Paying for a San Carlos Tag
willhunt4coues replied to Seldom Drawn's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I know everytime I head to the rez to go predator hunting I see critters EVERYWHERE I look compared to state land. There may not be many 110+ bucks but I bet on average you are seeing 10+ bucks a day. I have been really thinking about buying a tag on the rez or heading to Mexico. Sounds like a lot of fun. -
Dog Down 6.5 Creedmoor
willhunt4coues replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Ya he has been tagging along everytime I go out now. If he does not go with me he gets all mad at me for not taking him... The quest continues for his first dog, fox, or bobcat. Heck I haven't even shot a cat yet...oh well the things we do for our kids.. -
Well I finally got to shoot my first critter with my new Savage 10 6.5 Creedmoor. If it was not for my son I probably could have not shot him. If the dog would have stood there longer my boy could have smoked him. We have been on a quest to get him his first fox, bobcat, or coyote and this one surprised us and ran out in front of the Jeep. Had to grab the gun and get off the road I then lost the dog and we waited for him to run up the other hillside just then my boy says dad he right there so I swung over quick and got a round into him just as he started to walk away. The Berger 140 VLD bullet did a number on this dog hence the frontal picture.

Dog Down 6.5 Creedmoor
willhunt4coues replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Ya .225 group at 100 yards and .748 group at 300 yards. Berger VLD 140 with hornady brass. H4350 42.4 grains, CCI-BR2 primers. Seated at 2.195 was what worked for me. I take the time to ream the primer pocket and debur the flash hole and then separate all my brass by lot and weight. Bullets are separated by base to ogive and weight. If you take the time to do all this you will have a very low extreme spread and standard deviation. I am getting 2760 fps. -
This is my boys 2nd find (thanks to AZP&Y) boy was he ecstatic

I have the 6.5 Creedmoor for one reason BARREL LIFE. I saw the 26 and thought man I am glad I have the CM.. But like others have said barrel life wont effect the 100 round a year guy thats only hunting
-
Nope he is just spoiled rotten. He would rather have camo than toys and he would rather have real guns than toys but don't get me wrong he runs around the house in a ninja outfit (just like I did when I was young) and is killing ZOMBIES left and right. He has about 10 guns, grenades, and 5 knives on while he is doing this and my daughter is in tow doing the same thing. TOO COOL. Got to love kids.

I took a buddy out for his coues hunt back in 2009 (Justin) he had a 20 dollar pair of binos but he was the one that saw the buck before I did. So yes binos are binos just depends how you use them and how lucky you are but I don't look down on anyone that has different binos. I personally can not stand the headaches. My dad has a pair of Nikon monarch 12 and can find anything I can. He does start to complain about getting a headache twards the end of the day though. Thats why I want another pair so then he can borrow them and when my boy is old enough he can have them. I didn't start using swaro till 2009 but I did have the Zeiss conquest befor then and what I don't understand is why everyone wants Vortex rather than having Zeiss both are the same price and the Zeiss are VERY CLEAR edge to edge. Anyways good luck to everyone in the upcoming draw. I put in for my first EARLY RIFLE elk tag this year only one can wish his dreams come true...

OH MAN get ready I have a 16 year old that is a girl and she is a handful... CONGRATS....You guys are going to have so much fun!!
-
Hopefully they won't find anything and there will be no tags this year for 24a trust me it really needs it.
-
Thats what I am waiting on. I could get the new HD at cost but with very little difference in light only I thought I would wait till everyone has their old models up for sale and buy me another pair. WDENIKE: Talk about apples to oranges is like talking about swaro vs vortex. BOTH have superior warranties but clarity is bad on the vortex HD Kiababs compared to swaros. I borrowed the Kiabab HD for 2 weeks to see what all the hype is and man I had headaches every time I looked through them and when someone says they are just as good as swaros I laugh because there is no clarity on the vortex like swaro.. Don't get me wrong I like SOME Vortex SCOPES but thats only 1 or 2.

Powder Sold Pending Funds

I just bought some H4350 for 156.00 with shipping and hazmat it was 187.00 OTD. Check this place out. I have been seeing Varget, H4895, H4350, ALL the IMR powders, and even the 210 fed primers you will love this site. It is updated as soon as something comesin. The site watches some vendors that carry powder and when it pops up (varget H4350) you have about 20 minutes to order or all are gone. http://www.gunbot.net/reloading/Powder/

moved tag discussion to campfire for further debate and hate mail. :)
willhunt4coues replied to hoghntr's topic in Classified Ads
I have electrical tape for my tag as soon as I harvest the critter than I will wrap the tag around the leg or antler (like rolling up a dollar bill to a straw) and then I will put the tape around it. That away it will stay on the critter. The bag could easily get caught on a branch and get torn off. Just doing it how I have seen other states do it. No big deal if this is what they have then this is what they have. -

Would you sell the vortex 35mm level by itself? If so I would be interested. -

I bought the Krakatoa from Foxpro and talk about having NO DISTORTION. Plays crystal clear 24 bit sounds at low or high volume.

I bought some OLD motorola police radios with mics. I paid 100.00 for 2 radios 2 mics and 2 chargers. I can go to the top of the pinals and radio my dad at his house in Globe (about 7 miles). I never hear anyone else on the radio because they are the old CRYSTAL type ones. I had our local radio store look at them and they said I got a smokin deal. They are NOT light but I don't care.

I second that. MAN THEY HAVE EVERYTHING. I tell you if you can not find what you are looking for the odds are Healys has it.
