Opening day success updated/video
willhunt4coues replied to Allan's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
In the video this deer has the weirdest tail I have ever seen. It IS a Coues but man he is something special. -
I am one proud dad. Over the weekend my son passed H.E. I can not believe my little buddy will finally be able to get out and hunt next year. I have been waiting my whole life for him to go big game hunting and be able to shoot one himself. I get to take my daughter in 2 years. Congrats little man.

Because people have issues on everything. Look at the way everyone acts about a flag offending them. Some will hate, be jealous, ect. Congrats on a fine Coues deer. Great shot. -
Reloading guys.
willhunt4coues replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I use the 21st century hand primer. This works great if you ream all primer pockets to a consistent depth and then set the hand primer to the depth you want. Each click is .0025 increase. I seat all my primers to a .005 depth. I have tried testing different depths for primer seating and have found that getting a consistent depth really helps with your ES and SD. -

Which 6.5 for a short action?
willhunt4coues replied to rcdinaz's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
What do you mean there isn't GOOD quality brass for creedmoor? Nosler and Norma both make brass for creedmoor I have 300 pieces of both. I personally think Lapua brass is over rated. I compared some Lapua 308 with Nosler 308 and the Nosler had better neck thickness consistency, Nosler all weighed within 1.5 gns compared to lapua. The accuracy you get with the 30 degree shoulder on the 6.5 Creedmoor is why most competition shooters choose it over the .260. BUT the .260 is good I personally think after all the ups of the 6.5 cm thats what you should get. I read a few articles where they said the 6.5 Creedmoor is the .260 done right. -
I have an RCBS chargemaster 1500 that I dispense quick with then double weigh on my Sartorious Entris 323-1 for exact measurements. The Sartorious is a little over board but when you look into weighing you will see there are 2 different scale types Strain Guage which is most least expensive scales and then there is Magneticforce Restoration. Strain takes a minute to read Magneticforce is instant.

Yes you hitting Right is spin drift AND Coriolis. At 1000 yards the right drift with coriolis .3 with my gun. Everyone north of the equator the shot will always be right no matter which way you are facing due to coriolis. I love my BR2. I just did one group over the weekend at 1200 yards which was 4". All I used was my BR2 and shot north so my height would remain the same.

Can you cool a barrel quicker at range
willhunt4coues replied to apache12's topic in Long Range Shooting
I actually rigged up a battery powered air mattress pump and hose and attached it to a case and stuck it in my action for OCW testing believe it or not it works GREAT. Go get an portable air matress pump, some hose, and cut the head off a case. Works great and you can make it in minutes. -
This is where I order all my barrel from best guys and even better prices. The shipping is very well packed and protected. Ask him for an action wrench and barrel nut wrench. You will also need a barrel nut and recoil lug. If you don't want to buy the barrel nut wrench or action wrench to save you money you can always come up and use mine I have them.

I was going to suggest this. If you do decide to do this you will need a few tools. Let us know if this is the route you want to go and we will let you know what to get and where.

Do what Big Browns says. Take it to a smith and have him put a match barrel on it. You will shoot less than 1/4 moa then. Nothing I mean Nothing compares to a match barrel. Accuracy and cleaning are so much better on a match. I will never own another factory gun.

Only problem is they usually charge more than most. But I also heard they have great customer service. The FFP scope most are asking 850.00 to 950.00. I will try and find a place for the cheapest.

That I have no clue. There are probably some people that would not mind letting you look through theirs. If you come up to Globe heck I will let you shoot the gun.

Best way to find seating depth of the lands

I too suggest getting the Hornady Comparator and the Hornady OAL guage with modified case. This will be the easiest and very accurate, -

Bump for a great rifle and VERY accurate guns. Cooper firearms have some of the best pieces of work IMO. They are all ART. I will someday buy one.- 18 replies

Look at the Valdada rings they are 95.00 at midway and they are just as good as nightforce, us optics, seekins, ect. Thats all I use. Very tight tolerances.

New Custom Build Started
willhunt4coues replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I never did test either or twards the end of light. From what I could tell during the day time the Valdada SMOKES all for clarity, nightforce and sightron just really could not tell a difference but that was mid morning. We did use my sightron last year at first light and I could see the deer in the scope as easy as my swarovski binos and it was VERY early. Best I could tell you to do is come up sometime before daylight and bring one of your nightforce scopes and lets test. Like I have said the Valdada was probably the clearest and nicest scope I have ever looked though (comparing to nightforce, us optics, vortex, ect) and the best tracking. When I heard about sightron I thought there is no way this will be better than my 2000.00 valdada or even a nightforce but man was I wrong the clarity is not as good as valdada but I could not tell a difference in it and the nightforce. When I tested all of the scopes myself and seen the numbers the sightron won. So I sold sold sold all my top dollar scopes for the sightron and bout 2 for the price of 1 then with the other scope I sold I started my custom build. Oh ya and the sightron was so nice to take the extra 5 lbs off the rifle with the lightweight. The sightron does not have the zero stop but I am not shooting PRS or in the military. Its very simple to keep track of the zero on the sightron. Like others have said you can probably get the shim system for it. -

A little diffrant colored .22-250
willhunt4coues replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
NICE...Looks like you are enjoying your new job... I know I would be in heaven there. -
The Valdada Aluminum 30 mm HD rings. I also use the Valdada 20 moa base on most of my rigs. My new Shilen action has a pinned 20 moa base so that base is an option if you go with the shilen action. Also shilen only asks 50.00 for the pinned base.

Like I have told others. Get one you will not be disappointed. I would pay even more then they offer them for. But don't tell Sightron that.
