Would you hunt alone?
Non-Typical Solutions replied to krash73's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Don't get me wrong.....I love getting out there all alone, my success rate goes way up there in comparison to when I have a 10 year old or 17 year old I am trying to help, I am horrible when it comes to trying to help my kids. Recently my kids have had more success when I dump them out so they can be on their own. Course.....not my 10 year old....but my teenager has come to appreciate being "out hunting on his own"......and the pleasures that can bring. Solitude, reflection time and that holy hannah there is the animal I am actually hunting.........man I love being out in the woods. -
Would you hunt alone?
Non-Typical Solutions replied to krash73's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
For me there is hunting alone and then hunting really alone. I love having camp with family and friends with all having plans of different directions and we split off alone. I enjoy the evenings and being there to help each other. But......there is alot to be said for the gratification of going out there.....alone......and gettin er done. One of my favorite things though is getting me and my wife stuck on a ridge having her royally pissed at me......and then all the sudden jumping a buck and watching her have a blast trying to knock it down......hunting is just one of those fun things that is about alot more than just the kill....... -
I have 4 boys....each one of them different so what worked for one didn't work for another. They all four got swats somewhere along the way. Even though I wanted all of them to hunt.....they don't all hunt. Even though I wanted them all to enjoy sports in school....they didn't. I grew up playing basketball and I wanted basketball players.....they wrestled. And the thing about when you take them fishing......and leaving your gear behind......great advice there. Don't ever take them for granted cause one day they are gone doing their own thing. Congratulations on the expectant girl and best of luck to you and your family.

I wanted to share one of my religious crafts that I have been giving to family and friends. I am not sure what other churches use consecrated oil for blessing of the sick but in the LDS church it is common practice. I took antler tips and epoxied the oil vial inside. It is a fun gift and pretty easy to put together, I think they look pretty cool.

We don't even spend that much on educating our own kids......no common sense in the program. If they had the real deal, turned them loose and let the thrive on their own without all the hoopla........maybe a person could swallow it, but not with a fake dog and pony show to close roads and squelch hunting. No pun intended with the fake dog..... -
So is that a 30" spread??? I by no means can judge deer or elk or anything else.....just wondering. Heck of a buck.....

LOL - I can hear it now. "holy moly... I can do this. Where did I put week one? Ok, there it is. We're good. Moving forward." I know what you're talking about and that's a truckload of willpower. Good on ya. Oh you should have seen the look on my wifes face......she is like really Jeff......honey maybe you better try some elevator music....

So I got a lot of help from CWT members getting pictures for my video and I want up front to thank them for sending me hunting photos. I tried really hard to use every photo that was sent in, some I had a hard time with format. This video is just a tribute to the great animals that we get to hunt and those who spend time out there trying to out smart the wily critters. My love for the outdoors and the freedoms we enjoy getting to hunt, fish and getting away from the asphalt of life along with a song that I really like come together for some breathtaking shots of the animals we love to watch and pursue. I tried really hard to record the words but I stink at singing so I put the words with the music and you will just have to sing along. Thanks again to all contributors, if Chesney decides to record it I will have to share royalties:rolleyes:

I am not a big Darwin fan but here is a pretty good quote of his: "It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change." -

I have sworn myself to staying down this time once I get there, I am trying to get to 140, even with my bad eating I lost 7 pounds last month. I signed up with myfitnesspal yesterday and plan on doing a better job of eating under the calorie count. Gotta tell Dr. Pepper goodbye except for extreme cases like if I knock down a big buck this December I am breaking out a full sized Dr. to celebrate!! One thing different this time around is I am exercising instead of just watching what I eat. Hopefully I will lose the weight and be in better shape than I was last time.

Speaking of clothes. I put on my XL workout shorts and shirt today and they fit like bags. What a difference the blubber loss makes. I had to laugh at myself. How did I EVER get there!?!? LOL I ask myself that question all the time....I lost 30 pounds 2 years ago and put it all back on in less than a year.......I blame it on organic donuts and chocolate chip cookies.

I remember back in the crazy kid days down in southern New Mexico we would go out after big storms like this just looking for big rattlers they would be cold and very passive initially. Back when we knew everything........ -
Monday check in on Tuesday. I got suckered into Amazing Jakes with the grandkids on Saturday and well......I was able to maintain weight through it all but did not lose any so I guess it is a push for the week. Started week 6 of Insanity on Monday so I am hanging in there, not breaking any records but hanging in there. Grandkids......they are the best.....

My entire 2.5 acres was a lake when I left my house at 5:00AM this morning to have my wife drop me off. And rivers were flowing down my street about 8" deep. Good thing I have a big truck. My wife left her Camaro at home today and took my truck. Country girl can survive........too bad they don't have a big reservoir for catching all that water....maybe they do.....lots of asphalt with now where for it to go especially when you build it in the middle of a big wash.....hope you'all are safe down there.

We were off over south of Blue Vista last weekend and I thought about your great photography as we could see the vast sea of purple flowers on a particular hill side....you could have done them justice. Great photos as always.....great looking bull too.

Question of Ethics
Non-Typical Solutions replied to Whitetailcurse's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
It is just an option not an ethics....both are a blast to get out there and get er done.....wastin time here at the computer worrying about it...... Anybody still run an old Johnny Stewart cassette tape with the speaker on a long cord......man I thought those were the days and was I ever wrong..... -
