a regular person who is donating their time to help wildlife.......we all have alot of committments but if you can donate any time at meetings or on other projects, it will be appreciated and I know that all the time and dollars goes directly to wildlife, no pay or perks for volunteers.......thanks again to everyone......AT.....
-
I am going to draw the coveted Kaibab tag so no coues for me in AZ this year.......LOL.........Allen.......
-
I think all of us are under time crunch.......I am sitting here in my house getting ready for the kids baseball today.......it is hard to get involved especially with family constraints........I wish I could go to all the things that are going on like 13b project........the Kaibab meeting is going to be very important.......I am hoping there is a good turnout............it seems like there is so many things happening and most people take a passive role when right now we need people to jump in and actively help out...........Thanks CHD for your passion, lets all learn and help out how we can..........thanks Muskrat...........thanks Wetmule, Amanda, et al........everyone who is helping..........Allen................

This is the best news for western states in years........thanks to everyone who sent out letters/emails...........Allen Taylor......

AZ4life: I hear you and yet I personally dont know any other way to get people involved. Almost all of the 500 memebers dont get involved on projects or at meetings, they just mail in their 25.00 and call their effort good...........I personally have been involved for a few years on ADA and do it because someone has to.......I bet wetmule and Amanda do it for the same reasons.........somehow someway Arizona needs to get people involved passionately with wildlife or we will lose out.........please spend some time thinking about what you can help out with........maybe you can be a board member or volunteer for Juniors projects, just about any help would be appreciated.........Allen Taylor.....
-
You guys, dont let wetmule fool you, he indiscriminately kills big coues as well as big muleys............Kevin is a professional photographer and I bet he has alot of fantastic pictures he would post here if we gave him a group hug.....LOL......or better yet, volunteer like CHD has for projects or being on the board..........Kevin, thanks for what you do......AT......

Chris, there is a project in 13b this weekend, get ahold of Don Martin: Mohave Sportsmen Club......Amanda can get the info posted here on the work project. As to the vegetation survey, its done and was done by a group of biologists that work with AZGFD on a regular basis. Logan Simpson Design Group. The information was presented to the commission and AZGFD if I am not mistaken and they chose to delay any action........We have a meeting scheduled for the Kaibab in the next couple weeks with the commissioners and other appropriate personell from various groups......the mission is to see in the field exactly what Logan Simpson is talking about........there have been and continues to be very important issues in all western states regarding wildlife. I am totally pleased with Reid's bill passing and being signed by GW........Bringing back states rights is the best thing to do.......CHD, I hope you are serious and really want to jump in with ADA and help out......Take care.......AT......

CHD: once again you make this a personal and emotional thread when its supposed to be about deer. I did call you out and you pointed out your lifetime membership etc......you pointed out how YOU are helping CW and ADA et al.....I could throw out the same and more financial support I have personally done but that is pointless...FYI I have three degrees, one in international marketing from International Christian University in Japan 1982, Management degreee from St. Martin's College and Marketing degree from St. Martin's College.......I paid my whole way through college, nobody in my family has.........I understand your statement about how hard it is, I did it..........I am not upset with Josh generalizing because he is right.........booksmarts does not nor will it ever replace common sense........Take an educated person like Todd Buck who has made his living off the Kaibab area with a tax supported job..........he hadnt even counted the actual live deer on the Kaibab..........I cannot sit back and give him a break because he has a degree, its just plain wrong management to not have a handle on what is going on in Todd's backyard...........as for strip projects.........there is one right now scheduled for next week.............get on the www.azdeer.org website and see what they need........I wont be there chris but alot of sportsmen will and it will be good for you to jump in........you have the fire now use it for a good purpose......As for what time I spend on wildlife.......just ask Amanda or wetmule or Muskrat or Bullwidgeon or Lark........I know I am spending alot of time that may or may not help me personally (I have never drawn an elk or muley tag in AZ for the 8 years I have lived here.) But if I dont yell and holler now, my kids Travis and Max will never have the opportunity........Lifetime memberships to ADA are great, but anyone can give money, time is what is so precious........ADA can get 1000.00 from anyone but your time will do more.........ADA board members are burnt out........I am burnt out.........new blood is needed but nobody steps forward.......we now have Sportsmen For Wildlife stepping in and I fear the whole state is going towards Landowner tags and big money........our opportunities keep drying up while we bicker............CHD, right now I have been involved in an email/letter writing campaign that would have been idealy suited for you, the senate bill 339 supporting states rights.........did you jump in and if not, maybe you could be the point man for issues like this.........it appears that this bill has passed through and working its way to George Bush's desk.........this will nulify the USO ruling and will be good for all of us.........we all need to be more informed and do our part where our personal strengths are best suited..........I dont know what my strengths are but I will try and keep speaking up for wildlife and do my part where I feel I can best help I dont want anymore peter measuring contest, just SOMEONE GET UP AND HELP, DONATE YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS TO A CAUSE WE ALL FEEL PASSIONATELY ABOUT......thanks.......Allen.......................

A big hearty congratulations to you and your wife............AT..........

Lee, I am only passing on info I receive from Arizona Deer Association or other groups that contact me. I really resent CHD coming on here like he is totally savvy on the strip and Kaibab when I havent seen his name come up under conservation nor spoke about by friends of mine who hunt these units year after year......I also resent his statement about the pictures on Josh's website........If Chris Darnell is so educated and worldly, he of all people should know that pictures are only so good.......satisfied customers are substantially better than pictures........example, two years ago I guided a client in Mexico (see muley crazy sonoran issue, client: Ben Ducek....) to a 195" muley buck......two weeks after the kill and before our article was wrote, someone called me to let me know the picture of the buck was on an Oregon outfitters website........I personally called the outfitter and had him remove the picture from his webpage.......he knew what he was doing and admitted it.........whats up Chris, would you have been impressed with guys web site????????............ease up, dont convince everyone else you are good by your mouth.......let your actions speak........as for the strip and Kaibab, there is an email right asking for volunteers to go up to the Kaibab and meet with AZGFD to look into future stuff we should do TOGETHER as sportsmen and Game management.........CHD needs to get up there and espouse his wisdom, or he could call Don Martin, Mohave sportsmen club and volunteer for the 13b water tank project that needs help.........basically Wetmule and Antlerboy are trying to mention to everyone that we need to get involved and get more informed about the sport that evokes so much emotion right now........focus your emotions into productive stuff not slamming others.........thanks for letting me vent............Allen Taylor.........
