That doesn't include the 25 extra on the late hunt, the 25 extra youth doe tags and the 25 extra on the archery hunt. Gotta keep that revenue up somehow. Im sure it killed them to cut 2,800 total deer tags.

5% total doesn't seem severe to me. Several areas got additional tags.

Get them a short term hunting/fishing combo license for $20 a day. That let's them hunt small game and coyotes/bobcats.

So you broke your leg, were still able to go and hunt and arrow a bull, but the recovery was the problem? No one could help you recover it? How tf were you capable of shooting one with a broken leg but not recovering it? I think the problem with opening up tag returns for generalized reasons would open up a can of worms. What qualifies? For how long? How long before the hunt does it have to have happened? Etc. Countless variations of things that can happen to people. And just about every one of them could get a doctor note from somewhere saying they weren't capable of hunting, the same way everyone was getting doctors notes for crossbows. So to make it simple the answer was no to everyone. Point guard is a good mixture of one get out of jail free card. You have your no questions asked bail out but you only get one.

To be fair, there are a lot of reasons they couldnt update it as soon as the card hits. No state does that. They have to do several checks to make sure things processed right and then have to reissue tags from declined cards etc. While I'm not impressed with their system as a whole, I am impressed by the speed they release results after the card charges. Probably one of the fastest turn arounds of any state.

Well it does mean all that much because it keeps you in the resident pool. If you understand how the draw works you would understand that depending on how many points you have and what hunts you apply for it could take you 25+ years to draw certain elk tags.

I said go bad, but that was a bad choice of words. I meant more about what happens to the guys who's cards get shut off for fraud etc. Thats usually why azgfd has to charge so quickly after the deadline to make sure people cards dont get shut off or cancelled and people miss out on the tags.

Id generally agree with you but ive talked to some outfitters that said every year their phones blow up first day of charges and they're not getting any calls. Then the people that are several points above max for certain hunts not getting hits, it's hard to believe all of that would change in just one year but maybe.

I've heard similar things. Then comes the issue of what about the poor people who's cards go bad between now and then?

Jk, that happens all the time with charges.

I heard they screwed up and reversed a bunch of charges.
