Calling on them is no fun in my opinion....getting right up to them is more fun. I have actually got out in front of them and had my eye on one and next thing I know one was 2 feet to my left needless to say I froze and he just grunted at me. I pulled back my bow and made the mistake of using my sites......I almost shot my foot. There is nothing like stalking up to them and getting them to chase you. I also have the call and have never used it never needed too.

Fingers are crossed and prayers have been sent.

They are always more active when the moon is out but I don't know about water depends on how much it has rained how much water is in the area and when the last time they watered. It is going to be hard to find this out because they get lots of water just from what they eat. Sorry I couldn't help you out any more. Good luck on your quest and welcome to the site.
