As they would say in Norway....Uff Da!!!
-
I have been semi damp and bumped into 110/v and it hurt way, way worse than just the regular little jolt! Not one to assume, I am assuming like the sheep these critters were wet and that makes a huge difference in how that all ends up. Norway is a beautiful country and wayyyyyyyyyyyyy environmentally minded.....wonder what they will do to protect the caribou from lightning

That is a crazy story as is the story of the sheep in Utah.......dang!!!

White Mountains have it all.......and you can't beat the rural access to game and getting outdoors!!! Here in Snowflake we don't get as much snow, sun usually melts it off by noon, some rare occasions it will stick around for a couple of days. There are sometimes some stretches where the temps are freezing.....great place for kids to grow up!!! But not one of these small towns up here can claim the 450000 population, there isn't a shopping mall but Sportsmans is a new addition to the mountain. -
I thought that face looked familiar......what to make the headlines!!!

I posted earlier this summer the "plague" of beetles laying around town and then all the sudden.....they started showing up BIGGER!!! Pretty buff looking dudes............ I get a kick out of some of the things nature throws out there, I have seen some of these guys in the past but this summer.......they are out in numbers!!!
-
let em be. They're out there 365, we're out there a fraction of that. They serve a purpose, we're trespassing... not the other way around. JMHO If I am in the boonies I will let them pass as they let me pass.....but on my property they are gone......

I like "that dude"! I've been called a helluva lot worse! Scales between the eyes is the best, 100% way to know the difference, especially since tail patterns don't always line up like the books say they should. That doesn't look like a diamondback or a mojave (with a "j"). That looks like a viridis (Crotalus nuntius; Hopi rattlesnake) from the NE part of the state, like Arizona Griz suggests. Snowflake.....so eastern part of the stae, white mountains in the cedars ......interesting information, thanks....
-
Compared to this one.....you have to zoom in on the tail but clearly very different??? Again, I didn't look at the scales between the eyes!!!

#4 takes it.....great pictures..............

Been going out early morning late evening, midnights all hours of the day for 20 years to tend animals. Had a barn owl in my coop one night I have chased coyotes away from my coop multiple times. Last night was a first with this greeter! He will NOT be returning!!!

Nice new avatar......great job!!! -
Could be a prairie with those markings which is why I commented about the tail but they are up north. Either way I wouldn't want to get hit by one. Its either a diamondback or a Mojave. Prairies have only been documented near Springerville in AZ. They are thought to be in grasslands in far SE AZ, near the AZ/NM state line, but have never been documented there. Mojaves were my research specimen/project in grad school and you can't always go by the tail markings or color scheme. I've seen plenty of Mohaves that looked just like a diamondback and plenty of diamondbacks that looked like Mojave's. The only way to be 100% on the identification is to look for two large scales touching between the eyes (Mojave) or nine small scales (diamondback), but I don't know too many people willing to get that close! ☺ My first thought was Mojave, though. I would have never known that about the scales.....but I would never have been willing to get that close..........interesting information thanks....

The pictures are not the greatest but you will get the idea. We went down for a second try at seeing sheep and we weren't disappointed! The one picture with the boat inbetween us and the sheep. I just have a little 14' and we were anchored off across the lake from where the sheep were, trying to just watch and take pictures and such. This boat goes flying by.....realizes what was up there running around and proceeded to turn around pull right up to where the sheep were! They are lucky my wife didn't have an arrow to fling at them...she was pissed. https://youtu.be/oTvi4oI-7h8 One of the rams was chasing the heal out of just one ewe and would not leave her alone, I kept trying to explain to my wife but.................... Sorry about the wind noise on the next clip!!! https://youtu.be/NR05wYSKUQE https://youtu.be/zt2kyyQOnh4 End of the day we finally spotted some sheep on the opposite side if the lake just as the sun was working its way down!!! Really fun trip, just somebody remind me next time.....don't go on the weekend, holy hanna that lake was rocking!!!
