    Thinking of moving

I don't think I could ever leave Arizona. Everywhere I went in military I just dreamed of home. I took every military friend that I brought to Phoenix camping and shooting and they all fell in love with Az, they all said same thing "I thought it was all sand and cactus in Az". I also Hate the valley but only for HEAT reasons. I wouldn't mind my place here from Nov-March That being said: Pine, Strawberry, Show Low, around Flag maybe to East some nice properties or Munds Park if you can deal with the weekenders. Prescott Valley, Camp Verde nice but still they get toasty. Heck I like it down South in few places and would like it even more once that big shade wall is built. Buddy of mine down South Benson area sends those nice friendly pictures of his trucks dashboard with temps registering 20 degrees lower than phx or even way more like 40deg sometimes. Its cooler almost everywhere else in the U.S. Personally I'm scared of Lyme disease so that rules out a bunch of states that just have way too high of risk! :] Also background I am a Native Phoenician of 45 years. I grew up at 40th street and bell rd. We used to ride horses to cave creek and bell pizza hut and tie up to hitching post that was in parking lot. We used to strap shotguns to 3 wheelers and cross bell rd and start hinting. Its hard to hear those words my dad use to say rattle in my head "Son enjoy this now because it will all be gone someday" 😢 I do miss the old school phx the heat was more bearable when the city wasn't as busy. Mike

Cabela's screwed up again... (Or so it seems)

EXACTLY! In the beginning you used to be able to make offers in bargain cave now it costs more than new and has NO STORE WARRANTY! If bought online bargain cave it has short WARRANTY but if bought in store bargain cave then ZERO store WARRANTY you must go thru manufacturer. This is fact. So beware when shopping closeout binoculars (euro and others) on eBay as most were purchased from bargain cave and have 3 x's scratches into them and No STORE WARRANTY since you are not buying directly from Cabelas online bargain cave. This is wrong. I returned a pair of Cabelas brand Euro binos yesterday (1-30-2018) and was told to go to the bino counter and grab a new pair, in with the old and out with the new in under 10 minutes. I purchased them on eBay 2 months ago, not knowing they were from the bargain cave. When i found out i contacted the seller and and he asked me if i would like to send them back for a full refund or he would refund me back $200. I took the $200 and kept the binos. Last week i noticed that when i would take my outdoorsmans stud out the binos they seemed like they were loose almost like they wouldnt stay open. I took them to Cabelas yesterday to return them and the lady at customer service noticed the 3 xs scratched into the bottom and asked if they were from the bargain cave and i said yes. She said no problem, corporate has explained to us that ANY and ALL Cabelas merchandise is to be exchanged or refunded, full price with a receipt, lowest sale price on a gift card without a receipt.L.O.L. weren't you the same guy arguing saying that the warranty is not even transferable with a euro optic? Fact is they have a policy for Bargain Cave item returns. I think you've proven that you can buy and sell and return things pretty well. But in this case the rule is with Cabelas if you buy it personally in bargain cave from a store location it has no Cabelas warranty and you must return it to manufacturer, in this case meopta. If you buy it online from Bargain Cave you have I believe it's a 90-day Cabelas warranty. So if you buy it second-hand from a Bargain Cave item that's off of eBay seller it's supposed to have no warranty except for going through meopta. You got very lucky! Sometimes a smile and a good story works wonders. Also sometimes guys startingbthreads like this that get seen by Cabelas employees and management also works wonders. Nah, I dont think i ever said the warranty wasnt transferable. Ill take the word of a Cabelas employee behind the customer service counter though. You are right it was nickstone on a thread about wanting meopta not Cabelas Euro. same time you had bought the 12x50 And I would love to take Cabelas verbal word but their policies seem to be BIPOLAR at times. L.O.L. glad it worked out for you. I also bought used pair that had issues and besides the gal at desk looking thru them (15x56) for 3 seconds in store at object 100 feet away and telling me they were fine after that it all worked out and I got new pair. Had to laugh at her 1st and explain how 2 days earlier I spent 6 hours in then at long range and they have issue then we were good.

  13. Shoooot my kids don't even get summer camp! good looking dog! Congrats Steve
  14. This is tough cuz you have weekenders, archery guys, quail guys, and duck guys all passing those water holes in December and January. Hope it turns up I have same gun and they are pretty dang nice, well at least I think it is mine is still new in box but action feels as smooth as Benelli
  15. Yep if given to p.d. it can be yours after a waiting period if nobody claims it and as long as it's legal gun of course.

    Javelina highway

I have seen that way West like Aguila kinda area and followed for miles crossing the flat desert "NOT" funny how when you start trekking flat ground and then you run into so many deep cuts with nice cool beds and dens dug out of walls in them. Makes for difficult hunt especially if stupid hot and dry in January they may not water till dark:30

  19. Javelina are very picky and they get super mad when people spell or say their name wrong. Try again after you fix post and possibly they will have forgiven you. Good luck!

    Pig Logic

I completely agree with your assessment about leaving the carcass in their home areas. We have seen pigs abandon long used home areas over far less stressful events. Stressing a herd unnecessarily has ruined many areas without people even realizing they are doing it. That is the reason we refuse to use a predator call anymore. It's just unnecessary. If I can't get within 20 yards of a Javelina I may need to find a new sport... And I have gutted a friends Javelina and left everything and returned the following day to guts missing and only Javelina tracks around where guts were left and then killed my Javelina in almost same spot. I think a general guidlines is good but clearly they are not all the same. Calling response I find has more to do with how public the spot is and how many times they have been called etc. I have never found a rabbit distress to work at their home address they just bail (so good for rifle hunt). Distress works well in feeding grounds. Javelina vocals barks, huffs, squeals all work for me at their home address or anywhere for that matter quite well. Javelina do and will eat meat and guts whenever they can. In a few places I dove hunt and clean my birds when I return following day all the guts and most feathers are gone and only Javelina tracks remain.

    Now What . . .

I had this 1 get a hold of me. My dumb butt tried towing him by back legs out of a yard. I shot him from stand in 5 degree temp and he then decided to go barreling downhill and crash against the people Volvo xc90 in driveway. Let's just say it's a good thing it was so cold and I had many layers of clothing on. I was kicking and hitting him with my brand new Bowtech Allegiance as hard as I could to get him off my right knee all the while trying to not slip on ice and give him shot at my face. Never again!!!
  24. Hope you healed up well! Or do have daily reminders also? Been there while scouting and setting up for kiddos deer hunt in Pinals years back. Turns out when 200lbs of corn and 30lb of feeder fall from above your head and land on metatarsal you should not pop pills to get numb and hike out. I was very close to losing my foot 1st from fear of compartment syndrome and 2nd from infection. 3 surgeries later on that injury and it will NEVER be the same again. Every single step I take I have a little reminder of that accident. :\
