If you guys were unable to find the dead deer and seen lots of lion tracks around the kill site than I would say lion kill The rest of the deer prolly aint far away from the kill site Remember lions drag there dinner off into the brush eat and then cover it up and then the next day they eat and drag it off and cover it up again utill its gone

Thats prolly just about what most of us might do. But how fishy would that look to the G&F if you were stopped on yer way out. They could think it was poached and you would have a bunch of talkin to do. My best advise is to tell the G&F about what I found and that I was going back to go get it.......Then you have at least one leg to stand on if you were stopped on your way out with it. hawkeye, Why you got to start busten on LittleBear for what you figure is a g&f problem? If you think he is all about $ you are way wrong....And if you think lions are a problem, then what are you doing about it? LittleBear hunts and kills lions with a long bow.....What about you? P.S. I dont think lions have as much impact on deer as alot of people think, but drought plays a big row in how all wildlife acts.....All summer long I seen bear tracks were you would never see them before. And the most bucks I have ever seen in the flats. I think it is just how it goes out there with mother nature....And lions might just be out there too......Good luck and have fun. Terry

My buddy Rich is the one who invented the whirling woodpecker, he has a film clip of a stand he did callin in some foxes and had a fox come in to his call and just as the fox jumps up in the air to grab the whirling woodpecker a lion jumps out from the brush and snatches the fox with it's mouth....Then turns around and looks at the camera with the fox in its mouth with a look on it's face like thanks for the meal......I think his site is called outfoxedproducts.com and if you go to his site click on to (The Hunt)

This year scouting I glassed up a red/cinnamon buck he was a nice 3x3. At first I thought it was a calf cause he was behind a tree but when he stepped around a gave me a better look I couldn't believe what I was seeing, he was about as cinnamon/red as cattle get and the insides of his legs were white. I would see him just about everytime I went out but when my hunt came along he was gone dang the luck.

agreed. there is no doubt that lions do their fair share, but many other things attribute to the hurting of the herd as well. Ya, like Andy and his long bow
