I use a reamer build for scope rings. Works a lot faster. Every time I have ran the reamer I usually get some of the sharp edges of the rings off. Other than that 100 % contact is what you are looking for. Lapping works perfectly fine just takes a little longer than the reamer. Oh and the reamers are VERY expensive. I have 1 30mm reamer and 1 35mm reamer from Manson Reamers.

What powder for .308 win?
willhunt4coues replied to DesertBull's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Varget is not hard to find. I see it pop up on gunbot.net/reloading/powder at least once a week. I like the Varget because it is not sensitive to temperature. -
I was just giving you a hard time, not trying to be rude...was it the late archery tags?!? Early bull archery
-
5 were from when I was young (under 23). The last 2 were archery and those were my biggest at 292" and 280"

I have harvested 7 bulls since I was 10 and not a single one has been 300" YET. Elk are VERY delicious and would rather have meat then antlers. I have harvested 6x6s and 5x5s and have thought each one was a trophy in its own way. Its hard not to shoot when the opportunity arises and it is a good bull.

Thats why I like the Creedmoor. I am running 41.4 and 41.8 gn of H4350, 140 gn Berger and getting 2800 fps (fast enough for me) and a lot cheaper for reloading. I love the faster guns but I would be changing barrels every 6 months as much as I shoot.

Whatcha building?
-
If you only use it as a hunting rig it can last forever but knowing that you will want to practice it would not last. I have put around 400 rounds through each of my builds in about 3 months so this gun would only last me 6 or 7 months and it would be gone...LOL. Only the precision part would be gone. If it shoots 1/4 moa at first it may go to 3/4 moa after 800 rounds. If you reload you could slow them down some and make it last 1500 rounds by dropping her 200 to 300 fps.

alaskin guide vino pack BRAND NEW
willhunt4coues replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Classified Ads
I do not believe the 12 swaros will work. Your best bet would be to buy the 15 size. I know that will work. -
I have an alaskin bino pack 10x40 model that brand new. Will sell it for 50.00 firm + 5.00 for shipping.

IMO a product selling point should never be about the warranty. The best warranty is the one you never have to use. Vortex is all about their warranty to me that tells me you will have problems.

I too have had the PST line and was not to happy to find out I had lens loose, parralax issues, and tracking issues. I have since changed to all Sightron SIII products and can tell you the SIII line has over 100 moa of adjustment, clarity is to die for, and perfect tracking while maintaining lightweight design and affordable VERY AFFORDABLE. Check them out you will NOT be disappointed. I actually sold both of my 2000.00 Valdada scopes so I could buy these Sightron SIII 6-24x50 FFP/LRMOA

I could not even shoulder the rifle it was so small (my sons 22 chipmunk ). I figured I would call in a fox since we were in the pinals. We were scouting for deer and I just decided to call and in less than 5 minutes and only 5 yards from the jeep she came in with my predator quest hand call. My son was asleep maybe now he won't sleep. He always does this to me and I feel bad when I get to harvest something so beautiful when he could have.

That stove works great. Glad you sold it all fast.

OPENING MORNING NIGHTMARE
willhunt4coues replied to ProSlayer's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I make sure I always load everything up in the morning. I live in Globe and just when you think it is okay to leave everything in your vehicle is when it happens. I will keep my ears open for any deals in the area. You also might wanna call Desert Eagle guns and tell Borris about the gun. They may try and sell it. -

KYB vs. Bilstein vs. Rancho
willhunt4coues replied to My Rights As An American's topic in The Campfire
I love shopping at Rockauto.com they have the best pricing I can find on the net. Just an FYI. I was too looking for shocks and know I am not as hard on them as the rock crawlers but I have had the Rancho 5000 and after 1 year blew them out. -
even when you have a temperature stable powder and the temperature changes so does your speed. In cold weather your chamber will be effected making for slower FPS shots. Just the opposite in hotter weather your speeds will be faster. I get roughly about 20 fps difference just in temperature and that is not my powder. Guns are very fun to play with but you need to test all conditions out. If the wind is howling 20+ mph get out and shoot so you know what happens to your ballistics then. Long range can be very rewarding but I can tell you it never gets any cheaper. I just bought a Sartorius analytical scale and oh my talk about being precise...LOL

Remingon 700 5r stock
willhunt4coues replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Some of the older guns had the HS Precision stock and some of the newer also. Bell & Carlson is making stocks for Remington now. If you know your exact model that would help if not call Remington. -
