Applying for the upcoming javelina draw- any downside being under the old license regime?
willhunt4coues replied to AndrewJ's topic in Javelina
The way I see and have read is that if you buy a 2014 license now it will be valid from Januray 1st to dec 31 2014. Now to apply for the Javelina hunt next year 2015 you will use your current 2014 license and then on dec 31st when your license expires you just get a new license for 2015. This is how I read the validation points and rules. -

Actually you will still pay the old prices now for everything then as of January 1st the new prices kick in. So buy it now well heck you have too if you are putting in for Javelina, Turkey, or Bear -
Epperson's Africa Plains game Hunt with GreaterKuduLandSafaris

HECK ya LOVE IT. I have always wanted an Impala. Super jealous!!! Congrats and can't wait to see more pics!!! -
What you want to do is always start low on powder and work your way up. Load about 5 rounds of each different grain. You want the smallest group possible NOT the fastest velocity.

FOR Sale;;;; Swarovski SLC 15x56mm binoculars
willhunt4coues replied to bild's topic in Classified Ads
its not just used ones. Dealers go on there to sell brand new ones too.. I know this I was just saying to MAKE SURE they are an authorized dealer before buying NEW ONES!!! -
That is almost exactly how my hunt was in 2008. Bulls raking trees makes for an easy dash to get into position as long as you position a tree between you guys. CONGRATS on a GREAT looking bull. Your dad would be proud.
-
I have bumped bulls out of their beds and they have came back time after time. Maybe its just the area. Who knows. All i can say is if you have a tag don't stop hunting I keep hunting till I get a bull down. Congrats and good luck to all you lucky hunters out there. This seems to be the year for tags.

FOR Sale;;;; Swarovski SLC 15x56mm binoculars
willhunt4coues replied to bild's topic in Classified Ads
Also if you buy the binos on ebay and they are not an authorized Swaro dealer your warranty will be nothing. You might as well be throwing the money away. That what it states in the warranty area. If you buy second hand you will still need to get the original receipt IF THE WARRANTY card has not been filled out. If the guy has already sent it in then call to make sure it is registered and make a receipt of the sale from person to person. I did and this is what saved my butt. -
Got to love the smell and feel of the tall pines and light breeze when elk hunting. Congrats again Nate!!!

The pair of Kiababs I had were BRAND new. My buddy never has even taken them out. I have looked through numerous Kiababs before and saw the same thing as I saw through my buddies. I was commenting on being behind them not for a day but for weeks. I did have the caps off bonecollector LOL. But like you said opticnerd your eyes feel tired which is how mine was but when my eyes get tired I get dizzy. But anyway your buddies that have the Kiababs and Nikons that is the best GLASS they have and thats why to them they are use to it and think the clarity is by far the best. I felt the same way with the Zeiss 12x45 I love them to death and upgraded to the swaro. Now to compare them side by side I would say the only difference is field of veiw, The clarity in low light and depth of field is by far the best. To be able to see depth of field is by far the best thing in a pair of bino. For everything to look FLAT as a pancake man you will and do miss stuff left and right.

I just don't understand how prople can compare the 15x swaro to the Kiababs. I had my Swaros sent in for repairs (for free) and borrowed a pair of Kiababs. First off I could not seem to get them crisp and clear (I have 20/20 vision) I tried everything but found out that is how they are. They are SOMEWHAT clear in the center but the entire outside view is nothing but BLURRY. I have been through EVERY pair of binos you can get your hands on and by far Swaro is NUMBER 1 but if you can not afford swaros Zeiss would have to be the next in line for affordability. They are 15 times clearer than Vortex. Don't get me wrong I LOVE VORTEX scopes but not their binos. Sit behind some Kiababs for HOURS and your head will hurt and it feels as if you are dizzy when you back away from them. Do like someone else said and rent the swaros for 1 day then the next day rent the Kiababs you will see what all the hype is about swaro in 1 second. Oh and to top it off I had the Kiababs for 3 weeks and anyone that knows me I can find deer on any hill side but for some reason the enntire time I had the Kiababs I never could find one deer or anything for that matter.

Okay I know that Leica has a 1000-R model and a CRF 1600-B model. I know that the 1600does ballistics. I have a Nikon riflehunter 1000 that has INCLINE AND DECLINE (ANGLE) so when I have the angle ON it will display the TRUE distance to the target not line of sight. Now for some reason all I can find on the 1600B is that it does all this hold over crap but does not SPECIFY if it actually has incline/decline feature. So to all you out there that have the Leicas I want it simple to just press a button an it tells me TRUE distance not line of sight can the Leica do that? I can range out to 860 yards with mine (which is WAY far enough shot and would never think of taking that shot) but I love to practice and love shooting angles. To have to pull out my phone to input all this crap is nonsense. If Nikon can make this simple then why all the nonsense on the Leica 1600? Why not have just the angle button. All I want is a rangefinder that can hit pretty much anything I range (1500+) and tell me TRUE distance. Can anyone tell me where to find that model or brand?

Does it have the incline/decline?

I bought a Panasonic AGAC90 and LOVE it to death. Best spotting scope I have ever bought

I had Valdada steel on my Valdada scope and changed to Aluminum for help in weight and to not damage the scope. Personally if you can get aluminum go with them because your scope is aluminum. Also if you are going LONG RANGE don't cheap out buy GOOD rings. The Valdadas are inexpensive and to spec just like US optics and Nightforce. One of those 3 brands is what I would recommend.

Saw one great bear Sunday morning and by the time i got into range (700 yards) I was able to get my scope up and see him top over the hill. I still needed to dial in the scope but man it was a close one another minute and I would have had a shot. Have only heard of 1 bear taken in 24a and I believe it was a boar.

Broke a screw in barrel installing scope base! NEED HELP
willhunt4coues replied to birddogg21's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
go to a welding supply store and get some Liquid Nitrogen. You will have to drop SMALL drops onto the screw but it should work. I did this on some screws that broke off on my rings. Have no idea why the screws broke (only torqued them to 12 in lbs) and they broke about 6 months later. I did get them used. -
Hunting is my passion. I am married and have 3 kids. Do not have a house payment do not have car payments. Just groceries and small bills. My wife and I get paid every 2 weeks one week she gets hers and the next I get mine. We allow ourselves 250.00 out of every pay check for each of us. Thats 500.00 total every week in one month I have 1000.00. Now what I do with my money is up to me I can save it or go spend it. I started out saving and after I had 2000.00 then I started spending keeping that 2000.00 for EMERGENCIES. No credit cards I do not believe in them. If I can not pay for something in cash I do not buy it. Now when I buy something I am only wanting to purchase it one time in my lifetime. Like Swaros, Scopes, some guns, ect. I do spend more than I should on some stuff but I know in the long run it will save me money. My wife allows me to be out anytime I like and me to her. I never question if she wants to head to the valley and take the kids to the movie I sometimes go but most times am out in the hills. Every weekend I am out Except for the summer the summer every weekend I am spending family time with them. I guess it all has to depend on how the wife sees it. That's why I married my wife is because I knew she did not mind if I wanted to be out every weekend. She does get mad every 7th or 8th weekend in a row.
