Casey congrats to the wife. As far as morn/eve so many many factors here. When it's a drought year pigs usually end up in washes because that is where the water is underground and green trees and cacti are there. A year like this hunt, anything goes! Water everywhere, green everywhere pigs don't have to travel as much or as far as a drought year. Heck some areas have no prickly pear so pigs eat only barrel cactus and they root a bunch in those areas which means high on mountain, low in washes, and in between. I personally prefer mountain pigs as it's easier to pattern them and find beds, caves etc. Flat ground pigs travel too dang much! Flat grounders are either like quail hunting where you flush them or spot from Mile away and Than try and sneak up on Than. Find a good heard and just learn their routines and find their homes and you and your family will harvest from same herd year after year, unless you show a friend of course. π¬

Pistol pigs are fun stuff! I did learn one year even with a 9mm hollow point right in one's forehead at maybe 5 yards when he was running straight at me since I was in his trail... Well I learned that even with a giant hole in head they can still knock you flat on your back with forward momentum. :] he got another in the head literally with barrel just behind his ear cuz thought he was eating me, didn't realize he was just crashing. I LOVE JAVELINA!!! Congrats

At least you had some entertainment! Best non hunt entertainment I had while hunting was a mountain biker getting all crazy and biffing it so hard I felt it from 1000 yards away. I actually went to dial 911 while I was up on hill but shortly his moaning and wind sucking stopped and he started cussing so I knew he was gonna survive.

"I felt grateful our country still produces such warriors. TBI's, gunshots, amputations, lung disease, smashed vertebraes... crushing injuries but not a single broken will to succeed." Thank you for helping with that will to succeed cuz I tell you that is the true battle most of us face. Daily pain, daily memories, daily meds, daily why am I THE one alive?.. These things are REAL and the support I have seen lately is AWESOME

Not sure this still stands but was or is Year Taken: 1993Location: UNIT 30B Hunter: TOM GOODWIN Score: 15 4/16 I'm pretty sure I had 2 canidates few years back but old and smart. Often these end up solo pigs outted by New young stud and they will look like a Bison all front with tiny butt! Sometimes maybe just a 25lb pig cuz so old but the head will be like a tank. Happy hunting folks! Maybe 1 day I will get a 15 1/2" beast but that's almost a full inch over my biggest so...

I must agree. I just killed out of a herd that has same address for 30 years now and probably 30 before I came along and found them. Same 3 big trees, same 2 big rocks, same DEEP bed absolutely invisible to the eye from anywhere except 12" away from it. If you don't see them coming or going you would never know they existed. Glassing feeding grounds and shooting pigs works but what about when they bail? knowing their home address works even better. Primary address Secondary blow out and hide shelter 3rd is probably around backside same mountain cuz now they are anoyed DONT LET THERE BE A 4TH CUZ THEY MAY LEAVE THE COUNTRY IF YOU SPOOK THEM FROM THAT SAFEZONE. If you do not succeed by #2 them regroup and come back few days later.

Anybody ever wonder what a 95 grain ballistic silvertip does to a javelina when it's delivered via 243 wssm? This is entrance wound and looks like the dang projectile was explosive. π¬

Brian honestly I missed him all day. When I got home considering I had pig poop going down my arms and even on my neck I didn't do much loving on him I looked at him from a distance. LOL but I will make up for lost time today with him :-). On a side note guys after many years of hunting javelina I found something that helps remove the smell from your body it's called Pine Tar Soap. Wife had a rash during pregnancy one of the things they recommended was Pine Tar Soap so I ordered multiple bars of it and last night when I got home I scrub from head to toe with pine tar soap for 10 minutes and I don't smell like a javelina at all and I carried him out of my neck. I will always have a bar of Pine Tar Soap during Pigπ· season for now onπππ
