I found a GSP in 6a once on a elk hunt, dog was shivering and in a culvert at 1am. Went to munds park and called # on tag and all I could do is tell him where I was camped since it was before the cell phone days. Well it was a very interesting next few days with a dog hunting with me lol sleeping on my sleeping bag LOL I brought the dog back to Phoenix with me couple of days later got a call from the owner who was ecstatic that I had found the dog and when he showed up at the house he brought gift cards and told me that that was his girlfriend's dog and that she had basically said you're not allowed to come home until you find my dog LOL Glad you found her!

Zeke-Be I get the funk. I hunt solo a bunch and it really doesn't matter if is 2 days or 2 weeks it sometimes sucks when You don't have good buddy to enjoy the time with. At 45years of age for me I'm totally fine with hotels or cabins. I'm also fine with sleeping in a day or skipping a hunt or 2 if I'm on 2 week solo hunt. I Have bull elk tag in 4 days and Have not packed 1 thing and might end up just going next week for few days. Part of it i think is priorities like I get there and think a bout what I should be doing, part of it are things on your mind that won't allow you to relax I do miss being 20 and fishing and hiking or hunting each day with no other cares

Yes it was a draw tag that nobody put in for. I did put in for it and used to be a ton of elk after a fire long time back. Elk found the river and farms and got cozy The draw tags were not enough to push them out of town so the made it otc to help farmers and that it did! The elk got the fear off broadheads put in them and most scooted out of town. You pretty much gotta be local and be in right place at right time now or hunt the very edge of the unit for better results. Some big bulls were killed there back 10-15 years ago that is what got everyone's attention. I hunted it multiple times when it was draw tag and never killed but I always had cow tags and of course always had opportunity on bulls right up in my face. Friends that live there killed quite a few.

125-150 from your taxi-man... and you know it will be correct if you have a good taxi-man...I dont skin-out, even a big buck i want mounted...easyer to let the professionals handle it, they have web-sites also ya know... I always let the taxidermist do it but in 2006 when I got my desert sheep I had to call my taxidermist and have him give me directions because I wanted a life-size mount. It was the scariest thing I've ever done working with the headlamp and everybody else around me had just enough beers in them I wouldn't let them touch it LOL but I managed to do it right

By chance have you tried cleaning the heck out of the gas ports on barrel? I'm betting this would solve the light load issue. I assume gas ring has been looked at? Opening ports up would cancel out being able to use heavy loads but cleaning the heck out of them might fix the issue. Gas ports and or gas ring few pennies on ebay might make this function 100% with light loads. Great guns! 👍
