    Record book

80% let-off bows have been allowed in Pope & Young for a few years now.......however, those entries using bows with greater than 65% are denoted with an asterisk (*). Electronic rangefinders are acceptable.......however, NO electronic devices can be attached to the bow OR arrow (lighted arrow knocks are ineligible for entry). Electronic devices that are not attached to the bow or arrow may or may not be allowed.....depending on the situation. Example: Two-way radios used to guide a hunter to an animal violate rules of Fair Chase for B&C and P&Y.....therefore, making them ineligible. Some electronic calls may make an entry ineligible, especially if they are not legal within the respective state. For ANY specific question that is not listed on the P&Y website, feel free to call Glenn Hisey @ (507) 867-4144 and he can answer all of your questions regarding entry requirements. Hope it helps.

Members Slayin' bucks on opening day!!!!!

Well, I know it's a "carp" deer but I did arrow him opening day.......15 minutes into the hunt on the Arizona Strip (13B). He's 31" wide and grosses 197 7/8" and nets 192 7/8". Can't believe my "hunt of a lifetime" ended so quickly. ...not complaining though! Hope you enjoy.
  5. That is an absolute GIANT.....big time congratulations.

Ouch! Now BASS I thought you were a friend......why if I found out you weren't my friend I don't know if I could stand it.

    I'm out

Whether you think the use of radios are fair or not is a mute point in terms of Randy's latest bucks. He chooses to use them....legally. I choose not to use them because to me it takes away the chess game I have with mule deer each and every stalk. I also prefer the guidelines the B&C and P&Y have created. That's my choice. What I do respect about Randy is he hasn't entered them into record books because he knows what the rules are. Definitely shows there's no ego involved there, IMO.

    I'm out

You know, I've read the pages of several P&Y / B&C record books over the years.......I can't remember a time I looked at the hunter's name in the book when I did........I was merely admiring the respective measurements and areas where these impressive creatures were taken. I would venture to say most people do the same.......so how can it be about ego if I don't even know who arrowed it? Do some hunters enter animals for ego......sure they do. But I don't feel it's the norm. JMO

    Archery Kaibab Question

If you can find area that has Lupine AND buckbrush on top of smaller ridges without spur roads on it, you'll find deer.
  11. Sorry to hear about that......I had the same thing happen to me this year, but had a better than expected outcome. I had placed a camera on a remote spring in some blacktail country here in Kali. When I returned two weeks later, I noticed someone had taken my card out of the camera and turned the camera off. I was pretty upset, but glad they didn't steal it. So, I put in another card, turned it on, and left. 5 days later I checked it again and opened it up. There was a note inside along with my original card AND a brand new 2gb card. The note basically said they didn't want to place another camera on the water and infringe, but wanted to see what came in. So they viewed my card and returned it two days later. The note also added that since they viewed the card, they turned it off to save battery life and gave his name and phone number to see if I was going to hunt it. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the note and ended up calling the guy after I viewed the deer on the card. Nothing real big but big enough for this guy. I told him to go ahead and hunt it and thanked him for the card. I guess I could have been upset that he viewed my card in the first place.......but out here (CA), I was simply glad my camera was still there and not vandalized. Besides, I basically ended up with an extra card just for letting him view it.

    BLACKTAIL/BLACK BEAR COMBO ANYONE?

There are some slammer bucks in the Trinity Alps Wilderness....bring a bear tag as well. All I do is bowhunt, so I've been in there during the August season when they are in bachelor herds in the wide open bowls.......best time to hunt them , IMO.
