You are correct Sneaker. Think about it you get bears coming into your salt so as long as you do not shoot them you are fine. You can bait anything but harvesting over the correct bait or no bait is the key.

You could replace the bolt body and bolt head with the PTG Body & Head. The only difference is the body is closer to spec with your raceway and the head it a tempered steel. With most factory heads on the savage they begin to pit around the flash hole the PTG one will not pit and is tighter on spec. If you do change these out you will have to headspace again which will take any gunsmith minutes to do. Just something else you could do. You could also replace the barrel with a Shilen, Criterion and make it more precise and accurate.

Have you guys ever heard of the 6.5 Prometheus? Over at Longrangehunting. That would be a round I would like to try.

I have noticed when water is applied deer/elk will hit it within 24 hours ( at least my mixture they do ). Especially when it rains. I believe it gives out a scent when water is applied, it works great if you are planning on hunting the spot to take extra water and pour on the spot when you hunt it. Will help lure them in.

I have the Triclawps set up on a heavy 14lbs gun shooting off a Manfrotto 701 HDV and Promaster 429 tripod. I practice out to 800 yards sitting with this set up so yes it can and will work fine. Of course if you have a heavy gun you need heavy tripods and heads but if you have a light gun then the Jim White should work. You can always try it. If you are up in the Globe Miami area anytime get with me and you can try the clawps on your head and pod.
