Shooter McGavin replied to n2horns's topic in The Campfire
Just received a phone call stating I was the proud owner the 15x56 HD binos, wooooooohooooooo. Thank you so much AES, they'll be used on my up & coming cow elk and deer hunts. I can't stop hootin and hollering. I got a grin from ear to ear. -
Good ole joke: OJ Simpson just heard the jury verdict and jumps up in the air hootin and hollering, woohoo I'm going to Cancun, the defense lawyer stands up and says, "hey OJ, you're not going to Cancun, you're going to the can, coon"

Yesterday just saw another dead one along shoulder of I-10/Houghton south off ramp, those black masks are a sure dead giveaway it's a coon.

Want to give a big ole shout out to the SAWC rim fire youth shoot they put on today out at the 3pts shooting range. Brought both my boys out and what a total blast. They had steel silhouette targets at 25, 40 and 50yd, plus out to 100-200yds if you wanted to really test your skills. Very professional, very fun, very safe and a lunch to top it off. My 10 yr old boy took 2nd in the finals, shooting eyes off of flies they were. My 13 yr old was a little butt hurt that he lost to his younger bro. Good times. Looking forward to the jr hunt in Nov. Moe & Andy, it was really nice to meet you. Greg, Jake & Von

Seen them in Bowie, near the hot springs. Recently saw a dead one on Palo Verde Rd/36th in Tucson, seen them at Agua Caliente Park.

I have no idea what the water table is out in New River or what kind of drought conditions up there, but make sure you have a pump guy perform a GPM on the well. You don't want to have to drill deeper or lower your pump due to low production. That dips into your hunting $$$ for sure.

I remember during firearm training while I was in the academy, if any of us recruits said, blurped out, mentioned the word clip while loading our magazines they would get singled out with a loud verbal reprimanding, had to carry all the ammo cans to the various yardages of shooting lanes (100 to 5 yds) and had to buy all the firearm instructors including us recruits doughnuts for the next day, then as a class we would all have to participate in a nice little conditioning drill usually in the sand pit followed by a nice session in the PT room. Good times for sure!!!!!

Bipod or Triclawps?
Shooter McGavin replied to PelaPapas's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Problem solved, how about my Harris bipod 12"-25". Lowered price to $50.00, I'm in Tucson. -
Definitely not the milk bar where Alex and his Droogs would perform ultra violence acts while singing "singing in the rain"!

Youth rifle poll....... Need some input
Shooter McGavin posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've narrowed it down to a 243 or 25-06, what our your thoughts on which one might be better for kids between 10-13 yrs old. It will be used for WT and javelina, they can use my gun for elk. You guys are very good at picking the fly poop out of the pepper, so let's hear all the good and bad or even other possible calibers. -
Youth rifle poll....... Need some input
Shooter McGavin replied to Shooter McGavin's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Well I have to thank everybody who responded, all very good choices but I ended up picking a Browning x-bolt 25-06 topped with a Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x40 BC. This is a nice little rig. I took it out last week to dial it in, love it. The recoil is next to nothing compared to my 270wsm. The kids are itchin to try it out, can't wait for their Jr. deer hunt. Hope to post pics and stories and of course the ear to ear grins when they tag out. -
Good O'le Anna Henry Elementary, I went there back in 76-80. That's when schools were schools, you got in trouble and Mr Appleman (the principal) would use his ping pong paddle with holes drilled in it to punish you for getting in trouble and the lunch ladies made half way decent food.
