124 2/8" awesome buck, congrats again -
I already have 2 chocolate labs, one male and one female both under 2 years old and I have my hands full! I would love one more but the wife says 2 is enough. they look great though! Good luck.

thanks guys. I don't know when I am going to be able to get back out there but I'm not worried about him. He is in a spot with no road access and a little hike in. I will let you all know how it goes.

I am posting this for my 15 year old brother. Him and another of my brothers drew the unit 22 tag for october, and my dad went along to help them out. They glassed up some does and a muley buck on opening morning, with no WT bucks spotted. They moved to a different vantage point on saturday morning and at 7:40 am my dad glassed up this buck at 800 yds. He was in really thick cover and right up against a sheer rock face. My dad and younger brother took off to get closer to him. They spotted him bedded and ranged him @ 228 yards. He was behind a rock and my brother didn't have a shot so they needed to wait for him to get up. By the time they had stalked within range and relocated the buck it was almost 10:00. My brother got in a prone position and got ready for the shot. After about 10 minutes the buck decided to stand and stretch...my brother was ready and laid the hammer down on him. The buck is very symetrical and scores 102 3/8". Clay at Mogollon Taxidermy will be doing the mount for my brother. On a side note I had the 24B tag and hunted friday-tuesday. We were after some good bucks that we had scouted but we couldn't find them. I shot a spike tues. morning (the last day that i could hunt) @ 450 yards. here are the pics of my brother with his buck, enjoy:

Aweome bucks! Thanks for all the pics and sharing your success with us all.
-
thanks for all the replies guys, my brother is still in shock for sure, I know he looks bigger than 102 but we measured him twice and came up with the same thing both times...
-
that is one heck of a buck!
-
the phone does work fine as a modem, however, doing so is not included in your monthly data/internet fee, they charge you seperately for that, so be careful.
-
Maybe about 100 to 102. Good luck on your hunt. awesome! thats what my dad and I came up with! good luck to you too going after that buck.

i have verizon and i have a blackberry so that changes things a bit. When you buy a blackberry with verizon they require you to have the data plan which gives me internet (extra $30/month). So i have the net on my phone. I like it, i get all my emails for work, etc. I have been on this site on my phone but not very often, I have never tried getting on the forums on my phone. Hope that info helps. I do use a cool internet radio application that lets me listen to all kinds of music from an internet radio site on my phone. is it friday yet??

hey what do you all think that wide buck will score. My dad and I were just talking about it, i was wondering what everyone thought??

Area 23 Burros Mountains Coues Deer
loco4coues replied to quest4coues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
John, Bummer that you didn't tag out, but glad you had a good time and saw some deer! I am heading out tonigt after work with my brother for our hunt and I am pumped! Hope the day doesn't drag... Thanks for the update! -
thx for posting the pics! We have a nice tall buck and a wide buck with a look like that one scouted out for friday morning. Hopefully my brother and I can pull another double like last year! I wish it was friday already!!

I lay prone, using a bipod on the front of my rifle and my pack under the butt. I get rock steady and squeeze it off. I haven't been in a situation yet where I couldn't get steady using this method. Long distance for me is anything over 400 yds.
-
Between my brother,my dad and I we have scouted out quite a few bucks with some being over the 100" mark. We have also scouted a few areas that yielded nothing more than does and spikes. We are pretty pumped for our "plan a" spot, I will keep you all updated if we have any luck next weekend.

wild!

awesome! thanks for sharing! 3 more years and boy will be old enough for his own tag.
-
I have some and love them, but sorry I'm not selling! Hope you find some, they really are a great glass.

I finally got my 7 year old step son out (custody issues) with me to scout for coues a few days ago. He had been begging me since he was 5. He did great beating the brush up to our glassing point. He had a hard time seeing the 2 does bedded at over 1000 yds, but grandpa went around the corner and glassed up 3 does and a 2 point at 130 yds, we set up the spotting scope on the buck and just let him watch, the buck was "attacking" a yucca plant, Tanner loved it! He's bummed that he won't be able to come on the hunt this year(custody issues). Maybe next year. My dad started me young and I even remember him letting me drive the suburban down a two track because we didn't see any deer, it was awesome until I told my mom when I got home, Haha. Good times

I also saw the show with Hank Parker's sons. i thought it was pretty good. Another +1 on the extreme coues video, and another one that is not as good but its okay is Vapor Trails and Whitetails.

thanks guys for the info, my cousins just needed some starting points, they have hunted around big bug before, but like has been said it gets hammered. I will let you know how they do.
-
My cousins have the any antlered deer tage for late oct. in 20a. Where can I look for mulies in 20a? Are there any high points I can glass from? Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks in advance guys.
-
mulies or coues too, I've been looking around on google earth and see some good country, just don't know where they should focus their efforts: cordes junction? dewey? mayer? crown king? they went up last week around big bug mesa and around prescott, just driving some roads, they saw 55 deer only 7 small bucks, but it was just real thick... any ways, I am just trying to help them out with some starting points since I will be on my own hunt at the same time.
