I learned a few more leasons this season....Both animals/situations that I intend illustrate are liver shot coues and hit low.
The first, was given plenty of time (over night) with no pursuit, but was "bumped" by an un-known... likely, elk coming up it's back trail 20 minutes after the shot. The very good blood trail disapeared (to the eye) after the deer went to a run... this buck appeared to run to his death and was recovered over a 1/4 mile away up a drainage in the original direction the deer was traveling. It apeared that when the deer went to a run he was heading to the left.... but apparently he was heading somewhere, and somehow resumed that path. The thought that a wounded deer won't go far uphill is out the window once they have gone to flight mode. Grid searching every inch of country with as many people as possible is the only way to recover your animal before the meat and cape are lost.
The second, was impacted by un-forcasted rain storm 40 minutes afer the shot. Even more blood than the first buck... almost like buckets of blood. Because of the rain we moved in to soon... the blood was washing away! We bumped the buck and lost the blood trail less than 200 yds from the POI... he probably would have been right there after the storm... had we waited. The buck ran to the bottom of the canyon and then started up the canyon bottom....once again apeared to run to his death, and I found him 3/4 of a mile from the POI, again in the bottom of the drainage. Once again man power was the key to success and the meat was good!
What I learned.... The best laid plans can go bad on you.... Effort and man power can get you back in the game!

A few weeks back I was in Bull Basin and tried a few new bows out and was very impressed! So much so that I really want a new bow for the summer and next years deer hunts (since that is the only tag I can seem to get)
.... But I also saw some new sights and rests that I really liked and just thought it would be great to see what guys are setting up this year.... and what is the latest an greatest!!!Post um' up!!!!

I want to stay with Mathews... but Jeremy has been after me to switch... and I now that Hoyt has a bow that I like I might have to sell-out if the $$$ make it worth it.
One thing I do know is that I plan to buy that new True Ball sight that is similar to the Spot Hogg.... but better built! If I go Mathews it will be a Monster.... want to try a speed bow on a coues! 
G, Dan has a MONSTER demo set up to shoot, please go look at one, i saw it weeks ago,way nice, your a big boy, tell Jeremy to take a hike. you can do it, give that MONSTER A SHOT, SPOT13

I have had friends and family use the Rage on Elk and that was enough for me to know that I won't use them. I did not like the penetration.... if they hit any bone at all they may not kill the animal in a quick manner. I would recommend large cutting diameter, fixed, three blade heads... I like the Thunderheads, or Muzzy 3 blades. Elk have long hair that can quickly clot the wound making blood trailing difficult. As mentioned before, shot placement is critical! Aim below the middle!!!

HI, i called this nice BIG TOM TURKEY in on opening day this last friday 9:00am and my brother shot him with his bow, 30yard shot, 23 pounds, this was to much fun, good shot Gary. THANKS TATTOO13

Metallica, back in the late 70s i was on the same stage as Metallica, it was the all day concerts down in phoenix, 10 bucks got ya in the door, 20 bands in the summer nice and hot, lots of fun. the band that i was in back then was called Stink Finger, can i say that, we played what they called underground music. i think you were holding moms hand back then. the record i like and love worken the kit too is Master of puppets. hey Gino, construction is slow for you now, i will need a drum tech to set up and take down when i hit the road, hope you don't mind the bus, me i get to fly with the band sorry. 50 pounds is worken for me i will be 54 years young this summer, iam doing alright for country trash, the photos were taken this morning, i can still ROCK THE HOUSE BABY. hope you like the new drum sticks. remember that time i was saying trash to Tina about 9x7 i was just playing, tell her iam sorry, its you i WANT. . Nice display, Are those the three amigos in the lower right of the first picture? looks like a rough crowd there Couldn't help noticing the drum set. In the second pic ,I couldn't help noticing that the vehicle on the left might need new tread and the differential might have a slight leak.And it's a little dusty. Also what kind of pine trees are those in the back ground? They sure are tall. Only tall things around here have thorns. ummmm. let's see, oh yeah. The vehicle on the right.

hi josh, waz up, Erica is fine, now that it's warming up in the rim country, she wants to go to town, i had to take her shoes away from her, she don't get far from the ranch, that dirt road is hard on her feet, the dogs alwas drag her back if she gets to far.

This was my first archery deer, taking in Jan '08. When I dropped him off at the taxidermist & he said it would be a little over a year, my heart landed in my boots.... but I stayed pretty busy this year & the time passed quickly enough! He did a great job & it was worth the wait!
way to go, very nice, if you don't mind, can you give the taxidermist name, my frist deer with my bow was a muley. thanks INKSPOT

For all you TECHNO WIENES out here it's not about speed, i shoot a old conquest two MATHEWS 2000, i have it set on 50 pounds, i have killed nine nice coues deer, one shot 50 yards and down they go, so put your SPEED NUMBERS in your pipe and SMOKE IT. if you would like to see my cool trucks go by BOOTLEG ARCHERY in payson. DON'T FORGET TO PAY YOUR BILL. HA HA HA

I got 3 boys hunting Thurs. Fri. & Staurday.... and one hunting today... I am gunna hold out cuz I think we can get one more down, if the boys hunt hard! One of the three is a first timer that has passed up a lot of little bucks this month but will now shoot the next spike he sees! My son and my (almost 3rd) son are hunting where we have not been able to get a shot at the biggest bucks we have seen this season... and 2 of the bucks we took there are triple digit deer! So I have hope that they will get one last chance to see a No Brainer.... I am Prayin'!! And you guys can wait.... I know you all want horn porn... and I promise it is a coming!!!! good luck to them kids, they will tag out, i still feel like a FAT CHICK, i hope our lunch goes better than this. your treat
