Shot Feb 20th, 2010 in unit 36A, shot with a Kimber 270WSM @ 10 yds Quick story: On the 2nd day of our javelina hunt while driving back to camp I noticed something dart off of this outcropping of rocks about about 60yds away. I asked my buddy if he saw it and he said he didn't. At this time I'm thinking, was this a cat. So I stop the truck get out and start walking toward the rocks, the wind was howling so bad that day (in my favor at this time) that I knew whatever it was would never hear me sneeking up toward it. As I get up to the rocks I turn and look toward my buddy and raise my hands up into the air and do a "OH WELL" shrug. I take a few steps around the rocks and notice the lion is crouched down (roughly 10 yds away)looking directly at my buddy who at this time is standing/resting on the side of the truck bed just looking at me. At this time I fill my britches thinking to myself holy bajesus, raise my rifle and Ka-Blam. The lion fell backwards off of the rocks about 5' and just glared at me with the darkest black eyes that I ever ever seen (kinda spooky actually) a few seconds go by and I start hootin and hollering yelling at my buddy that I got it. Tagged it and took it to WGP to keep it cool because AZGF wasn't open on the weekend to do there check-in procedure. I took it to AZGF on Monday, they took a fat sample, a tooth, sex (it was a tom) and they took info from me on where/what & when? I then took it to Lippert/Doyle Taxidermy so that they could skin it and tan the hide for me. One day and many $$$$ I will get a full body mount. I have the skull on the mantle and hide in the freezer, let me tell you I love showing it off to guests who come on over. I did get a letter from AZGF and they said the lion was 9 years old. By the way I had WGP process the meat and my family and I couldn't stop eating it, it was that good. I personally think it was better than elk-call me crazy. I have hunting for 30 years and have only seen 3 cats, sure wish I could get one every year.

Eagle Rifle Works muzzle loader
Shooter McGavin posted a topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I have a muzzle loader that I picked up at an estate sale, inside where the cloth patches are kept it is stamped Eagle Rifle Works and it appears to be JA GOLKER, not 100% sure. I don't have a clue if it shoots or if it is just a conversation piece. Any help on steering me in the right direction to see if it is valuable or just a dust collector. It is really cool looking, but not really interested in keeping it. Thanks in advance for any help. -

Covert Trail Camera Sale
Shooter McGavin replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
Wow Amanda great toy. I just now finally had time to set mine up today. I put it on a tree outside my workshop were I work at and measured out 15' 25' 35' and 45' distances from the camera and unbelievable pics of people doing stuff including myself just being silly to try and set off the camera. Pics turned out crystal clear, I even got a hummingbird and could see his wings in different stages of him flapping. Can't wait to set it up this Sunday to see what critters come to a secluded spring I came across last deer season. I will post some pics hopefully in a couple of weeks of some animals or just whatever should want there pic taken. Thanks again. -
Pistol For Sale-Price reduction (SOLD-SOLD-SOLD)
Shooter McGavin replied to Shooter McGavin's topic in Classified Ads
Condition of pistol is great. I guess it depends on where you are concealing it. It seems to be bigger than a lot of the 380's, but in the same time it's small. If you are located in Tucson I would be happy to meet you someplace to take a look at it. Thanks for asking. -
I have a xd9 mm sub compact, with all paperwork/original carry case with all the goodies that come inside/an extra 16 rd clip/cabela's canvas clip & gun bag/night sights. I would like to get 510.00 if you are interested.

Covert Trail Camera Sale
Shooter McGavin replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
Hello Amanda, I am really considering purchasing one of the Covert II cameras that are being discontinued. I have been looking at all the reviews on different models and like everything out there, there is always good and bad reviews. What are your experiences with these cameras? How do they hold up in the Arizona heat/temps? How long do the batteries usually last? Any feedback would be great on your or anybody else that you know who uses them on a regular basis. Thanks for your help. How do the Covert II cameras hold up in the blazing heat of Arizona -
