Cleaning a Muzzleloader
Rudebob replied to XoftCoffee's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I have nothing to say on the subject, just glad to see a new post in this forum after several months. Of course ranting about the cost of Blackhorn 209 is always good for a coversation starter. -
Everything is still closed except a couple roads near the rez.

Why is Pleasant not full yet? With all the rain and snow melt you would of thought it would of hit the 1702 weeks ago. Yet the water level has been essentially the same for weeks. The MWD has to be dumping water.

Mine just changed too. Probably just the update process. I would not worry about it,.....yet.

I ended up with a couple extra 8 ounce bottles of BH209 I picked up for a friend. However, he had already bought some from midway when it was in stock. I traded 1 for some primers and aleady have enough for my own personal use. I have a little over $57.00 in it with tax. I would be happy to sell it for my cost to a CWT ML hunter if you need it. Sorry, no shipping. I live in far northwest Peoria or work near I17 & the 101. Send me a PM if interested.

Yes if you need it. I am not trying to get rid of it neccesarily but just seeing if anyone is in need of it for the upcoming season since it is still hard to find.

Will trade 1 new, unopened 8 ounce bottle of Blackhorn for a half brick (500) of 209 primers. Must be CCI 209M or Federal 209A. If you need more powder I would be willing to sell one additional bottle go for $60.00 with the primer trade. Not looking to sell the powder outright, just need primers. Sorry, I don't want to ship. I work near I7 & Loop 101 or live in the far northwest valley.

School Me on Blackhorn Powder? Is it worth it?
Rudebob replied to Heat's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I picked up a few bottles of BH209 in Flagstaff this week but the price was $52.00 for 8 ounces, not $36.00 like they show on Brickseek. 20% less product for 40% more dollars than last year. I hope i don't get monkeypox. -
Its Time To Change the Arizona Bonus Point System
Rudebob replied to geoffsl's topic in The Campfire
Really, a petition on change.org? How can you expect anyone to take you seriously? -
Great shape. Used for 1 hunt. Has 20" fat tire wheels and suspension. Adjustable platform to ride flat or at an angle (or use as a pushcart). Retails for $359.00 from QuietKat. Will sale for $150.00. In NW Peoria. I am also open to interesting trades.

Looking to trade 1 fresh and unopened 10oz bottle of Blackhorn for CCI 209M or Federal 209A primers. I am not looking to sell the powder although I will trade smaller quantity of primers plus cash if that is the only deal out there. Live in far NW Peoria but work close to I17 & Loop 101. I am also in Flagstaff weekly. Thx 'bob

Thanks for the info. I do plan to weigh my charges (I work at a lab and have access to calibrated balances that are accurate to 1/10,000 of a gram). The teflon tape is a new one though that I will look into. So you don't use an anti-seize grease? As far as the basics I have done a ton of research so I feel like I have most of the process covered. It is mainly trying to find which loads will work best in my gun. I guess I won't know until I try different variables. I was hoping for some feedback as to where to start with using the 285 grain ELR's. Unfortunately, there is not as much data on the .45 vs. 50. It seems like lot of folks bash PB's but I suspect the ELR is a little different that some of their other bullets, at least I hope so because I have a bunch of them.

I am new to this whole ML sport but just recently got a CVA Accura LR in .45 cal. I have the PB ELR's and Blackhorn, and as soon as I can locate some primers i plan to start developing some loads. Any suggestions as to where to start would be appreciated.

I was thinking about 500 would seem fair. I paid $50.00 + tax (yeah Cabela's is a rip). That translates to $100.00 for a brick of primers which seems to be the current resale rate at the moment (if/when you can find them). I might take 400 if I get desperate or cannot find them retail. I am not at that point, it is just that I have more powder than primers and want to start developing loads in a few weeks for a new muzzy acquisition. Just saw someone post that Cabela's may have BH so maybe there is less value in my offer but I am thinking in a few days/weeks there will be another shortage.

Still have the 209's?
