    Road Hunting

From what I take it as if you jump in your vehicle and drive on a road to get closer NO you are not breaking a law but if you drive OFF ROAD (no existing road or 2 trak) then yes you are.

    Road Hunting

Look on page 101 in the fall hunting regs this is what it states: TAKE/HUNT FROM A VEHICLE (ARS 17-301 B, R12-4-319) Pages 104 and 121 No person may take wildlife from a motor vehicle (including watercraft and aircraft, except as permitted by commission order, and under the provisions of the Challenged Hunter Access Mobility Permit Commision Rule (R12-4-217). "Take" as defined by law, includes persuing, Shooting, Hunting, and killing wildlife. You are unlawfully using a vihicle to take wildlife if you intentionally drive around untill you see the animal you wish to harvest and then make an attempt to "take". "Road hunting" is illegal: so is persuing wildlife with a vehicle, chasing or heading off moving wildlife with a vehicle, and driving off road to get closer to wildlife. You do not have to shoot from a vehicle to be in violation. Now from what this states is if I am going from a to b or just driving around ( face it do you really believe the warden is going to believe you were going from a to and I see an animal and jump out and shoot from the SIDE of the road then I am breaking the law. Now it says intentionally drive around untill you see the animal you wish to harvest and then make an attempt to "take". So does that mean I am driving from a to b and see a great buck and have my BOW and I make an attempt to take which I stalk the deer that means I am in violation. There is alot of loop holes to fill and face it we all can not be perfect. Heck I grew up driving around with my dad looking for game so does that make me an ILLEGAL ROAD HUNTER? Who knows only the game warden will make the call when it comes to it.

    Thanks ALOT! You JACKWAGONS!

From what I was told that if you are driving from point a to b or just driving around and while you are driving you see a deer (like this situation) and jump out and start shooting it is considered road hunting. Now to if that Game warden would have sited them who knows. I know not all game wardens are mean. Our game warden in this unit is a stand up guy. But he still might have sited them. Sorry to hear they look at you through their scopes I would have found a rock or tree and hid behind it till they were gone. You should always be aware of your target and BEYOND. There is NOTHING wrong with driving around till you see an animal and then you park and go AFTER him. But I know it has been said somewhere that if you are just driving at a slow rate of speed looking for game it COULD be considered road hunting. That was said in the regs. But like I have said it is up to each warden what he sees as road hunting.
  5. Well my wife did it, I was finally able to talk her into hunting the grey ghost of the desert the Coues deer and had put her in with my dad and I and we all got tags. Needless to say I did tag out in August with a spot and stalk Coues buck so I had all the time in the world for my wife and dad. Rick and his wife came up for 2 days but then had to take off. We seen anywhere from 1 to 3 bucks every day of the hunt but man they were always on the move and could not get set up in time or would pull the grey ghost and disappear. On Saturday we had spotted a great buck and Misty was able to get a shot off but with a bad shot (had to shoot through a catclaw) the bullet hit under the deer with him walking away shaking his head. On Wednesday Misty spotted a buck just in front of our glassing spot headed up the hill so I grabbed the binos and confirmed it was a great buck and set her up on the Triclawps setup ASAP. With the buck only 270 yards away and the Howa 308 in her grasp I knew she would get him but he was just cresting the hill and I was about to say you better hurry when she shot and the deer did the infamous donkey kick (as I call it). He went about 40 yards into the tree line so I showed her where he was at and she let out another shot. He ran a whole 10 yards up the hill and slid back down on his chest. Both shots had connected. My wife had just shot her first Coues Whitetail deer we named Black Ear because low and behold when we approached the deer he had a Black bullet hole through his ear (the dried blood was black). This was the same buck she had shot at on Saturday that's why he was shaking his head that day. Congrats babe, I could not be more proud of you. I hope this is not the only Coues you get I hope for many more hunts with you. You stayed calm and got the job done. Thanks Rick and Tes for coming up and being able to go for the days you did I wish you guys could have stayed longer and I know you wished it too. Me and my dad had spotted a BRUISER on Tuesday, tried to get him but never did and never saw him again. Thanks Cade for the awesome Tripod and Triclawps set up well worth all the money in the world. Congrats again babe.

    Depressing hunting story.

Have you thought about your practice elevation & temp compared to the Hunting elevation and temp? I know if I sight my gun in down in the valley in 110 degree weather then go on a hunt in dec with 60 degree temp and 3500 elevation it will be off.

    Ground blind

I have cameras out and blinds out too if they are stolen I know I did everything I could to keep them as safe as I could without having to park them at my house. Because face it you can't get pictures if your camera is in your bag at your house. I know if I leave them out in the hills with it all locked up then I have done my part. If someone steals it then I know I did everything Ii could do yes I will get upset but I have more and next time will have a back up watching the first. Sorry to hear it was stolen.

    Berger VLD exit wound!!!

Sundevil thats the same what I thought. Thats alot of meat wasted right there to me. A well placed shot behind the shoulder and a good bullet will do the job. I don't know about you but when I shoot an animal I want as little damage done to the meat as I can get. I shot a deer last year with the Winchester power max bonded and the bullet intered the deer but never left it which means all that energy in that bullet when it hit pushed the deer which in turn knocked him down. Thats what I want and when I cleaned the deer I found the bullet. My buddy shot a deer with my gun also within minutes of mine and both never had a exit and there was still blood everywhere. I my own opinion that bullet may be good on a bull but I think its too much on the deer. Don't get me wrong I think VLD are some of the BEST and ACCURATE ammo you can get just too much waste to me.

    Optics Help

Well with the cheaper line of binos your eyes will feel it TRUST me. Vortex are easy on the eyes. I have both swaro and vortex and of course the swaros are great but the vortex is good too. My eyes never tire and I dont get headaches anymore from staring through the swaros as they did with my nikon monarchs. If you are in the field all the time thoughout the year then the swaros or ziess or leicas, vortex are the way to go. Don't get the cheap Vortex though spend a little more heck you can still save big money with them just don't go with the lower line or you might as well get ready for the headache. I sold lots of photography equpt gaming equpt and other stuff just to get my swaros and I will NEVER sell them or trade them off because they are worth it. So go through ALL your stuff and see what you can do without. If you can do it then all the warrantied and everything are transferable so get them if you can.
