Is it not a 4x4? I think you could definitely do better. Great looking truck though........

Looks like Jared began and ended his career trying to get into smaller pants...................

Congrats to you and your boy............It truly is an awesome feeling, but it doesn't even come close to the reaction/feeling when you both are eyeballing (little guy using the scope and you using your binos) staring down the buck he is about to put a tag on. It only gets better. The memories have just begun................

They are awesome indeed. The amount of money spent on the time, taxidermist bill, the actual house to be able to have the room for all those mounts is mind blowing, I personally think it's a little excessive for my tastes. My trophy room consists of the following: my 1st javelina kill (archery) which is mounted in my garage above the door leading into the house. A decent 3x WT Euro mount in my office at work My 2010 Mt Lion skull in my office at work Another Javi skull in my office And a ton of sawed off antlers from previous kills of WT and Mulie killed during my many years of hunting in a garage cabinet. I'm a simple man..........

Jr deer hunt, I think daddy is getting more & more excited
Shooter McGavin replied to Shooter McGavin's topic in Youth Hunters
Winner winner chicken dinner, you are correct on range location. Yeah when she was shooting the 22, some guy next to us was slinging lead down range from his pistols. I don't mind, but I was more worried about the spent casings flying our way and landing and scorching her. I like that range most of time, close and convenient but would rather get out some place out in the sticks to do this kind of thing. It just sucks you have to go so far to do so. -
Jr deer hunt, I think daddy is getting more & more excited
Shooter McGavin posted a topic in Youth Hunters
Just received two jr deer hunt tags in the mail, thought why not take the 10 yr old daughter to get acclimated to the Kimberl 270 wsm since the boy has already done so 2 yrs in a row. Spent 30 minutes warming up the the CZ 452 22lr. Breathing, squeezing the trigger and basic fundamentals. It got real warm really quick so we moved to the longer down range targets and got her set up. She squeezed off only 3 rds, not because of the kick but due to the other land cannons being shot on either side of her. All 3 rds within a 6" circle, not bad for 1st time out. She said the kick wasn't bad it was the boom that got to her. I told her when you see deer, the adrenaline kicks in and the only thing you hear is your heartbeat. Everything else somehow goes away. We will definitely dial it in as it gets cooler but very proud of her for shooting her 1st high caliber rifle. Next week I plan on taking her to the special deer place to see if I can teach her the patience of glassing and checking the game camera. Only got pics of the 22 target, hers were on the left mine the right. -
Went up this morning in unit 33 where I have my camera set to swap out batteries and SD card. Both my kids got drawn for the early hunt Oct 9-15, I also got the Oct 23-29 WT same unit. Beautiful kind of cool morning to start off but warmed up real quick. Saw a couple of bucks and numerous does just hiking to my spot. Swapped out card and raced home to view. Overall very pleased with the activity and 6 different bucks in all various antler stages. These ones caught my eye.

Don't rule out the Kahles 10x42, superb glass. I've had mine close to 15 years and still going strong.

Went to Alaska in the summer of 1990, stayed 4 months in the brush just outside Kenai. Went through 2 tents while visiting, trying to work in the fish canaries and tons of site seeing. Saw tons of bear just on the drive up, especially through BC, Canada. Would wake up in the morning peak our heads out of the tent and would have moose and caribou walking through camp. Alaska is BIG and beautiful, one day would love to go back for a hunt and fish trip. Nice looking bear though, love the snow covered mountains in the back.

I killed 75% off these just south of I-10 (Rita rd/Rocket Strav). I would lop off the head, put the body in the fridge until I finished working and when I got home the kids and I would skin the snake and dissect them. We were always hoping to see if they had any critters still in their bellies. Never did find any. The other 25% of the snakes were various scouting and hunting trips. I remember bringing one home and had some basketball practice to go To and by the time we remembered it was really late in the evening. The next day, almost 30 hrs from the time of kill and being stuck in the fridge we started our science experiment. Not more than 5 seconds into slicing the belly open with an exacto knife the headless snake squirmed and struck my hand. Talk about filling your britches and having the kids hear some colorful expletives. I'm sure I'll hear a handful from tree-huggin snake charming folk, but if I'm out in the field alone or with my kids these snakes will meet their maker. No reason to get bit and ruin your day. Plus they make cool Show-N-Tell for school.

Tried my luck on tanning some, some turned out nice, others not so good. Never tried eating em. I am very picky about anything with that many tiny bones. Kinda takes the enjoyment out of eating if you ask me.

El Gorrion across from Pueblo High School (12th/36th) is fantastic, especially the red & green chili. Their roach coaches that cruise the south side are to die for.

Do you agree with G&F forcing kids to take Hunter Safety???
Shooter McGavin replied to Big Browns's topic in Youth Hunters
Finding a class room setting in Tucson was impossible and when something did come up, it was too late to sign up or always had prior engagements. I put both of my kids through the online class ( not by choice, but do to schedules) and I really wanted them to have other kids around to get to know, have a more interaction, etc....but I actually think the one on one sit down at our own pace setting was beneficial. We alternated reading paragraphs, had our own snacks and icee's and took the tests together writing down each question and answer for referencing the final test. I do think it's beneficial, even though I have taught them from the very beginning all the aspects of gun safety, it never hurts to have more and more knowledge, whether it's survival to gun etiquette to basic field dressing. I remember taking it when I was 10 and I couldn't wait til my kids turned 10 to pass on this tradition. Bite the bullet and have fun taking it with them, it's really cool seeing them get their Hunter Ed patch, hat and certificate.......smiles all around from kids to the parents. -
Well I put my two kids (12 yr and 10 yr old) in for the jr hunt yesterday hoping they might have a chance for the $500 early gift card drawing and found out from AZGF that they need to be at least 18 to be included in this drawing. I call BS.............How many jr hunters have their own credit card to apply for a tag? I am assuming most parents pay for their kids hunts up until a certain age, I know my kids at this age rely on me putting them in and having enough money in the bank to cover the tag costs. If they aren't going to let them partake in the drawing they better dang make sure all the jr hunters get a tag. Just sayin............................

Burris scope has found a new home, thanks to all interested parties

SOLD-Just had the pleasure of meeting the new owner (Nitemann) of this Sig Sauer 22lr, transaction went smooth. Definitely add Nitemann to the good guy list.

I recently acquired a Burris 3-9x40mm 1" Fullfield II that came with my new recently purchased CZ 452 22lr rifle and I no longer am in need of it. I have purchased another scope to replace this one. Glass is in great shape, previous owner dropped it and it has a nice size ding in the body. No way does it affect the performance just the appearance. This would make a nice scope for a newbie or even someone upgrading from an older fixed power scope. I am located in Tucson, shouldn't be no more than a couple bucks to ship if anybody up north is interested.

At the most 60 through each mag so 120 total.

Just throwing it out there, looking for a nice scope. 1" tube only, willing to trade +/- cash if right deal comes along. Let me know if interested.
