  1. I am looking to buy a hand gun to carry with me on scouting and shed hunting trips.

I carried my boss's 357 ruger with a six inch weighted barrel on my last trip. After the first mile it was extremely noticeable.

So I am looking for somthing with similar power but with lighter ammo and a lighter gun.

I am leaning toward buying a Glock 10mm in the compacked or full size version.

    What would be your choice?

  2. Wow! Great finds! You are so lucky to be out there experiencing that kind of wilderness! It is my dream to go to Alaska. It will happen some day. Thanks for sharing!

    Those are cool sheds.

Keep those Alaska posts coming. Alaska has always been an enchanting place to me.

  3. Went shed hunting today, picked up three dink5 pointers, one was a freak of nature, anyway I stumbled onto this doe who sort of walked off looking all nervous .. . . I looked around where she was bedded and three feet away I found two little fawns! Must not be one day old!

they just layed there not even flinching while I pet them for a little bit and snapped a few quick cell pix and a few videos. . . here is the only one my phone would upload to a site to share.

    That's wicked awesome!!

It looks to me like this is turnig out to be a great year for wildlife.

I have seen several different sets of twins, both elk, deer and antelope. All as healthy as cand be.

  4. All great posts. I agree with the article posted.

I have also wondered if a buck dies of old age does he leave this world

with about the same size of antlers as his first set.

When I get a chance I will post a pic of a shed I found last weekend of a spike that is

six inches long and four and three quarters inches at the base.

  5. You don't think I'd leave a beatifull elk head in a canyon just cause it still has hair on it do you?  My First nice winter elk head find to boot. You'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands buddy!

Or, the AZGFD could trade you the head with a citation....

    exactly ;)

PULEEEEZE! Any of you guys find a dead head and you're all telling us here on this site that you'd just leave it!?!?! I sure as heck wouldn't but that's just me. Does that make us that do outlaws? I harldy doubt it. I guarandamntee if I was 4 miles into a roadless area and found a head that it'd be on my pack just as ol AZantlerhead did. Now if it happened to be a GIANT head I'd at least make a call and let them know that I was gonna take it cause big heads attract a lot of attn, most good but the little bad that it does can spoil all the fun of finding it in the first place. I rarely find skulls but got lucky back in March with that big nt wt head I found. I made sure that I called a GW just after I found it just in case any brown stinky stuff about it surfaced.

You said it Grong!! More power to ya AZantlerhead.

  6. That's great you were repairing the dang of the tank ;) Glad you left out the name of that place at least. You're bro likes the peace pipe 2!!!

Theres a few B&C coues in there! Hope you guys connect on one! A tip, you can hear that quad a mile a way maybe 2. Invest in a pack frame and hikeing boots. It will keep that place wild, and keep it a big buck sanctuary ;) Good luck with that spot, it's a gem!

I hear ya. Every other I've been there it's been hoofin it. They don't call me bushman for nothin I've been all over the jungles of north and south america doin what I love to do. that is seein the true wild.

Thanks for the luck. Almost every time I've been in there I've found the sheds of bucks that most people only dream of taking.

    Be cool my brotha,

  7. Hey AZantler head or should I say pot head. Your right we did ride to the edge of the canyon with my brother's quad. Great way of packing in the equipment that we used to repair the dam that was holdin back the water of that tank you found that shed at. When we looked at the tank It was from 800ft above it. We wathched you walk around the tank jump down into the washout, that we have been spending valuable time to repair for years of future hunting, and out then walk farther up into the canyon. By the way we were not off roading. It was a well marked forest service OHV road. I can produce the trail numbers for you if you would like.

    Love, peace, and chicken grease,

post-2337-1211953916_thumb.jpgpost-2337-1211954283_thumb.jpgOnly found one deer antler and one elk this day, It was cool cause the elk had blood on it and was my first tank side shed, not to mention 2 other guys I ran into on a quad said they looked at the tank that morning   To worried about getting caught off road to see the shed I guess. <_< People like that will cause public land closures, "shed hunting seasons" etc.etc. :( Ol' boy did show a bit more interest in this fresh drop brown. march08
