My 11 year old boy (still pretty small), shoots a weatherby vanguard .270, 150 gr. Berger VLD. Standard stock length. Just killed a cow elk with it yesterday at 300 yards.

I started out with a good deal on a Remington 700 Varmint ADL in .308. This has the heavy 26" barrel. I found a B&C stock that I really liked in BDL and started my search for the bottom metal, etc. to convert it over. I posted on here and a longrangehunting.com for what I wanted. Michael,(308nut) a member on both sites, sent me a message and hooked me up with some parts. I still need a scope, I'm thinking Vortex Viper. Also I ordered a Badger Ordnance Tactical Bolt Knob that I will be installing soon. Here are some before and after pictures so far.

The bergers are great. We killed 3 coues last year with the 150 gr. VLD out of a .270. If you are stuck on Nosler, give the longrange accubond they came out with this year a try. My brother shot his buck this year with the 150 gr. LRAB out of his .270 and it worked great. There are so many great bullet options out there. Let us know how it goes.
