Here's some "North of the River Muley's" I've arrowed over the years:
-
That unit (and 55) lost about 70% of their deer herd in the 07/08 winter. According to a buddy of mine who backpacks both units all summer long, it has been VERY slow to recover. Bowls he used to see 15-20 bucks in have been almost vacant the last few seasons. He's seen a few decent bucks, but nothing like it was prior to the winter kill. Be prepared to be extremely mobile (backpack) in order to locate deer. Beautiful country for sure.

That's an awesome buck......congratulations!

Beautiful velvet buck.....congratulations! -
Congratulations young man!
-
Awesome buck.......kudos to you arrowing one of those deer.
-
170"?? Wow.....what's the individual measurements of the buck? The photo obviously does NOT do the buck justice. Congratulations man on a fine trophy.......you did good!

PM me for info........I know a VERY reputable guide who is on the Strip year round that will work out an arrangement for you that will allow you to hunt in the manner you'd like......you can provide your own camp, food, etc., and make it VERY reasonable (less than $2500). High success rate....no chute planes, posse of guides, etc.......

Awesome velvet muley.......congratulations!

Mule Canyon area.......explore the walk-in areas and you'll find solitude and bucks.

Actually, it's just a good photograph. He was a little over 31" wide and grossed 197" and some change and officially netted 191 2/8" B&C. Just a beautiful typical 5x5 (including G1's-eyeguards).

Man, I'd love to......but I'm not the most computer/techincal guy......wouldn't even know where to begin. I beleive there's a small portion (shot) of it on their website under one of the videos in their gallery?

It's an archery buck I arrowed on the Strip (13B) in 2008.
-
Was up there last week poking around for a few days........wish I had put in for it this year, as I saw a few giants including a typical that will be pushing the 200" mark.
-
Back then (08) I believe it was either $2000 or $2500 (can't remember exactly).....that was for five full days if needed. They also video taped my quick hunt (stalk, shot, recovery). Made for some great memories I can still pop into the DVD and relive/share with others.

Contact Kory & Larry Bundy from At First Light Guide Service (link above). They'll work with you on price and tailor a hunt for you. When I drew that archery tag in 2008, I used Kory.......I provided my own camp, food, transportation, and was able to spot-n-stalk.......I simply wanted some help on where to hunt. They did that for me......A LOT cheaper than $4000.00. I was done opening morning within 15 minutes of stalking. Give them call asap, as they fill up quickly.

My hunting partner's daughter's first big game animal with a bow......she was pretty excited!

80% let-off bows have been allowed in Pope & Young for a few years now.......however, those entries using bows with greater than 65% are denoted with an asterisk (*). Electronic rangefinders are acceptable.......however, NO electronic devices can be attached to the bow OR arrow (lighted arrow knocks are ineligible for entry). Electronic devices that are not attached to the bow or arrow may or may not be allowed.....depending on the situation. Example: Two-way radios used to guide a hunter to an animal violate rules of Fair Chase for B&C and P&Y.....therefore, making them ineligible. Some electronic calls may make an entry ineligible, especially if they are not legal within the respective state. For ANY specific question that is not listed on the P&Y website, feel free to call Glenn Hisey @ (507) 867-4144 and he can answer all of your questions regarding entry requirements. Hope it helps.

Members Slayin' bucks on opening day!!!!!
BOHNTR replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Well, I know it's a "carp" deer but I did arrow him opening day.......15 minutes into the hunt on the Arizona Strip (13B). He's 31" wide and grosses 197 7/8" and nets 192 7/8". Can't believe my "hunt of a lifetime" ended so quickly. ...not complaining though! Hope you enjoy. -
That is an absolute GIANT.....big time congratulations.
-
Ouch! Now BASS I thought you were a friend......why if I found out you weren't my friend I don't know if I could stand it.
-
Actually there was another who doesn't use them.

Whether you think the use of radios are fair or not is a mute point in terms of Randy's latest bucks. He chooses to use them....legally. I choose not to use them because to me it takes away the chess game I have with mule deer each and every stalk. I also prefer the guidelines the B&C and P&Y have created. That's my choice. What I do respect about Randy is he hasn't entered them into record books because he knows what the rules are. Definitely shows there's no ego involved there, IMO.
