Tons of hail and rain in East Flag this afternoon, here's a link to some pictures on Flag Scanner. http://flagscanner.com/stunning-storm-aftermath-photos-from-flagscanner-viewers/ Hail washed down onto Route 66 and ADot had to bring in loaders to clear the roadway of 2 feet deep hail. Here is a picture of a motorcycle stuck in the hail.

8:30 PM update from AZ Daily Sun The heavy rains have ended in east Flagstaff, but not before flooding some homes below Mount Elden and roads as far away as Soliere Avenue. The National Weather Service reported that 2 inches of rain and quater-inch hail fell in east Flagstaff shortly after 4 p.m. Emergency responders reported flooding on Fanning Drive as far south as East Route 66 and along Elder Drive. City firefighters reported to dispatchers that at least 22 structures suffered some degree of flooding and at least three families consisting of 11 people would be displaced for at least the night because of flooding. In addition, the Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the Doney Park and Timberline area, where heavy rain had fallen. West Flagstaff has remained dry.

Just talked to friends that live in the area that was hardest hit their garden was under 6 to 8 inches of hail and their trees look like late fall after the leaves have fallen off.

Coconino, Kiabab and Coconino County as well here is the press release from the county. Coconino County to Lift Fire Restrictions Tuesday FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Coconino County, in conjunction with the Coconino and Kaibab National Forests, will lift its fire restrictions at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 8. Ample monsoonal rainfall throughout Northern Arizona over the weekend has brought much needed moisture to tinder-dry forests and area landscapes. The change in weather conditions prompted the County and U.S. Forest Service to end fire restrictions throughout the region. Although much of the region received saturating rain, several areas may have received much less rainfall and fire conditions may still be high in some locations. Residents and visitors are asked to continue to use caution when using equipment or items that can spark a fire. They are also advised to thoroughly extinguish all campfires, operate ATVs and motorcycles with spark arrestors and to use caution when utilizing barbeque grills.

Please step up and support the Sportsmens Act of 2014 S 2363. This act has several parts that I think are critical to us as hunters and recreastionists. Here is a link to a fact sheet prepared by the National Shooting Sports Foundation http://nssf.org/factsheets/PDF/bipartisanSportsmensAct.pdf Contact our Senators and let them know you support the Act, I have included quick links to our Arizona Senators here http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?State=AZ You can also use this link if you live in another state by choosing your state in the drop down box.

I often use sticks and branches blinds and look at them as definitely available on a first come first served basis. I also use my own pop up and often set it inside an old natural blind. I feel that others pop ups are off limits and regardless of the type it is always first come first served even if my blind is set up but somebody beats me into the spot. I've never found anybody in my blind but hope I could keep my cool (since it would be ultra dark thirty I would have to survive the shock of opening the door and finding someone inside) and walk away.

Quick Reminder FIRE RSTRICTIONS are still in affect in most Nat Forests and Coconino County. Hopefully it won't be long before we can have campfires again.

Scattered showers in unit 8 hit a couple of big downpours. Then a gully washer near Walnut Canyon east of Flag. Still spotty but monsoons are here for sure.
-
Scatterd showers around Flag with a nice rain on the Peaks. Lots of lightning and a few fires which were all quickly contained by firefighters.

The wind does "occasionally" blow in Flagstaff and I do get a lot of "wind " pics. I think I will give the electric tape a shot maybe use camo tape which I have laying around.

Keep the faith, you know how these fires generaly leave some green islands and as open as this spot is the fire may have missed or at least dropped to the ground. Probably be awhile before they open the area but you might find the camera survived. Thanks for sharing the great pic's.

One of my big hopes is to spot a Gila Monster in the wild. Born and raised in Flagstaff (60+) and even though I wander all over the state I have never seen one in the wild. That one is a grand daddy for sure. Thanks for posting.

Quite possibly the Oak fire which they have neen monitoring and not attempting to put out. Monitoring involves an assigned crew keeping tabs on the fire to insure no structures are threatened. Here's a link to this fire http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/3901/# All Arizona fires http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/state/3/#

Received an email from AZSFWC which you may or may not know of. Here is a link to the information which once again shows the bias of our "State" daily newspaper. http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?ca=26c78400-dc5b-413f-98e2-dcce075e84ff&c=db733fd0-36e9-11e3-b170-d4ae5275b1a5&ch=dc47cde0-36e9-11e3-b23d-d4ae5275b1a5 Stay committed and spread the word. I don't care to see a wolf in NAZ.

i do some, DU lately. im kinda broke right now due to $200 in application fees alone this year. but why dont we stay on track. you dont think that AZGFD should be in charge of organizing that sort of thing? The Arizona Elk Society (AES) and Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society both put boots on the ground in the water catchment projects on a regular basis. Many of the other groups also provide funding and manpower but in my observations these 2 work year in and year out to provide water for all the animals that utilize catchments. AZG&F does participate and their developement crew also haul water and build and maintain catchments. BUT they are a small crew and can use any help we as sportsmen and women can provide. Most of the water hauling by AES and others is done in conjunction with and cooperation of the G&F. The unit game managers provide the information of what or where the greatest needs are.
