Terry Lancaster's Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Hunt with Colburn and Scott Outfitters 2
THOR replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
Congrats to the hunter and everyone involved!!!! that is a nice looking ram! -
Everyone has made good points but I am sure that everyone that is talking has hit there arm a time or two and if you say no....your full of $hit. it happens...I shoot an 80# X-force Dream Season and I hit my arm when I was shooting off my parents roof to work on angles. ouch!!! stuff happens. have it fitted for you and also have you front leg outside more ...if your right handed have your left leg out to the side a bit more and that will cause you to keep your arm more away from the string. pm me...

Unit 22 Ram Pics....anyone here have a tag?
THOR replied to catfish campbell's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
he still has room to grow...I wouldn't shoot him in 22 but he has great genetics. he's gonna be a toad! im no expert but I would guess upper 160s -
I like the pic with him sitting further back. Its not hard to see how big that bull is! Great Pic and congrats for two awesome bulls and all the hard work that was put in...well deserved!!!!

Congrats to you for a great goat. It took me 20 years to get a tag and my Dad 35 years. your Dad rocks! great buck!!!!! ~Mark
-
i hate it when things come up like this!!! I think who ever started all this crap is just jealous!!! That is a great buck especially for a desert buck ! since everyone is throwing around numbers I think it would be a great buck for "guess the score" just a thought. regardless he is a cool/huge buck.. Congrats to the hunter!

He is in mine and my families thoughts and prayers.

I left it on the top of the truck and drove off I got home and said oh crap. went back the next morning and there were tire tracks over the Ranger tracks we were in. where the first spot was to pick it up. Its a stainless Steal 1911 with brown colt grips. I was in 36A near the Sarrita Mountain Road. if anyone knows great if not Im the dumb A$$ who left it on the roof.. Thank you ~Mark

I already did and reported the serial number just in case...name, number and everything in between . to just be safe.
-
I agree 100% if you like the ram shoot!! I passed on a ram that was running with mine that would have scored more but mine was what I wanted because of the look. You will know when you like him...you only get one- in my mind score doesn't matter just have a good safe hunt. Good Luck!!!

Congrats Devin you da Man!!!! Another Monster bites the dust!
-
I would say he is a class 3 ram that would score around the low 160s...im no expert though.

I have used the trophy taker for years and loved it. I used the shaky hunter model. but I switched to the whisker biscuit. the reason being is that when your string stretches just a little bit it will throw off the timing of when the rest drops and you could have the vanes hit the rest. You just have to always check the timing and the stretch on your string. just my 2 cents ~Mark

Another thing I see a lot of people do that don't know how to score add in the base measurement and that could be 20"+ that that doesn't exist.
-
Hey Vince: Sorry it didn't work out for you. good luck this year! ~Mark
-
This is my 2cents Since we all hunt WT Im sure 90" WT= 320" elk 95" WT=330" elk 100" WT= 340" elk 105" WT= 355" elk 110" WT= 375" elk and so on...that's just the way I think about it. Anything over 350 is huge, so many people say they have seen a 400 inch bull but they don't know what they are looking at. a 400 inch bull doesn't look normal. Looks like he is going to fall over and you wonder how he can move through trees.
-
Congrats Christian ! That is a cool looking bull and one of the widest I have ever seen! way to get it done!!! ~Mark

LOL I have never been a good speller

You NAILED it !!!! Well said! Its just a waist of all our hard earned money. I miss seeing them but there is a reason for everything. Someone "wants to feel all warm and fuzzy." Love it! ~Mark

I love Desert Sheep!! There is not one person that knows me that would decline that. This is, I'm sorry to say, a waist of money. The sheep left that area for a reason, and they will leave again or get killed by the lions. There is too many people up there and too many homes around. Sheep like there solitude. I mean does any one think its a good idea to re-locate sheep to a spot where you can see a Walmart from where they are going to be dropped off.? I will say it again, I am no Biologist, but to put sheep back in there is a bad idea and a waist of money....they will be gone in a few ways in a few years. No closure of trails or lack of people "allowed" in there is going to help. PS. I am a member of the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society. ~Mark

I cant stand the people on here that talk crap because, they think it was given something to get that big. The guides need to be given some respect for the time and effort to find a beast like that and put the Hunter on him. And the person also has to be able to pull the trigger. Im sure every one of us on this site would be shaking in there boots if that beast walked out. Congrats to the Hunter and Mossback for another amazing Kill. I cant wait to see what takes a dirt nap during Elk season.

Hunt the edge of the reservation and the burn. once they start talking you will do fine.

I know Fat Olives (Italian) is hiring and Salsa Brava (Mexican) might as well. My uncle owns them both. they are right on the strip. They are also going to be opening up a Coffee shop here soon around those places. They are both very busy and is a hot spot for food (award winning) and drinks but not a crazy bar/party seen. Mark
