A buddy and I knocked down a nice limit yesterday. 10 GW Teal, 3 Mallards, a Pintail and a Canada Goose. Been shooting lots of teal this year.

Anyone hunt Desert Pheasant Recreation in Coolidge
mr.smith replied to Big Browns's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Don't knock it til you try it. The birds don't stay where they are put. I have hunted down there a couple times. Bob and Arlette run a good operation. I have enjoyed it everytime. -
I got rifle javelina in 6A. No turkey
-
Congrats again Marshall! Glad I could help.

Looks like a scent post. Maybe a big female and two older cubs. Cats can become obsessive and euphoric over certain scents.
-
What part of town are you in? I would like the ammo can.

Regardless of the other details it's a real stinker to follow somebody else's blood trail and kill that animal out from under them. Especially if they hit the animal well enough that it went and bedded down. Misses claimed misses and abandoned the search thus relinquishing "ownership".

On the 9th was all license and app fees. On the 28th $54 is 3 turkey tags and $85 is 4 javelina tags both minus the $7.50 application fee that you already paid on the 9th. Not sure what the $4.00 is.

What a beast! They posted on their FB page 183 and change as measured by AZGFD

Great Buck Jake! Congrats!

Javelina for me, my wife and my nephew. It will be his first hunt. I can't wait. Especially since we don't have any fall tags.

Great bull and terrific write up and pictures Congratulations! and thanks for sharing. -
I really enjoyed the course. Mark Thompson is a pretty inspiring dude to be around. I learned a lot. Especially since this was my first exposure to load development and reloading. I would definitely recommend it but, I wasn't the one shelling out the money for it.

Duck Hunting Next Mon or Tues?
mr.smith replied to 43F's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
There are some ducks up here in Flagstaff. Early arrivals and locals. Got shot up pretty good this weekend. This incoming weather might push some freshies in though. -
We did discuss that. With a BC of .507 and a muzzle velocity of 3350 the load we created has 1902 fps and 1445 ft-lbs at 1000yds. Still plenty of oompf at range. I doubt I'll ever shoot that far at game. But, now I know I could if the situation warrants it and the conditions are within my comfort zone.

Anyone going Duck hunting this weekend?
mr.smith replied to Big Browns's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
You describe pass shooting. Not necessarily sky busting. Sky busting is shooting at ducks way up there and out of range. Mostly just scaring or wounding birds that won't/can't be retrieved. -
Has anyone seen this??
mr.smith replied to Webber's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I'm totally against Obamacare but, that is totally fake. I downloaded the law and couldn't find any of that. I intend to read the whole thing so I can speak confidently and competently on it. Unfortunately it is written all in legalese/lawyer so it will take a while to slog through. -
It was passed during a super majority. Dems controlled both the House and Senate. Not one Republican voted for it. I don't see how they could have opposed it more. Meanwhile, the campaigner in chief is still flying around the country giving talks to his flocks of sheeple.

No worries. Just a little stressed today

Yeah, 8 years in the Army , 4 years of college and 4 years as a term employee totally haven't been the real world.
-
Another fundamental shift not noticed by the private sector is a decrease in "permanent" federal employees. There has been a shift to hiring "term" employees. Our jobs are not guaranteed. We have to perform to be extended each year and have to reapply/compete for our jobs every four years. Additionally with budget cuts vacant positions are being filled at a slower rate if at all. So, it isn't all peaches and cream and there are no guarantees, at least not in the Department of the Interior.

Yay! I'm getting an unpaid vacation. How is this better?
-
Congrats! I'm jealous. I haven't been able to get them to talk to me. Been out to Winslow the past two weekends. Lots of track, lots of mosquitoes. No elk seen yet. I'll find em though.

Oh look! Democrats! it's the "Occupy Bearizona" movement.

Thats hilarious!
