I'm sure he will be. His guide fees are probably more from one hunt than whatever slap-on-the-wrist fines AZ will cite him for for his poaching, so there's no reason for him to stop.

Bump. Fern is a good guy and good seller. Buy with confidence!

Wow, your groups at 80 look like mine at 35 😂. Still practicing and hoping to get to 50 before deer season. Glad you were able to recover your deer and end his suffering. Thats a dandy

Cashing in points for late 23 coues tag
Savageman2506 replied to Norteno's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
from what I've been told densities are low, but if you scout hard and hunt hard a very good chance of finding a mature coues buck, especially in the hard to access areas. That's all second hand knowledge though, never even set foot in the unit personally. -
Awesome conclusion to the write-up, good on you!

I personally wouldn't, but that's because my skill at 70 yards is extremely lacking

Yeah, no purple paint rule in AZ, just orange. It also needs to be at least 100 square inches and visible from the point of entry if it's a vehicular access point, or 1/4 mile intervals along fence-lines. Most serious landowners who want to restrict access are going to put no trespassing signs at the major entry points anyways, since it leaves no ambiguity.

if he doesn't want the bottom metal, Id be interested,

if you're running binos and a spotter, then ARCA is a no-brainer for your rifle. I have a Tricer bino adapter, one piece billet aluminum, ARCA bottom so you don't even need an adapter plate. I've also got some ARCA plates I plan on attaching to my rifle build I'm doing now.

I hit a bad hail storm on the 180 heading northwest out of Flagstaff yesterday. I pulled over and drove my truck into a thicket of pines because I was afraid the pea-sized hail would turn into quarter sized hail! No damage to truck, but I decided I'd shoot my bow another time and went home. Ground was white like it had just snowed after. Sure wish I'd paid attention to the forecast! I figured it'd just be some occasional showers. Lol

Flagstaff Chapter - Mule Deer Federation

dang, that's my anniversary weekend or I'd be interested in going. Maybe next year. -
wow. That's upsetting.

seems like it might be handy if you were trying to hang a whole deer to age in a walk-in cooler or a cold shed, but not very applicable for those of us who hunt in the southwest, especially if you're not a road hunter and aren't packing out whole deer very often

Anyone else get a call from azgfd about draw mixup?

nonresidents get put in the resident pool, so it might appear as an R even though they no longer reside in AZ -
I'll PM you.

fancy meeting you here, lol. Nice sheds again.

add another for the Vortex rangefinder. Mine is practically useless past 600 yards for anything smaller than a barn.
-
I'm a fan of Leupold as well, but other than their Mark5 all of their scopes are better for hunting. Which is fine. I would just have a hard time pushing my rifle past 800 yards and I'd like to attempt 1200 yards or so with it. My buddy has the VX5HD firedots on his hunting rifles and it's very nice. Hopefully I'm able to pick one of those up too.
-
I'm between a Burris XTR3i, Bushnell DMR3 Elite Tactical, and Leupold Mark 5HD for my rifle I'm building. They're all somewhat heavy, but its going to be a dual purpose long-range shooting and hunting rig. At any rate, Vortex is not on the list.

Still haven't found any. Its probably my ineptitude more than anything though
