    Minox 15x56 or Brunton 15x51

I know it wasn't mentioned but if the Swaro"s are simply too much $$ to spend ( as it was for me) but I wanted GREAT optics look into the Vortex 15X56 Kaibab!!!! I saved for almost a year on a tight budget and picked up a pair. The glass is FANTASTIC. Everyone i have spoke with rates them slightly higher than the Minox and just a smidge (is that a word) below the Swaro's and the Leica when looking at a resolution chart. There was an AWESOME review on this website that convinced me to purchace them. After looking through them and the Swaro's in the field for the first time I could not tell a difference between the two. Are they as good as the Swaro's........no, are they dang close YES!! P.S. The warranty is the absolute best in the business as well. Good luck in whatever you choose

    Mid-day glassing?

Whitetail deer I find are a-lot like people..... They are creatures of habit day in and day out, they stay within 1-2 miles of where they are born, and they like to get up during the day feed and stretch out rather than laying in one position all the time. Kind of like me when I get to lounge and do nothing every once in a while.

Did you check to see what was in the bags.... wacky-tobacci perhaps?? reading posts like this makes me all the more anxious for my hunt at the end of November. Here's to a successful one, and to my new binoculars getting in before I leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

calles during the 27 Nov-3 Dec

I had this hunt last year in unit 33. Unknown about using calls, however the deer did not even seem close to being in the rut. Does were with does and the bucks were..... well.... pushed back into the sticks. There is just way to many hunts in 33. I had a December tag in unit 33 the year before and it was amazing!!! bucks were running everywhere. what a difference a couple weeks makes. Good luck

    Don't wait !!!

It's too bad I have to be reminded how much I take for granted all the little things that i see and have in my life every day. I am TRULY very sorry for your familys loss.

    What rifle is better!!!

Remington now makes its model 700 in 257 wby. One of the FLATTEST shooting rounds there is. Mine drops about 4inches at 300 yds and delivers 2000lbs of energy at that range. In the end buy what you feel most comfortable with, and can shoot with confidence!!

    Vortex 15x56 Kaibab came in-finally

Please let us, or me know how the field comparison goes!!!!! I'm starting the long saving process for a pair of Swaro's. I have the Vortex 15X50's and Pentax 12.5X50 sp's. The Vortex are nice but worth about what I paid for them (around 600$) The pentax I still consider better, the clarity is really good!! I should have gone with the old saying...."buy the first time what you are going to use forever" Let me know if the swaro's are worth the extra dough PLEASE Thanks for posting Stay Safe

    Vortex vs Brunton

I feel your pain brother!!! I am a blue collar working class man who cant justify spending 2K for binos when my little one needs 1400$ orthodics!! I came to the conclusion that having a "special needs" beautifull little girl who needs lots of my money to help her grow and develope is my priority... not Swaros!! I have a pair of Vortex 15X50"s. Alot of people laugh at my purchace here on this board, but it is the best my family can afford. I still find LOTS of game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I use patience and a 40$ tripod and do just fine......... So go with what you can afford. remember... Hard work beats talent every time talent dosent work hard!! good luck to everyone this season!!

    Duwane Adams glassing class

I have always wanted to go to that class... A group of my co-workers (all fireman) are planning on going in the near future. My only problem/issue is going to be my optics. I have a pair of Vortex 15X50's, not Zeiss, Swaro's, or Leicas. My family simply cant afford to spend the money on top optics (wish I could trust me). Will I be handicapped not using the BEST there is?? My binos work pretty darn good but not Swaro good!! I just dont want to be the only person not seeing or glassing like everyone else.. Can you please give some insight. Much appreciated

    new rifle

some on this board obviously havent been in a sporting goods store in quite a while!!! ALL QUALITY hunting ammo now days is going to run you at least 40$ no matter what you shoot. Yes reloading helps, but if you want the best ammo from the shelves it is going to cost you a ton of loot weather you shoot a 260 or a 30-378....... and from my experiences Weatherby ammo is really tough to beat in terms of quality and consistancy.

    Rifle scope help needed!!

I am going on a guided hunt in October of 09' for Elk in northern Wyoming and need a good, preferably high power rifle scope for around 500$ that Im going to put on a 300 Weatherby mag. I looked at several, but am leaning toward the Burris Signature Select 4-16X44, over the Bushnells, and the Nikon Monarch. Anyone compared these, or those who have any info regarding these or other scopes in this price range please let me know what you think. PS (I havent been drawn in my home state for 10 years now, so I am having to go elsewhere to finally hunt for elk) kind of a pity if you ask me. Thanks

    Rifle scope help needed!!

The outfitter told me to expect differsnt types of terrain (whatever that means) but he says its best to have your "scope zero'd in at at least 200yds" And yes I would love a zeiss!!!!! But what the mind wants and what the wallet can afford are two different things. I have put in for the general muzzleloader hunt and still cant seem to get drawn oh well I suppose it just makes me appreciate it more when I do finally pull a tag in my home state. thx for the replies

    Vortex

I really like mine as well!! I have compared them to many others and put them only behind the Zeiss 15X60's and of course the Swaro's. So with the exception of the first, and last 10-minuts of the day they are about 95% of what the 2000$$ ones are. And yes they are better than the Bruntons, the Fuginons and Nikon 15's. Case closed. I'll take the pepsi challenge any time.... in fact I already have.

    Vortex 2x Doubler

I have them and tried them out on my Vortex 15X50's................... save your money on a good tripod!!

    Late Nov success

Congrats!! I just got back from unit 33. I glassed up 25 deer in 3-days......... ALL DOES!!!!!! not one stinkin buck, not one!! I think it's the late hunt or nothin' for me from now on.

    Unit 33 late nov/early dec.

I have the same hunt in unit 33 also !!! I tagged out opening morning last year but it was the late december hunt, so obviously things will be different. Unfortunalty family matters have prevented me from any scouting this year so I will have to rely on my "same ole" spots as last year. The only problem is they are only about 20-30 minuts hike off a major dirt road so other hunter hunters will most likely be "marching around" stirring up everything. It still amazes me to see guys trucking across open ground all dang day looking for animals. So I am going to have to either just go with the spots that I am familiar with, or try and find some new ones. Could be a tough tag to fill, I also only have three full day to fill it.... Oh Well its better than work and dirty diapers. Good luck send my an e-mail if you want to discuss some areas, It's public land so I have nothing to hide.
