What unit was this in? I take my kids up around Showlow to the east to walk about in the trees. They were in unit 2b. Not sure wich part though.

I've seen them quite a few times higher up on Escadilla Mtn. My dad and Grandpa used to kill them for dinner while hunting deer way back when.

WOW.!!
Sounds like that guy missed out on hunter safety as a kid in a big way.

Awesome experience. Definitly an unforgettable memory in the field.
Congrats to both of you.

Last week me Dad and Brother went scouting for their elk hunt. They planned on checking a tank where they normally see a lot of elk . When they got close to it my bro. said that he was going to park the truck and walk around, but he got the feeling that he should just drive up to it. When they came up over the burm there was a pack of 10 wild dogs eating a cow. As soon as the dogs saw the truck they rushed it and if my brother would have given them the chance they probably would have eaten the tires and anything else they could sink their teeth into. Unfortunately neither of them had guns. So they left the dogs to their kill.
I was just wonder how common are packs of wild dogs and if any of you have ever had a run in with any of them?

Congrats. Great find. That's what I like, buy a good pair of boots and wear them out.

gentlemen, the correct spelling is "coues".My bad. Must have gotten in a hurry.

I watched some bucks last year that didn't move much in the velvet aswell as when their antlers became hard. It might have had something to do with the abundance of food that was available last year too. I think that couse deer like their home range, and if they feel pressured they know where to hide right close by.

beautiful buck. I'm guessing 44 and1/8

OTC youth turkey tage? heck of an idea. From what I have seen on my outings there are plenty of turkeys to go around for the kids and adults alike.

Congrats on the hunt. That has to be an awesome feeling putting the smack down on any animal with a muzzle loader.

All but one deer that I got as a youth was taken with a .243. All were one shot kills too. One out to 300yards.

Way to stack 'em up man.
Looks like Ol' Boy is taking a nice breather in the shade before the trip out.
( I think thats your dogs name if I remember right.)

My wife and I named our son Ethan Axel

Just as different genetics produces different antler configurations.
Different genetics produces different hide coloration.

I bought one a couple years ago. I didn't like it too much. Seemed to me like the middle was higher than the two ends and i just could not get comfortable.

After talking to my dad about it. He said that one of his friends was out there with his wife scouting for elk. They kind of got seperated and when he found his wife again that same pack had her cornered and were moving in on her. He killed three or four of them and the rest ran off.
Sorry about your hound.
